I had a truly great experience at Pep Boys, and I highly recommend this location—especially Chris, the manager.
A friend referred me to a mechanic, who then referred me to Chris at Pep Boys when my car needed a significant amount of work. A few days before bringing my car in, one of my tires blew out and I had to call a company to help put on the donut. It was a stressful situation, and I already knew the car needed attention.
When I arrived at Pep Boys, Chris was incredibly helpful, kind, approachable, and confident that he could get everything taken care of. After inspecting the car, we found out that all my tires were bad, both brakes were completely worn, my regular lights and high/low beams were out, and the rear passenger caliper needed to be replaced.
Chris went above and beyond by calling several stores to try to locate the caliper for me. Unfortunately, the only one available was through Nissan, and it was extremely expensive—more than I could afford. I reached back out to the mechanic my friend had referred me to, and he directed me to a junkyard where I was able to purchase one from a vehicle with only 3,000 miles on it—basically brand new.
I brought the part back to Chris, and he and his mechanic installed everything and made sure my car was completely safe to drive. What I appreciated most was how Chris kept me informed every step of the way. He communicated clearly, explained everything in detail, and never made me feel pressured or confused.
If you’re looking for honest, reliable service, I absolutely recommend Pep Boys—and make sure to ask for Chris. He’s the person you want handling your car!
This is the first time I brought my car to Pep Boys and last. I needed a tire replaced due to a shard of metal puncturing it on the highway. Because my car has 21” wheels, they had to special-order the tire, which cost nearly $500. Annoying, but understandable.
What is NOT understandable is that while my car was in their care, the staff somehow managed to run my vehicle into a lift at the wrong angle and destroyed yet a second tire, which won't be in until the next Monday. So now, through no fault of my own, I have to return yet again on another day I don’t have time for, all because of a pure lack of competency. I understand mistakes happen, but a mistake is minor. This is costing both the company and I unnecessary time and money because of a lack of diligence and care, and was completely avoidable.
Yes, they are replacing the damaged tire for free, but that is the bare minimum after damaging a customer’s vehicle. The lack of care, quality control, intelligence, and respect for customers’ time is beyond unacceptable.
If you value your car, especially anything with larger wheels or low-profile tires, take it elsewhere. I certainly will.
Caught a flat tire bout half a mile from the shop and pulled in. Devon got this young guy yusaf to change it in 10 minutes with a brand new tire and i was on my way. Nest service out of any pepboys around.
My daughter popped two tires and I took them to pep boys to be replaced. All the guys from the check in to the check out were fantastic, so polite and very kind. They had them replaced and back on in just a few hours. I've used pep boys before and really trust their work.
My car broke down after 3 different errors flagged all in a row and lost power. Had my car towed to their shop and arrived around 3pm and by 3:45pm it was fixed (belt broken). In and out faster than I could have imagined. Not always the case (I have waited several hours for a simple flat tire, but it is always due to how busy they are). They were quick and efficient this go around so happy it all worked out!
Horrible experience and customer service. SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT for a simple tire plug. Was told an hour. After an hour and 15 minutes I asked how much longer. Turns out they hadn’t even brought my car back yet. I had to pick my son up from preschool so I no longer had time to wait. I asked to just have my keys back and the man returned them with an attitude and didn’t even offer an apology for the extended wait time. They definitely forgot about me. No way should a tire plug take an hour and a half or more.
I was told my tire were going to be in Friday 11/21/2025. I arrive tires weren’t ordered. I was told on 11/21/2025 that the tires were ordered for 11/22/2025 between 10:30-11-00. I arrived and no tires. Got to be more careful. What a waste of all the time. Brandon got the tires ordered and put on

Pep Boys in Stratford is fantastic! I came in with a flat tire, and the team got me back on the road in no time. They were incredibly friendly, transparent about the costs, and made sure I understood each step of the process. I wish I could give this Pepboys more stars but unfortunately 5 is the greatest amount. After having my breaks “fixed” by a family friend my front tire started to have problems and needed immediate repair. Unfortunately my mechanic was on vacation so I needed someone new. A co worker suggestion here. I walked in and was greeted by Chris. He was welcoming, super nice, and listened to me completely even though I probably ranted all over the place because I know nothing about cars especially tires. While they repaired my tire the noticed something extraordinary. My breaks that MY MECHANIC replaced were only replaced in the front. He so easily accepted my $700 but failed to replace the back rotors and break pads. I was driving around that way and had no clue. Thanks to Chris and his team I was made aware of what actually was going on with my car and I promptly had them replaced. It’s place’s like this and people like Chris and his team who actually gave a crap about me and the safety of my son. Thank you guys for being honest and making sure that I was safe. Highly recommend this place.

Chris kept me updated while I waited and was super friendly and easy to talk to. He helped make the whole process feel less like a chore and more like a visit with people who actually care.
Justin, who worked on my car, was fantastic. He took care of the tire replacement quickly and professionally, and it’s clear he really knows what he’s doing. It’s always reassuring when the person actually working on your car is also the one making sure it’s done right.
Devon wrapped everything up at the front desk with a great attitude—efficient, polite, and easy to work with. He made checkout quick and pleasant.

I needed my AC fixed. They said drop it off at 10:00 they will call me with an estimate. 3 hours later I CALLED THEM back. They said I needed a new AC compressor..$2842.19! "Hybrid compressors are expensive" they said! I went to S&L Auto... my AC was fixed in under 2 hours.... YOU CHOOSE 🤔🤔
I left my car there. I waited for 7 hours and they didn't do it. They didn't call me back either. When I went close to closing time, they said they couldn't do the car. I guess if I hadn't gone for 2 days, no one would have called me. I wouldn't recommend it. The guy at the reception closed his eyes and slept for 5 minutes while he was making my appointment.
Took way too long to get a diagnosis. An evaluation should take 15 minutes tops. I made an appointment and stayed at the store so that it would get done quicker, but as usual, that means nothing. Then, after an hour and a half, they told me that I'd need a new compressor for my car which costs an arm and a leg. I can't afford it, so now I will have to have a heat stroke every time I drive my car. Thanks for a whole lot of nothing, Pep Boys. I'll just die.
The service here was top-notch. I’m sorry that I forgot the name of my tech, but both of the gentlemen that helped me upfront, Sean and Christopher were also terrific. I was getting new tires installed. Unbeknownst to me, I had a wheel lock that I didn’t have the key for. I was able to obtain the key from the dealership, and return to have my tires installed. They were patient, informative, and thorough. Because of the wheel lock, I had to reschedule for the following day and they put me in as soon as I got there. My tires were installed quickly and efficiently. A smooth ride from start to finish!
First let me say the 2 Managers I delt with were very professional and nice. The kid at the front desk was also very courteous I had enjoyed my encounter with them the prices on tires are very competitive. Other then that this place kina falls flat. First off i was told that getting my 4 new tires installed would take 45 min mabey alil longer..... I knew that was a lie as there were like 6 people in front of me ended up being 3 hours..... 2nd when I went out to see my vehicle after paying I noticed that there was white grease all over my tires and rims from the mounting process and all the tires were overinflated by 7lbs. And as I didn't want to be there anymore I said screw it I'll just clean them myself even know 1 day prior that had been cleaned.. what ever 3 hours get me out of here. So then I get home and start to clean my rims and then notice all of my valve stem covers are missing. So I drive all the way back and ask the manager for my stems he's he will get them I walk out side and a tech came up and says sorry and starts putting on the valve stems on I then said you know you guys left alot of grease on my tires he said we were realy busy and then just walked away instead of asking if he could FINISH HIS JOB AND CLEAN THE RIMS OFF. Nope! Instead I cleaned them for the second time in 2 days. Very unprofessional! I realy hate to leave this review but I had to share
Went to get my oil changed & tires rotated. Needed it done in a pinch and they got me in & out quickly! Did a great job & pricing was very fair. Will definitely go here again when I need maintenance
I’ve had the best service with Justin! I drive all the way from Philly to come here for my car whenever I need anything done because I only trust them! I been to other places and they had never helped me and told me things I needed to get done meanwhile I’ve already got the car parts fix a week before. When I took my car all the way up to nj at this pep boys Justin did a full check up on what I needed to only get done. Very professional, fast they don’t keep my car unlike other places I’ve been too they kept my car for almost a whole day, they get the job done in a few hrs! If it’s necessary due to ordering parts they tell me in advance!!! Highly recommend 10/10!

Maybe it’s this location but I had a horrible experience after spending 2200 I picked up my vehicle for it to have issues that it didn’t have when I dropped it off and what I paid for it to be repaired was not properly repaired. They ended up having to have the truck towed back there taking another day and a half to fix the issue. I don’t trust the shop. I don’t feel comfortable with their work overall pick or try another location. I used to use Pep Boys in New York City. I also used them when I moved to toms River this location was just not it first time I’ve had such a horrible experience
Christopher hooked me up with everything i needed to know about getting my car fixed. how much time it might take when's the best time to get it done. How much it would cost if i did it all how much it would Cost if i only did the major things and why. Printed the Sheets for me to be able to review and come back prepared for the actual Fix.
It did take me like 2 hours to get that but i just think they Desserve to have better equipment and systems invested For them to be able to do these things. Otherwise i was worked with kindness patience and the best of heart.
I recommend you guys to check your car before leaving it and also the parts you want to change. I have a blue 2021 honda accord. I had to take it to this bad place called Pep Boys. Since my tire blew out and I called twice to ask if they had the same tire. They told me that it was available and I could take my car to change it. . I wanted a good year. to match the other 3s but what I received was a kelly, which was not to my liking. . They told me they would change it. I came back a week later to change my tire. but this host of horror does not end here. They broke my passenger side skirt. And a month has passed and they are not worthy of calling me to give me a solution to the damage to my car. I have called more than twice a week and they only know to tell me that the store manager is not in at that moment
I do not have the option to leave without stars, but if I could I would. After doing my first oil change with them a couple of months ago I had to take it because my car required it, The incredible thing about all this is that another mechanic explained to me that there was no possibility of doing any oil change until it was resolved because they had placed a blue temporary sealant around it. Now a day before I had visited them to let them know that I needed their services but I had also noticed a temporary blue sealant around the crankcase plug and oil residue around it. The service manager just told me that they put that temporary blue sealant on so that the next mechanic to do the service would have to remove it and they cover their backs if any damage occurs to the crankcase or the crankcase plug. After he gave his reasons, it seemed very smart to let them remove it themselves and do the work.
What was my surprise minutes after I left my car? They call me to tell me that the gasket (A piece made of soft materials, which is located between two pieces "engine" and "Crankcase" to achieve a good fit between them, avoiding loss or entry of fluids, in this case "oil") was missing and that the cost would be an additional $ 30 to the initial cost, My answer was that I was not going to cover that cost because it was not me who caused that damage nor my mechanic because to remove that gasket, the crankcase plug would have to be removed, which still lay intact with the blue temporary sealant that they had placed themselves since the last service. Now this Service Manager got into an argument with me saying it was my mechanic who caused the damage and I told them that it was not like that because what he was saying had no logic whatsoever Because for someone who was not even a mechanic, it would never occur to him to move the crankcase without first removing the cap from the crankcase and draining the oil from it. In the end these people had to collect the costs and repair the damage caused by them.
Now my recommendation is to never bring your car to this place or waste your time arguing with such incompetent people and negligent. This Service Manager did not even apologize and by telephone he told me not to bring my car back, to which I replied to pray to God that nothing would happen to my car because they will see my face again.
When I arrived at the place to pick up my car after the service, the same manager attended me and, as expected, he did not apologize and did not want to argue with me again even knowing that the fault was theirs. Friends read the reviews before visiting these people and thus avoid bad experiences.
If I had the option to put 0 stars I would because this shows bad my experience with pep boys was today. I usually have issues with them finding my warranty information for my car only for them to find it 15-20 minutes later which also happened again today. I had an appointment for a tire rotation and alignment at 1pm today. I went around 5:30pm to pick it up. I was handed over the keys by Sharon in a ziplock bag which was a bit unusual to me because they normally hand it directly to the customer. She also was in a rush to leave which was offsetting as well considering the fact that she wasn't in there when I dropped off my car at 1pm. I went ahead to my car only to notice my key was completely broken. I have never broken nor damaged my key and this is certainly not how my keys were dropped off today. I went back inside to notify an older man at the front, but all he did was offer to keep the broken key overnight and "figure it out tomorrow" with no sense of apology or sympathy. I ended up taking the key home to keep for proof and simply because I knew they were not gonna be of any help. Apart from the broken key, I also had detailing done to my car two days ago which was over $150 and when I looked at my car I saw scratches all over the car from the hood, bumper, trunk, and even all 4 doors. I'm highly disappointed in their service as well as lack of professionalism to at least acknowledge that one of their team members have broken my key and damaged my car. I definitely will NOT be coming back to this location especially after today. I have additional pictures and videos from before it was damaged and after that but I have provided an example of the damage. Save yourself the trip and go elsewhere or to a different location at least.
