I have been going here since I was 13 years old with my dad. I use to climb in cars and hunt for coins and speakers and toys. Later in my 20's for parts. More than half the time they will say get out of here, and will not charge me. Now in my 40's these people are still around, still honest, and still give the best prices on all work. Thanks for being gems.
This place was recommended by a close friend and they did not disappoint, amazing work honestly. I needed my front bumper replaced on a budget and because I had the piece bought already most places didn’t want to take the job. Thankfully the guys here were willing to work with me and truly did a phenomenal job for a good price. I couldn’t recommend them more. I worked with Oscar and Chip to schedule my repair. I even got my car the same day within 3 hours.
Horrible service. Was scheduled originally for a tow on 10/23, was told they would be here at 12PM. Time comes, no show, I call back multiple times and am told the driver would be back within 20-30 minutes and be on the way to me. They then shifted to saying I was scheduled for today and the driver will come back and tow my car. Lady on the phone also told me I will receive a call if anything changes. Come 5 PM eventually, I get no call, and no one is picking up because they’re closed. I was connected to this service through Wheelzy - do not sell your car here by any means. There’s also a bunch of reviews here about bounced checks, I would take those seriously.
IF I could leave 0 stars I would. Scam scam scam. They take your car right away and give half cash and half check. The check never clears and they always have an excuse for why it doesn’t clear. I’ve been waiting 30 days now for my check to clear and still nothing.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO SELL OR JUNK YOUR VEHICLES) They have terrible customer service!!! Never heard of a broke company before I did business with this junk yard! I went to 4 different Check Cashing companies in the surrounding Area (Hackensack and Hasbrouck Heights) and they refused to cash their check due to their checks coming back as insufficient funds! This Company writes bad checks that can only be cashed at their bank (Columbia Bank) ! I sold them my car on Friday they post dated the check for the next day (Saturday) when they knew their company would be closed! So I was forced to wait til Monday! And when I called the old rude lady that answers the phone was so rude to me like I did something wrong by calling them to advise them of the inconvenience I was caused due to their bad check writing and she hung up on me!
Just like someone else I was given cash and a check, how convenient my check was also FILLED OUT WRONG, the owner gave me a run around, the secretary did too, after doing research I see bounced and miswritten checks are the norm. Another customer said they were told someone was ill I was also told “my husband had heart surgery yesterday” by the owner. She said she would call me back and never did and then today was her “day off” once I saw the horrible reviews I let them know I would be contacting the police and then a man took her and said we have cash available you can come pick it up I just don’t have a driver to bring it to you. Ppl shouldn’t have to go through this type of nonsense! $70 spent on a Lyft to Hackensack to retrieve money owed to me and that was only made right after a threat of legal action. It’s despicable
Liars and Fraud! I also sold my old car to them on June 18, 2025 and was promised $385. I received $100 in cash and a check for $285. The check bounced. I called to get this resolved and the manager is conveniently never in the office. Avoid at all costs. If you are a victim of their fraudulent practices, please press charges. In NJ, a bounced check over $200 is a felony.

The personnel are very friendly and responsive and provided me with excellent service in salvaging my treasured older vehicle and compensating me immediately and fairly with a combination of cash and check. The tow truck driver arrived at the scheduled time and was very personable, and respectful of me, my property, and my older vehicle. I spoke with the personnel in their office as well, and they were so very kind, considerate, and helpful in every way. I visited their office and found them to be friendly, neat, and well organized. I am extremely happy with having done business with this fine reputable company of Hackensack Auto Wreckers.
So recently my car was hit on the driver side front up above my tire so my friend referred me to Hackensack auto wreckers Inc and she told me to speak to Oscar wow let me just say Oscar is a very nice guy he looked at the damages and gave me a fair reasonable price the price he said was what I paid and they did a fantastic job. Now let me say when I read the reviews I was skeptical about going to them but I decided to take a chance and boy I’m glad I did because they did a great job on my car!
I took it in last min on a Friday an said if he could please have my car to be done and ready on a Saturday and he said he would try to do his best if not latest on a Monday which was understandable but he ended up getting my car done and ready on Saturday. Thank you Oscar to you and your employees for having my car ready and looking good..
I just recently had to get new brakes and other things done to my car. Oscar personally took care of me and did a great job. Everything i needed fixed, got fixed quick and efficiently. Also, the pricing was very affordable. I appreciate oscar and the rest of his team. They did a great job and I’ll definitely be coming back in the future. Thanks again!

Ordered a part after they assured me it would work without additional parts. Other mechanics and dealership told me I would need other parts. They said it should work since their mechanic said it would. I told them what the dealership said and they started claiming they are not mechanics. I said I can't take the one part without the others as it wouldn't work. They said it's my problem and I can do whatever I want with the part. Guess I'll have to take them to small claims court
I can not believe that this place believes they will continue to scam people. They picked up my old car 4-27 and gave me 100 cash and 369 in check which also bounced. As I have read here by most reviewers with same experience. I spoke to sally several times and she continues to give me excuses and promises that never come true. I have video and pictures of when my car was towed by them which I am going to be taking to the authorities and I will be claiming theft if this is not resolved within the next 3 business days! This is insane! I am fed up !! I wish I had reviewed the company before I agreed to have them take my car. So many bad reviews here. Everyone with the same story that the check bounced! “ I wrote the check wrong” if we continue to believe the stories we are at fault. Well it stops now! I will not let this go if it is the last damn thing I do! Three days and I am going to the Hackensack Police department with the issue! No one should have to go through this! . In my profession we take an oath to do no harm. I will make sure you do not continue to harm anyone else through your business deals … Sally of Hackensack auto wreckers you have 3 business days to solve the matter!
Update: unbelievable! Sally continues to write out bad checks to others. Coincidence? Nooooooo!!! Everyone has the same story! Even those who came after me!!! Just read more reviews and see that it has NOT stopped! Beware of this business! Read your reviews. Take pictures and videos when they are taking your car if you decide to do business with them. Also keep your emails, texts messages, and record calls. I did exactly this and was ready to bring it to court. This place should be shut down!!! Do not believe a thing Sally tells you.
This place is the, WORST!!! First of all, Cash for Cars, referred this place to pick up and pay for the purchase of my car. I had 4 brand new tires on the car I wanted off. The owner of Hackensack auto immediately deducted $100 off the original price quoted to me by Cash for Cars. She said, "I'm lucky if I get a dollar a pound scrapping the car." WE'LL, that doesn't include the money they get for the cadilitic converter, and the sport aluminum rims that were taken off to be resold. Not to mention, when you scrap a car it's for scrap metal. Not tires! Then to add insult to injury it took me a week of phone calls and two trips to Hackensack in order to get my tires back. Do yourself a favor and avoid, Cash for Cars, and definitely, Hackensack Auto Wreckers!!!
Terrible experience. Keep changing time, you will waste time here. Never show up until called several time, still showed up 4hr 30 min late after never apologized. And they will not pay promised amount, but trying bargain. I would donate the car rather than sale to his guys. 0 zero star is appropriate.
We sold our car for parts at this place in October. They paid us cash and check. I deposited the check the day after they picked up the car. The check was returned refer to maker and my bank charged me a return fee. We contacted Hackensack and they told me to redeposit the check. I redeposited it in October. Yesterday January 31, 2024 my bank debited me for the amount of the check that Hackensack issued in October. I called my bank and told me that Hackensack put a stop payment on the check. Beware for those who will sell their car at this place. It is a 0 star but I can't post it with 0 star.
My girlfriend sold them a car she no longer wanted. The agreed price was 695$$ Upon picking up the vehicle they gave her 200$ cash plus a check for the remaining $495. Turns out, the check bounced when she deposited it! Don't do business with these crooks. They are not to be trusted!
If I could give this place zero stars I would. This place scams people. Thankfully I did not fall victim to the scam as the red flags were obvious. I used clunker junker to get a quote to sell my vehicle they routed me to this company. Since clunker junker is a larger company I assumed they vetted the companies they use…. Well they clearly do not. They had me sitting around all day for the vehicle pick up. I was told they would be here by 12 and after calling back, they didn’t end up getting here until 4 o’clock. I was told that upon them picking up my vehicle, they would provide me with the payment in the form of half check half cash when they arrived the check was 90% of the money, and the cash was 10%. Not only was that incorrect, but the check was also written out incorrect so if I were to cash it with my bank, the check would not have cleared.( this was done intentionally) I called the office and spoke with Kat, I asked her if they could Venmo me the money to resolve the issue and she stated that the manager Sally was out of the office at a doctor appointment and would not be able to resolve the issue over the phone and she was unable to Venmo me because she was at the doctor. Kat tried to manipulate me to let them take my vehicle anyway without getting paid. I called back a few minutes after that phone conversation and Sally happen to answer the phone. Clearly she was not at the doctors office, in speaking with her I told her that I was not comfortable with receiving a check from them and I only wanted cash for my vehicle. At this point she started screaming at me and told me that they’re not taking my vehicle and hung up the phone on me. I dodged a huge bullet in not allowing them to take my vehicle or excepting a revised check as a form of payment from them, as you can see their previous reviews have been horrific…. checks, bouncing regularly.

Customers beware!!! The owner Sally likes to try to scam her customers!! just like all the other reviews, she gave me a check that bounced. When contacted she would tell me that they would call me back and then never contact me or straight up hang the phone up on me.
To anyone who is having the same problem call the cops on them and report them for theft!!!!!

I am very thankful to have found Chip and Sally at Hackensack Auto Wreckers. Sally assisted me with finding a new front bumper for my car, answered all my questions. Sally was transparent about pricing and kept in touch when the parts came in, went out for paint, and when they were dropped off for installment. The turn around time was very quick! I will always recommend Hackensack and all staff there for anyone who needs any work done to their daily vehicles. Thank you again!!!
They are extremely friendly and have quick service. They accommodated me and did a nice job with my car. BUT the charged me THREE TIMES the price they initially quoted me to do the work on my car. Definitely use them just make sure to get everything in writing.
This place is absolutely a joke. A woman employee and the owner Sally is extremely rude, unprofessional, can't even keep the customers happy or help them out. All i asked is for them to give me the price for the tire and her employee was extremely emotional over nothing. The owner was even worst, can't even listen to the customer and start being nasty like the last woman caller. I know calling this place was the biggest mistake in my life. So if anyone wants to get tires, i recommend you guys not to shop there. These people are not friendly and unprofessional and all you're going to get is a nasty attitude from the owner and her caller.
I went there 15 mins before quitting time for a rim, I spoke to Sally who was juggling answering multiple phones and helping me. I said what I needed she looked it up. I left a $5 deposit. When I got home, after they had closed, I noticed she had written the wrong year and size on the deposit receipt. I called first thing in the morning so they could remedy it and not waste time and resources getting the wrong part. The man on the phone seemed competent and wanted a picture of the rim to get me the right part (Sally did not ask for this) I sent the pic and when next I called I got her on the phone and she was so adamant she didn't make a mistake that she invented details in my visit that didn't happen like some employee checking my rim size and then ME leaving the office to check. Neither of which happened. Her accusatory tone, inability to take blame, horrible manner and complete lack of what customer service means lead me to tell her where she could stick my deposit. They made $5 off me, I hope it helps them cover all the checks they seem to bounce in the other bad reviews on here. $5 for me to post a bad review and tell everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague. Good deal.
