Atrocious. Treated like a criminal. Facility is old and disgusting. Staff is rude and doctors act like you’re the scum of the earth. They should revamp this place and get rid of everyone who’s not kind to the veterans. The psych department especially.

I have been receiving medical treatment at Lyons and East Orange for over 12 years.. and have interacted with many medical professionals and staff.. in any large hospital setting, you will encounter dedicated people and sometimes, some that are just not smart enough to gargle. I recently had shoulder surgery and I rate it 5 stars 110%. Drs, nurses, staff were outstanding and the scheduling was perfect. God Bless all those who take care of us veterans at both hospitals.

I called up there about my dad and I was transferred to a Nursing supervisor by the name of Gwen Martin. Ms. Martin was so professional and she answered all my questions. She took it upon herself to go checkup on my dad. She reassured me that my dad would be taken care of and she even called me back to make sure that all my concerns were addressed.

Today, my boyfriend and I went to Lyons so he could enroll in the health program and get an ID card. We were helped by Venus. She was wonderful. She made everything so easy for us and was so welcoming. We were happy to have her help us and wanted everyone to know this.

Unbelievable I haven't been there in a while but today I see how much the service has been improved it was great. I felt so good being treated like a celebrity, Sunny my eye Care Doctor was so professional he took care of me. My benefits show off.

I always feel comfortable going there and I which service and well taken care of. And there is very little waiting involved. I appreciate the service very much and I’m glad this hospital is there.

Wow so far the service was amazing until I stepped in the lab ? the rudest two ladies in NJ “ID - Last 4” no good morning or anything! I was afraid to get my blood taken.

They suck and don't care for their disabled veterans. My father needs surgery in his throat and va denied it. My father can't swallow food and has hard time with fluids. Je also has kidney disease They never told him about nor have them offered treatment. I'm furious

Very Very good Veterans Care. From the outside staff at Lyons and through out the building the people there are caring and friendly. I have been to many VA hospitals and clinics in several states and never experienced the warm an welcomed care as I have here. The dental staff and doctors, the eye, hearing, skin, foot care have been wonderful. I can only hope all Veterans have the same great experience I have had here. For the first time in 50 years I feel good saying I'm a Veteran when I leave a VA facility. Thank you all.

Apparently I went to the wrong place to try and get some paperwork completed by a physician. I went to building 4. There’s was no line…. It wasn’t busy… matter of fact I was the only one there. The nurse, in her 50-60s with a European accent, begins to ask me the reason for my visit. When I explain I’m looking to have a physical examination to have paperwork completed, she immediately begins giving me an attitude about being unable to help me. “Well, then why are you here” , “ugh, this is not the place to do that, this is for if you have the flu and need meds because you can’t get in touch with your PCM. or I you break a finger etc” I don’t take issue with being corrected, guided, educated, or helped. What I take issue with… is a nurse addressing me with a condescending tone and a poor attitude. After I’ve been completely polite and respectful. I quickly put her in her place and explained that if I was in the wrong place, she should show me professionalism and courtesy, as opposed to being rude and disrespectful. I explained to her I have never used the VA healthcare system before and if I was in the wrong place, to please direct me where I should go. She said she didn’t know with more of an attitude, and I replied to her… so you’re giving me attitude over a mistake I made, I’m asking YOU, the VA nurse, where I should go, and you tell me, I don’t know, how am I supposed to know”… I replied, you’re a VA hospital, you are connected and affiliated with other VA clinics, you’re telling me, you can’t ask ANYONE here, where I can find the help I’m looking for? It was only after this exchange that she attempted to walk back her attitude and meet me with an even keel tone, perhaps bc she sensed how upset I was.. she proceeded to take my vitals showing a 100 HR and a BP of 138 systolic, paying homage to how excited and angry I was in the moment. Dr LIN then pulls me back to give me more or less the same SHPEEL, without paying any mind to the manner in which she was addressing me. At least cool cat LIN told me she was trying to find an answer for me. I find it pretty gross, to think veterans are treated this way. People coming to work so miserable with their own lives, that they’d forgot their position and begin giving YOU the veteran customer, attitude. Absolutely bonkers to me. I see now why the VA gets it poor reputation. It seems both doctors and nurses, JUST LIKE COPS, have forgotten how to communicate and treat people with dignity and respect. Those two values are lost on building 4. The front desk receptionists were very kind. Perhaps bc they were minorities like me. Perhaps if I wasn’t Hispanic and tattooed, I might’ve received better information and help. Oh well

My fathers TV is broken from Friday to Monday 4 days 93 years old ww11 veteran survived Germany , I don’t don’t if he will service this Lyons VA , in the beginning everyone is nice then 6 months later no one knows you terrible, and food is terrible, better when he was in Florida VA

Absolutely the worst service. It's a two hour drive for me to get there and once I do, I've been rescheduled! The VA system is a complete fail for all veterans! To top it all off the VA must seek out the rudest people to work there!

I’ve been trying to get in contact with a patient that just reached out to me that is my family member with a serious matter and the call center refused to connect me to them after he just tried to call me and actually hung the phone up. The disrespectfulness was unnecessary and could have been easily avioded. The staff member are completely unprofessional

As a Veteran using VA healthcare I often use Lyons. My Dr. is there. Very good and very profesional. I get my glasses there and hearing aids. I always feel welcome there. The health care is second to none. Everyone seems excellant in their Jobs. Also very courteous.

The VA has gotten better. My first time in the early 80s it was a nightmare. At least East Orange. Today I go to Lyons and I’m usually pleased by the service. Not always,as everyone has a bad day. As for getting patient information. Fageddaboutit they take patient privacy seriously. You’re going to get NO information if your not listed as next of kin. They won’t even tell you if I’m even in the hospital. And now with community care, I can even see local doctors. And the phone system seems to be working again with the new prefixes. Thank you Donald J Trump. 45th President of the United States. BTW guess who’s picture still isn’t on the wall.

First time at this facility. I took my dad for 2 Dr visits Podiatry and Eye and Everyone from entering the facility to the Dr’s and Nurses, Techs and administrators Business office Eligibility were Excellent, Efficient and Professional. Facility was very clean and comfortable. Thank you to everyone for making our visit so pleasant. God Bless you all!

I had a POA and the VA assigned a fiduciary that will not house me and is trying to starve me. Furthermore I have found her using my identity and funds. This is illegal and I am 100 percent veteran.

I had an awesome first visit to the Lyons VA! Everyone from the tooth to the canal were very pleasant, helpful, and PROFESSIONAL here. I worked with Margaret in the enrollment department to get all my info transferred from NY. I'm a service connected OEF vet who's never really been to the VA outside my evaluation (C&P) exam and I had no issues with getting signed up for VA medical and my ID card processed.VA Lyons is my go-to and should be the standard for VA Med campuses.

The care and compassion received at Lyons living community center was top rated I would give them 10 stars if I could, My husband Roy made so many friends and loved to talk to everyone, When he was not well the nurses, and doctors were always there to help him and kept me informed no matter how tough it was, I would advise anyone in the military to go thru the VA system, from the Dr, in Hackensack VA clinic to East Orange medical center to Lyons community living Center there was no better care I could have asked for. My darling husband passed on 8/2 at Lyons , even then the final care has forever touched my heart , God Bless everyone of the Doctors,Nurses, and the AIDS the staff and anyone else would touches the heart of all of these brave men and women, Forever grateful loving wife Maria Sherman

Waited 1 month to get an audiology appointment. Went to the appointment to be told come back in 2 months. I made the wrong appointment NJ LAW REQUIRES THAT I GET AN AUDIOLOGY EXAM BEFORE I CAN GET A HEARING AID FITTING. They make money on me again for no service. Also went to see the so called advocate. That's a locked door by the elevator with the window covered by paper. Knocked on the door and was shooed away by some woman that didnt want to earn her pay. Another swamp creature sucking up big bucks for doing nothing UPDATE Waited 2 months and arrived for the next appointment late. Route 287 was a parking lot. It took 2-1/2 hours to go 23 miles. As a result my appointment was cancelled. Make another appointment. SEE YOU IN TWO MORE MONTHS WE HOPE YOU DIE.

Nice Golf Course. However, it's a tough crowd, seems like the local wealthy don't like it when you play, even though I live in BLDG 53 in transitional housing here on campus (where the Pantry gets RAIDED by the front desk overnight staff).....but other then that it's hit or miss with medical care,.my therapist cancelled on me 3 times,..my counseling team in BLDG 53 along with the Hud Vash Staff is the Best of the Best THEY STOP AT NOTHING TO HELP ME ON MY JOURNEY IN OBTAINING A DECENT HOUSING SITUATION,.. my original Primary Care was in NY HARBOR VA ,..GO JETS!!!

Took 1/2 hour to make a sick appointment. Had to speak with 3 people. Scheduler asked if I wanted to wait a week to be seen. I said of course not. I am sick. The nurse and scheduler need to stop asking people stupid questions and just schedule the appointment. Never encountered people so dumb.

Utilizing the healthcare services/facilities of the Lyons VA campus, I have found the services to be on par with the best private/HMO facilities. The VA has grasped the concept of medical teaming and is extremely proactive in anticipating/addressing the patient's issues.

Lyons campus is incredible!! The Hospital is very clean, laid out for optimum efficiency, and a warm,welcoming enviroment. The entire staff is friendly and sensitive to my medical needs. I spent many years in Miami, FL. and it is a good hospital, but Lyons is outstanding! Very glad to be here.
