Didn't go there , just looked up the address. I'm sure it's a great place so i will try to get there at some point. Thanks for being there , old man's junk.
We heard so much about Old-Mans Junk and his adjacent Grumpy Grill we just had to drive up from VA to see what the fuss was about. We took a self guided tour through all the antiques, collectibles, and self described ‘junk.’ If our vehicle wasn’t already packed to ceiling with infant and toddler roadtrip necessities, I’m certain my wife would have found plenty of unique items our home couldn’t live without.
After our stroll through history and introducing our daughter to rotary phones, we headed across the parking lot to the Grumpy Grill. There we met the Old Man who was serving up his world famous attitude. When my daughter ordered chips he promptly tossed them at her nailing her square in the head. His aim was flawless, he could shoot the wings off a fly if he wanted. When we ordered hotdogs he asked if we wanted ketchup but left no time for a response, knowing that ketchup is a cardinal sin on any hotdog. Then without even needing to ask he handed our 5 year old a popsicle.
We found a few seats in the shade next to the propane tanks. Of course I had to remind my toddler not to light up her smokes after she ate, she’s 5 after all and sometimes not fully aware of her surroundings. The Old Man eventually came to check in on us and decided to share another popsicle with our 8 month old, she was apprehensive at first but quickly took a liking to the grumpy old man.
10 out of 10 would recommend visiting.
Full disclosure: this review may be somewhat biased since the Old Man is family, but sometimes family is your biggest critic so take it as you may.
No children were harmed in the making of this review: The great granddaughter that caught a bag of chips with her forehead thought it was the funniest thing and loves her Buppa very much. It might be all the desserts he feeds her, but he’s won her over. He’s grumpy on the outside but has a heart as golden as the food truck he slings food from.
It’s rare that you can find a fun place to shop for something different, grab a hot dog or watch a pizza being made in front of you> without spending a million dollars! definitely worth stopping in next drive through Sunapee!
Such a cool spot! This place is part antique store, part hidden pizza heaven. The homemade pizza (with their own homemade sauce!) is amazing. Especially on this rainy day. Super cozy, tons of quirky stuff to look at while you eat. Totally worth the stop!
I guess you have to be old to get acknowledged. At this store, walked by the cashier, three times completely ignored. Most places at least say hi. She did acknowledge the older woman that came in after me.
