My family has been going here for yrs but within the past several months I've been yelled at for minor things like removing lids off coffee cans which I was starting to do as I got "a talking to" then today for metal lids in with metal cans. Now I had no idea they were in the basket I had dumped into the steel can section as I take trash not only for myself but for my parents. The same lady that "talked" to me before yelled at me saying "she pulls these lids out all day and they don't go here" I informed her I'd let my dad know since again wasn't my trash and she very sarcastically said "of course it's not your fault because you live with someone right" I stated that I did and started walking away. I hate social confrontation especially when there is other people around she was still muttering something when I started walking away but I was already upset. I immediately called my dad on my drive home and told him I will no longer be taking his trash and explained what happened. I honestly don't know what that lady's problem was but she definitely could have been nicer about it
Ive lived in town many years and I avoid this place at all costs. Every time I go they charge me for everything imaginable. Wooden chairs? Really? It's worth the money to get a dumpster or trash service to not have to deal with the older lady there. Bruce is amazing to work with. Respectful and up front. No condescending comments.
Google keeps changing the hours. For accurate hours you must visit the town website. Make sure you pick Wilton New Hampshire or else it will default to Wilton Connecticut.
And arrive 15 minutes before closing.! Especially on Thursday!!
If you don't know where it goes, just ask! There's almost always a friendly staff member to help. (Federal and local regulations change over time and so do the waste buyers.)
The recycling center is a great place. It was unfortunate when they took the still good shed away but amazing when they found a way to work with the town residents to bring it back. The staff are friendly and always helpful. You can't ask for a better town dump.

The improvements at the recycling center over the past 2 years have been excellent. The process is much easier, the grounds are clean and well organized and logical.
