I've been reading a lot of these reviews from the past year, simply because I jumped on to check the Saturday hours as I've never gone on a weekend. I must say, I wonder if some of these guys just had a bad day , have zero patience (which would be no fault of Simms) or possibly are just generally mean spirited. I've been going here more than a year and have also been to several others prior to that. The scale, IS THERE AND DOES EXIST. Look up. The employees... I've yet to encounter even one that hasn't treated me kind and with respect and that goes for everyone from yard laborers , dock workers, the ferrous / non ferrous guys (always on point) and yes, even the "blonde woman" (sounded like some inferiority or insecurity issues with that one). Money, always been fair and readily explain any discrepancies. Time, always do their best to get you in and out quickly . Think about it, time is money and that's why their there too right? I don't mean to insult anyone leaving these reviews but at the same time , I find it completely unnecessary for reviewers to insult the working people simply to make their point and in some cases satisfy their egos because they couldn't get their way in person. I could go on but, that pretty much sums it up so in closing , I would Simmply (couldn't resist the Simm) , this place has been all aces in my opinion and I hope they too see this and share it with their crew. Too many times all workers hear is the bad and this place deserves better.
Awful DO NOT GO HERE! To start with they do not your have weight displayed when you are on the scale which was the immediate red flag. I own and operate an estate company and go to scap yards all over the state and have never been to one that did not clearly display your weight. Then when the scale i tried to ask about my weight and the person inside refused to answer both going on and off the scale because apparently they just dont answer because they think its ok to ignore you. There is zero clearly visible signage as to where or how to get paid so I left without this dumpster fire of a business paying me. All of the employees were rude and untrained. The also only allow only one person at the pile so the wait times are longer than anywhere. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else and save yourself the aggravation. This place has zero respect for its customers. This is a grewt example of how to NOT run a business.
Poor service. Very unprofessional. After loading was completed, I had to wait more than an hour just to get the paperwork. The specialist clearly didn’t know how to prepare the documents properly. Small place, but very disorganized. Not recommended to take loads from here.
I will never go there again the owner that no class unprofessional blonde girl I do not do business with that kind and ps I was a good customer it look like they need all the business They can get your the only scrap yard but the worst you are!!!!!
Been there twice since new ownership no problems everything went smooth a little slower then expected but I'm sure they will work out the kinks. Will definitely be back again ....
Ok will the pay might be a little more then the other yrds but I'm an inpatient person so American isn't for me I don't like wasting time and there is a lot of that happening so good luck and no hard feelings
I understand new ownership will have to work out kinks. But they need second scale. Having to wait in line multiple times with incoming and outgoing customers takes too long. I didn’t even complete my transaction not worth it
Wasted a couple hours for 1 bucket of brass. Had to drive over scale , drop off 1 bucket of metal inside, then go back over scale . Crazy. I will give the new owner credit they did respond to my rating. 1st day in new system and hopefully things will get smoother.
All good! It is good to have American Recycle to be able to recycle metals(light iron). They take aluminum and copper at higher rate. The yard was organized and safe.
They had the parts I was looking for. Also, word of advise, BRING CASH!! If not, they charge 8% to the total of your bill if you pay with a debit/credit card.
Definitely recommend this place I love going here the costumer service and the people who work here are great prices are always better then others, and your in and out !
Been going here since 2007 . Never had a problem. Top notch service, most of the time they unloaded my trailer with the grappler or the magnet. Even bought some parts from a truck that had just come in , bought all the doors off the crew cab truck . Gary gave me a super deal on them. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The owner was always nice to talk with. As well as everyone who worked there..
I gave a bad review for my first experience here but ended up giving them another chance. I saw the outside scale this time. The lady working the scale was super friendly. It was easy to navigate through there too. Sorry for the original review.
Been to every scrap yard in South jersey these guys for some reason always pay less but other then that good service pretty cool ticket machine that pays u in the office I will return hope they up there prices tho
Straight up GRIMEY!!!! They lied to me saying that I was being sold a new battery when it was in fact used... then charged an additional 5 dollars to use my debit card.... NEVER AGAIN!!! Don't trust this place EVER!!!
Rude customer service. Mocks its customers picking up their vehicle. Has a dog in office that jumps all over you and no sign warning about animal. Tracked mud all throughout my car. Does not except credit or debit when picking vehicles up but accepts it for other services. Kind of sketchy. Horrible business
