Outrageously expensive. The same alternator priced commercially at $360 was sold at AutoZone at $256. The shock however is that the same alternator is priced at over $700 if you don't have a commercial account.
My friend bought a battery about a month ago. The battery diehard silver was bad, he went back to have it replaced since it was still under warranty. He was told that he would have to wait for an hour for them to charge the battery and then see if it was indeed bad before they can replace it. The other option is to pay extra $35 to get a new gold diehard one. Absolutely outrageous.Jan 23, 2026 -
My car stopped working New Years Eve.. I hired a mobile mechanic who told me it was the battery..I went to Advanced Auto bought a battery & had him installed it ( battery underneath the wheel well). Car ran for 3 days & stopped working again. Call another Mobile mechanic & he told me it was the battery...I explained to him it's brand new... He said You've had a tune up & have a brand new alternator is the battery..I go back to Advanced Auto & Steven ( who was very polite) told me he can exchange but no refunds. He has 2 batteries 1 from July & 1 from November... He'll give me the November 1. I get to the store & he tells me the November 1 was in the wrong spot.. So he has to give me the July one. No refunds & no exchanges after the 2nd 1. Had my mechanic install it 3 days later car stopped working... My mechanic says it's the battery ...I went & took my car to an electrical mechanic on Central Ave just to make sure it's nothing else wrong .. Today is January the 12th .. I'm picking up my car now . Guess what was wrong with it? The battery... Another $290 on top of the $238 for the battery from Advanced Auto & 2 mechanics.. $120 & 80. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PART FROM ADVANCED AUTO AGAIN..& I stopped payment on that battery... And YES.. I will be bringing them their battery back...

Shows they open at 9am but person with key arrived at 9:12 and opened at 9:20. I waited outside and instead of "good morning sorry I am late". I was greeted with can I help you. As if he was the one waiting in 20°F weather. Came for a serpentine belt that broke on my way home. After being stranded OMW home at 2 am with no heat and low battey due to belt breaking. Google said opened at 9 am. Young Lady working February 2 was very pleaseant However, leadership gentleman was rude with an instigating manerism. Please replace key holder gentleman position with young lady that arrived on time and parked in front of store until he arrived. She also said good morning to me and other gentleman waiting in front when she arrived.

Poor customer service, they give you damaged parts and they don't want to take responsibility and they don't give you your money back, they don't take responsibility and they tell you as a customer that you damage the parts, it will cost them or the manager since no one takes responsibility for who is a manager and who is not a manager.

I will absolutely NEVER BUY anything from Advanced Auto or from this location… sold a faulty alternator, $300 down the drain!!! I lost my receipt & part numbers weren’t good enough to retrieve the transaction—they did not exist!!!! Not to mention terrible customer service, the female manager didn’t have sense enough to escalate the situation or recommend a solution… telling someone that there’s nothing u can do is absolutely unacceptable… just ghetto, rude & unprofessional!!!!

Horrible service helpful at all.
I stopped by after work because my front bulb went out. I waited because the rep was on the phone. I proceeded to ask him if I gave him my phone number if he would be able to tell me which bulb to get? He said no, I would have to TAKE THE BULB OUT so he could tell me. I explained, "I'm not sure how to do that I don't have the tools. He advised me to ask one of the guys in the lot. I then called my Advance Auto location in Brooklyn, gave my make and model and they were able to help me over the PHONE. A customer in the store then helped me find the bulb because he was still on the phone, and I guess another that was called off of his break rang me up. The only reason this does not get a 5 is because of the initial mgmt encounter. I would to give Iyonnah a 5 star. She was professional and resolved my issue immediately. I was grateful that she was able to assist. She deserves a promotion

Friendly co workers and Manager. Had a issue with my receipt barcode and couldn't help me at a different location. I took it to this location and they helped me out and I was able to get my money back. I appreciate ya !!

I called to check prices for a tool and to see if they had in stock. I was told “you’ll just have to come in”. Definitely NOT going in to this location, and they definitely won’t be getting my business. Gawd awful customer service from the get-go!!!

I went there for front brakes the guy gave me back brakes. I did not know until we got back to the place and they started working on my car and the dude said these are back brakes I thought you wanted your front brakes done had to get it over to take the brakes back and then they called another store to get the brakes I was like I'm not doing that. Than reimbursed got me some break from another place at a cheaper price.

I start out by saying this. The attitude of the employees are terrible. The lack of patience, professionalism, and not just to me, but to other customers. I watched as they were short with ppl and as a consumer left the store the employees talked about the person in presence of other consumers n this is upper management . The purpose of me coming into this particular branch is because I purchased the wrong item from another branch n there was too much traffic to go back n exchange it. So I went to my local AAP NEVER AGAIN WILL I STEP FOOT IN THERE. My experience with there attitude and rudeness was enough. Lyons avenue n Maplewood are the best locations to go to.

Good service knowledgeable staff, however they did not have the parts available for my 97 Mercedes and they lack a lot of parts for older European models without even the option ordering them, hence the 1 deducted. Other than that, great knowledgeable staff and warranty and exchanges w/o questions.

I bought a new battery with a warranty that wouldn't hold charger I later found out from a mechanic. After buy a portable jumper for 80 bucks they refused to honor my warranty I guess because I'm a woman.that place is only good food loner tools for the street mechanic out side in the parking lot at least there you can get quick Service on a car repair right away at a good price just for the labor.

Great place, they greet you very kindly when you walk in. If you need help or look like you need help, they're right there to help when available. I say when available because a lot of motorists enthusiast go there. But, don't worry it'll be 5 people in front of you then all of a sudden it's 1 person. It's very well litted inside store with spacious open aisles.
