Terrible policies and traditions for an automotive shop with a "good" reputation; whether that is a blown up rating (4.7) by friends and family review bombing or legitimate good work, I'll never know.
First things first, they wont do any work relating to spark plugs or ignitions coil boots (COMMON IN CARS OVER 100k MILES). They then initially agreed to do my serpentine belt until a mechanic piped up in the background saying, "We don't install already bought parts.", he didn't ask me the name brand or source, nothing.
To put this into perspective even Valvoline and Pepboys will honor already bought parts.
When I asked how much to use their parts, they then tried to steer me to go to Pepboys and complained at how packed they were (not packed enough for a mechanic to holler at me in the background!).
I didn't need this done until May 12th mind you. Waste of time, Valvoline and Pepboys will do more work for less $$$ then this "renown" mechanic shop. AND they accept parts you can easily purchase from " rockauto.com " for a more friendly approach to general car maintenance.
Only thing this place is good at doing is up charging on THEIR parts to make the most revenue off of you. Not beginner car maintenance friendly AT ALL.
Hands down the best mechanics in the area! Not only are they knowledgeable in their field, but they are a pleasure to do business with. I have known the business for over 40 years and the reputation and character have not changed! So comforting to have that type of consistency this day and age.

Second time that I go there for an inspection/registration renewal. Call them at 8:10 - they told me that they can take me within 10 mn - I was out at 8:35 with a new sticker on my car. This is what I call being efficient at a good price!
I visited Spartan Automotive auto repair shop on Passaic St, Maywood to get my brake pads replaced. When I reached the shop, there were no customers and only one old person in workshop area standing beside a car browsing. I assumed he was the owner/mechanic. I asked him a single question "How much would it cost to replace brake pads?". He looked me up and down for a few seconds and said "It would probably be too much for you. Go find another shop. That's it for you today." That was the complete conversation. I couldn't understand what could have triggered such an outburst. I was dressed respectfully and have a decent car, I speak with an accent but I speak proper and clear English and I don't think he could have guessed how much money I could afford. After I left the shop, only thing that came to my mind that made sense was that I am brown person of South Asian origin and the shop owner is a caucasian person.
Going to any kind of place for your car as a woman can be intimidating to say the least, you always feel like you will get taken advantage of when going in alone. My car dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and I was recommended to go here. I called ahead and they let me know to bring it over and they would check on it when they could. In the same day they gave me a call back and informed me of my (several) car issues but also recommend I take it to a specialist since it was most likely a transmission issue. The guy on the phone was extremely informative, told me my options, and ran the diagnostics on my car free of charge-and I was expecting to pay at least for them checking the car. They said since they didn't do anything they wouldn't charge (truly I think they just felt sorry for me and all my car troubles). I never felt like I was being talked down on, or scammed. Everyone was kind and helpful. Id definitely recommend them! Honest people
As a woman you can’t find an honest mechanic. I have had the best experience here for years. The team here Is Amazing, friendly and they tell you exactly what you need and same days service, most times in hours. This is my go to mechanic forever.
Andy and Dan are so very nice and friendly. I highly recommend them. These guys are my new mechanics. I live in Rochelle Park so its very close. you will be happy with their service.
Andy is awesome. I went to him once because he was recommended by a friend and was so impressed. Now I have my whole family going there. He’s such a nice guy and very honest. I’ve never felt comfortable with a mechanic before him. If you need anything done to your car, Andy is your guy for sure.
My daughter and I were 2 hrs away from home when my muffler suddenly broke. I pulled in to Spartan Automotive unexpectedly with my emergency. They went ABOVE and BEYOND to help us so we could get home safely while on the highway. I am so greatful!! Thanks to you, we made it home safe, sound and in one piece!

This guy is a very reliable and honest mechanic. I have been to many mechanics and spiteful dealerships which give you the run around. He is honest and will take care of you and will do no unnecessary car work. I have been coming here for years now. Don't go anywhere else!
A friend of mine has been going here for years, so when there was something wrong with my car, I wanted Andy to take a look. Andy was honest with me when he discovered that my problem was a simple fix. I was relieved that it was not a big repair and I wouldn't be stuck with an inflated bill. Andy is trustworthy and I would be glad to refer to him to others.
I went during a non busy time (early in the morning on a Friday, and reading the reviews, I can now see why they are always busy) and Andy was so helpful and changed out a flat tire for me that I couldn't do myself. I also did an oil change and normally the mechanics just say they did the oil change, but Andy was more detailed on what he did with the work. That is excellent customer service to my standards.
Andy, was referred by a friend. He was pleasant and honest . Knew just what had to be done. Didn't try to sell me engine flushes or other stuff the chains try to up-sell you on. Kept me informed of progress. Got the car back clean although I don't like when the leave the temporary paper floormat in the car.
The owner kick me from the shop just because I pull inside the car I wonder if you need a service that's do you have to do I don't even get off from the car uneducated owner he was rude I believe he's not happy and wants to make feel another people his frustration
Was my first and last time the way he treat the costumer is awful never see somebody like him
