We used to camp here every summer when I was growing up. Great memories of a beautiful place. My mother sowed hollyhock seeds 60 years ago and the flowers are thriving even now! ( only the stalks remain since it is November) Historical church and graveyard near by which was interesting.

I've camped here a few times with other families and really enjoyed each trip. The hiking and fishing are both great, and the scenery is beautiful. Star watching at night is outstanding — some of the clearest skies I’ve seen. Just a heads-up: there’s no cell service, so bring satellite comms if you need to stay in touch or have them for emergencies like we did. Overall, a peaceful and memorable spot for camping.

Stayed a week and had an amazing time. No water or electricity but man the views are absolutely gorgeous. The river is right next to the campsites, (so if you need a sound machine, a natural one is right there).

Very skinny, dirt road that's not too friendly on oversized vehicles. We had a Dodge Ram woth a camper and a trailer in tow, and it was okay, but I believe the reason they call it "Holy Ghost" campground is because you are praying down that entire 3 mile road that there is no oncoming traffic. Then someone needs to back up. But, once you are there, I think it's one of the very best campgrounds in the state. We met a couple from Germany, and they were amazed by it's beauty and abundance of animal and plant life. There are lots of insects, but I was pleasantly surprised that there were no mosquitos, even though we were near water. The creek that runs along the side has little rainbow trout, and there are wild raspberries and gooseberries and wild roses galore. Lots of paths to explore though the woods. Good amount of space per campsite and all sites on the east side have access to the creek. I believe the only negativity in reviews could be from 1)the difficult road 2)it's not an overly developed campground, so the sites are pretty level, but it's not like you have a cement slab to park on.. If you love the outdoors, and quiet, beautiful trees and the sound of running water, it's worth the trek. My Dad and I visited in the last week of August, 2024. The weather and overall experience could not have been more perfect. And the dog loved it too! Picnic table and fire ring at every site.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Been there many times over the years. Lots of great memories. Best to go during the week in the fall after school starts if you like space.

Nice, but not great campground. Roads and trails could use work/upkeep. Road in is VERY narrow with some sizable potholes. Otherwise, it is beautiful and good for fishing

The worst campground I've ever been to. We stayed in site 20, there were big holes all over the site, even between the table and firepit. There was absolutely no maintenance done. The site was overgrown with grass and weeds. Lots of bramble vines and other sticker bushes. And no flat spots to set up a tent. There was no running water, except for the creek, which is about two feet wide and four or five inches deep. The outhouse was filthy and infested with flies never mind the smell. Very BAD experience. I would not recommend this campground to anyone.

Beautiful and quiet campground. The campground has a long winding road with tent and camper sites spread out on both sides. The river is right next to the sights so you can hear it running at all times. The bathrooms are big and there are alot of recycle/garbage bins around. Views are beautiful and the campground was peaceful.

One of our family's favorite camping spots. Dog friendly. Quiet and peaceful. Don't let the name scare you. The restrooms were clean tons of areas to explore hike and let the kids play. Every campsite is well maintained and has firepits. Also while we were there someone would routinely come.through and had firewood for sale.

Beautiful campground. The 3 mile road leading to it is unfortunately riddled with potholes, some worse than others, really needs some work. We stayed at campsite #2, there was a skunk that came out both nights we were there.

The camp groun can get busy and noisy. Barking dogs, generators running, loud music..... But if go further into the woods it nice and quiet. Good place to meditate next the creek.

SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME HERE! First time ever going camping and Me & my daughter spent 2 great days here and it was so nice. Forest Service worker Eric, was so nice, he kept an eye on us and made us feel welcomed. We made some nice friends there and can't wait to go back. There was plenty of fish, ample clean restrooms, trash cans and spaces. So, many cool spots for fishing. Also, There was fire forest workers and Weston answered our questions. He was super nice, hope his Boss somehow sees this.

Awesome little campground. The only downside is how close most of the spots are to each other. But overall great spot to camp out at. All of the spots have benches, fire pits/grills, nice parking areas, and most of them are backed up to the Holy Ghost Creek. There's a couple of restrooms, trash cans, water spouts, trailheads, and a group camping area. Because of the area it is a heavy use area and will get full fast. First come first serve. Prices aren't too bad either, $8.00 a night and per vehicle.

This was my first time here, it was very beautiful, and peaceful, the camp site was nice and maintained very well! It is first come first serve. If you want to be there for a weekend get there early. You do pay a small fee to camp per Vehicle (cash, small bills only). Dogs are allowed,There is no cellphone service out there so you can enjoy nature the right way. Also the road in the mountains gets very small and its a one car road for (both ways) and a lot of pot holes just drive slow. For fire either bring your own wood, it can rain out there, just an FYI the camp site are a little close together. Be respectful and pick up your mess before leaving. Other then that I loved it and will be going back again.

Great camp ground! Somewhat of a rough dirt road for the last few miles, but nothing a 2wd car with ok tires couldn't handle when dry. I'd be a bit nervous if pulled a long camp trailer or drove a Class A due to some of the curves. Great stream access. We saw deer, trout, and a cow elk. My kids had a blast. Great family camping. FYI... the rangers came and shut down a party camp-- if you're going to be rowdy, go somewhere else... unless you want load up your stuff in the middle of the night and have your buddies "sleep it off" in the Pecos drunk tank.

Great campsite! The reasoning for my 1 star stems from being overcharged by Ranger Tony Jr. Lopez. My group arrived the campsite at 4am in the morning yet we were charged for the prior day. Not only that, we were charged 32 dollars for only 1 day with 2 cars. Tony was extremely unprofessional and when we explained the situation he remained adamant that we pay. As to not make a scene, we complied and gave him a 40 dollar bill. He explained that he had no change and pocketed the extra 8 dollars! We will never return to this campsite due to the unprofessional staff.

Weekends, it gets really rowdy well past the posted quiet time. There's no cellular service so calling law enforcement is not possible. There is no longer a campground host. USFS removed the well pumps so there is no potable water. Weekdays however, it's like heaven.

I’ve camped in the Pecos before but this campground was so small and really nice. When I go tent camping I hate being next to RVs and generators and the road up to the campground is narrow which deters RVs. There are several sites with fire pits and tables, trash bins, clean restrooms, it was a great find. I can’t wait to go back most of the sites were alongside the stream.
