Would leave zero stars if I could. Sanitation Workers left garbage in front of our home from the neighbors trash can and only cleaned it up when confronted by a family member and it was a poor clean up job. Older gentleman then manipulated my family member away from the cameras on the truck and whispered to her that she was trash among other derogatory things. Later found the worker and confronted him myself and received the same trash attitude and was told “If I don’t like it, call the police”. Called Tri-State and the woman that answers the phone had an attitude from the start. Robert (one of the Supervisors) sent another worker down to clean it up and assured me that they’d keep coming back and cleaning the mess until we were happy with it. Worker showed up yesterday afternoon and threw some bleach down and left. Entire front yard still smells like fish and rotten food in the heat and ground is stained. Owner called my father late last night and assured him that this would be made right. Today was a different story, another worker showed up this morning around 10 am and gave a different explanation and theres "nothing they can do" and deflected and placed blame everywhere else except on his employee and code of conduct. Completely unprofessional. They do not care about doing a good job. Stay away from this company. They've been reported to the Township, our Mayor and a report with the DEP was filed. Please also note that this isn't the first incident either. This has been a repeat problem for a couple years now and nothing ever gets fixed and we end up cleaning up the mess ourselves, but yesterday was the worst incident of them all. No one should ever be treated like this by a business.
To the "Owner's" reply below- You called me SEVEN times in two hours today right after I left this review and also from blocked numbers which I now have screenshots of that I can post as well or file a police report if you’re threatening me with posting the out of context videos that only show one side of a bigger story so If you're telling the truth and have nothing to hide, why not leave a professional voicemail instead of just calling and hanging up? And unfortunately, I was busy and don't have time to be on a phone most of my day so then you called my family member bothering him about the google review on top of it. There was no second cleaning done this morning so that is a lie and your version isn't matching the one my father gave me. My parents aren't satisfied at all with the job done or how this was handled. Your Supervisor (Robert) also mentioned our reactions and anger were justified given the situation and circumstances and now you threaten with posting videos out of context to make me out to be some horrible person for standing up for someone especially two 72 year old senior citizens? I think anyone would do the same if they were in the same situation. The person my father spoke with late last night on the phone also said that the employees were reprimanded that were involved in the incident so if they didn't do anything wrong, why did they get in trouble? The owner should get in touch with me if this is to be resolved. UPDATE -10/15/2025- Tri- State is back to their problematic ways again and dumped garbage water/filth all over in front of our residence instead of pulling up to our neighbors property and doing it. Woman that answered the phone just shrugged it off again just like the rest of the scumbags that own and work here.
Went there twice the first time I felt okay with the price and weight but 2nd time went on scale the first time talked to a guy there and he told me to dump it, emptied it and went back on the scale and it was bouncing 4700 4720 after emptied got the ticket and they gave me the price of 20lbs of scrap. I know I had way more then that ( edited went back and they told me he stepped on the scale and it added weight… (but you only had like 20lbs of scrap right?” No. Definitely not right they definitely shady people.
The worst prices ever...... If you bring them your scrap they are robbing you. The desk people are useless. The lot is a swamp filled with sewage. If I could give zero stars I would

I have been comeing here for months now. I come about 3 times a week. They are great here, and always helping me out. Prices aren't bad, and it's just down the street from me.

Small place but big time help fro. The employees the manager john is extremely helpful and another worker beezack was very helpful and respectful I would recommend tri-state over any other scrap yard in the ocean county area.
Got a small dumpster for my property and called them literally every single month for 6 months telling them that they couldn't come before 7am because I live in a residential area. I told them this before they even brought the dumpster to my house and was told it was no problem at all. Every single month I got the same BS that they swore up and down they won't do it again and they continue to come at 5am. I called this morning extremely angry since a 'higher up' promised me last month it absolutely wouldn't happen again and yet again, 6am they're here. They tried blaming it on the snow and said they were trying to 'catch up', but my scheduled pick up day isn't for another 4 days. But apparently the day was switched without even letting me know. Absolutely unreal. More than once the dumpster wasn't even emptied all the way, including today. Extremely unhappy.
