What clients say about C & C Towing and Auto Repairs in Fords (NJ)
I am posting this to document a discriminatory interaction that occurred during a business visit to C&C Towing and Auto Repairs.
I am a Sales Representative and I stopped by with my manager to introduce our company and discuss maintenance and supply needs. The shop was busy, and upon arrival I parked in a spot I believed would not interfere with operations. In hindsight, I acknowledge the parking may have been improper. When it was brought to my attention, I immediately apologized and took full responsibility.
However, during the conversation inside the shop, an individual who appeared to be in a supervisory/owner role said:
“So you come here in a Tesla…”
and
“The Indian decided to come to my shop and park across three spots like that.”
I had already apologized for the parking issue. My race had absolutely nothing to do with the situation. Referencing my ethnicity in that context was unnecessary and inappropriate.
If my vehicle needed to be moved, that could have been communicated directly and professionally, and I would have done so immediately. Instead, the interaction escalated to include a racial remark, which made the situation hostile and unprofessional.
I am not posting this to create conflict, but to accurately document what occurred. Professional disagreements should remain professional — without racial commentary. I hope ownership addresses this appropriately so customers and business representatives are treated with the professionalism and respect they deserve.
Charlie has been EXTREMELY helpful with my vehicles. I'm lucky to have this trustworthy shop so close to my house, but if I didn't, I would come here anyway. They're busy and they stay busy, but they're always friendly and ready to solve problems.

Oh, what a gem of a mechanic! I took my girlfriend’s car in for a coolant leak, and he quoted me $600 to fix some brackets. Two minutes later, it’s suddenly $1,100—amazing how prices just soar! After I got the car back, he offered to replace a lightbulb he’d removed himself—so generous! But wait, he also managed to damage the undercarriage panels. When I pointed it out, he acted confused and then threatened me to get out of his shop. Classic move for a thief: blame the customer for your shady practices. What a dishonest con artist!
Been waiting for 8mons on a tow for a brake job on dads truck that is not a daily driver and I took it myself to the shop but couldn’t be kept there at the time. he worked on it fall of 2022 and didn’t do the brakes and I didn’t ask him to do it last year so here Iam in sept waiting. He’s busy with better customers cars that are daily drivers. He could’ve been done already and paid.
Do not use this company. Their owner Charlie is completely unhinged... After bringing my car there over three times he turned me away not completing the repairs it needed and he screamed at me in my face throwing his hands up jumping up and down in a full rage.... Charlie is a very disrespectful human being to his customers... To treat his customers this way is absolutely despicable... Not to mention He has done work for me before and failed at every job... I told him my check engine light is still on and he threw his arms up in mock surrender... As if telling me what do you want me to do about it?... Horrible company horrible human being... Do not use this company they will treat you the same way they treated me.
Great service! I pulled off from the NJ turnpike and C & C took care of getting me new tires that day, and I made it to my engagement in NYC on time! Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for getting my vehicle to Staten Island…It was fast and efficient service and I would refer this company to anyone in the area in need of a tow or auto repair.
On a 10hr road trip home I stopped at a rest stop with my kids and my van wouldn’t start back up. The auto service guy at the rest stop said it was likely the alternator and I’d need to get my van towed to a shop and have it replaced. C&C took it from there. Start to finish this was the best auto experience I have had. These guys were so professional and kind. They got the part, repaired my van, and dropped the car off at our hotel all within a few hours. We were able to get back on the road much sooner than I expected. Fantastic experience for what could have been a very stressful situation. Thank you C&C!!
Gave them a call to find out the price for tire repair and alignment. Guy was fine at first and then was extremely rude telling me to stop by then find out, then hanging up on me. Other mechanics were able to give me their price but for some reason this guy wanted to have an attitude with me. Not going to anyplace that doesn’t have respect for my time or have the decency to talk like a normal human being.
Charlie is great to do business with. Since moving to the area 3 years ago he has been working on my families cars and we recommend all our customers to C&C Gulf.
By far the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic shop. Call company at 7:17 a.m. they picked me up at 7:22 a.m. got the part and I was out the door by 8 a.m.. great mechanics great customer service. I want to give a special thanks to Charlie and his crew there thank you very much guys
Straightforward high quality service. Bought my car in for new brakes and rotors. Job was done within 2 hours at a better price than any other place around. Not to mention the shop and premises are very clean and well kept which to me says they take pride in their business. What else could you want?
I have been a customer since 1987 when his dad owned the place. Charlie has continued his good name and has always done excellent service. His prices are fair and in a bind he takes good care of my vehicle. He is definitely what you call the neighborhood mechanic. Any problems are addressed immediately!! Thank you Charlie for taking care of my vehicles always. Much appreciated!!
I was driving home to Philadelphia from Connecticut when a caliper bolt came off (I had gotten new calipers put in just a week or so before by someone else), and got stranded in Woodbridge for the night. The next morning I told the manager at C & C what happened, and they fixed the bolt immediately. Really got me out of a jam - Thanks!
What's good is that they're open early and pricing is fair. But when I called for a tow they said 8am and showed up half hour later. Whatever that's fine but when they got there they told my husband that he needed to get a smaller tow to remove it. 2 hours later I call back and say what's going on. The man who answered the phone said it would have to be after lunch because they weren't coming back. He never told that to my husband who is standing out there with our toddler in this heat. Then he said call someone else! Totally upsetting
Called them for a tow and they refused told me to call 911 because they are not allowed on the highway and i did the 911 operator transferred me to state police who explained that the tow truck is allowed to come on the highway contrary to what i was told so i called them back and they said they can't again and hung up on me without trying to help.
Charlie misdiagnosed our mountaineer said it was the timing chain and he will not replace it. And wasnt very pleasant saying it. Had found out from our friend that it wad as simple as aleft bearing nut being loose. Will never go to C&C AGAIN . SO PLEASE GET YOURSELF A SECOND OPINION BEFORE YOU HAVE CHARLIE THE GROUCH FIX IT...
Been going to C&C since the early 80s. Never had a problem. Gets the job done with no drama. Just don't expect much elaboration on a given problem. Charlie isn't known for his "verbosity"
