Goldpoint is one of the hidden gems of Nevada. It can be hard to find but I think they like it that way. Desert dwellers think the treasure hunt makes the treasure more sweet in the end. Don\'t expect this to be a city slicker's town. You'll find the barkeep wearing a Colt Peacemaker on his side and he is quick to tell you that he is the law, the judge, the fire department, the bartender, the historian, the cook, and the janitor. Goldpoint feels like a true step back into the wild, wild west. I suggest making this a early fall/late spring trip.

We shot part of our Documentary 'Real Haunts: Ghost Towns' here. A real piece of mining history that will make you feel like you traveled back in time. Meet 'The Sheriff' Walter Kremin and he may invite you into his saloon and give you a tour. Walter has been living here and preserving this town since the early 1970s. This location is very remote so make sure you have plenty of gas, food and drink before you get there. Worth the drive!

A little off the beaten path but very scenic. Great for pictures but many of the buildings are inhabited so no exploring

Hands down, this is one of the BEST ghost towns you can visit anywhere, bar none and believe me, I've been to most in the west! And, while it may not have the classic feel of a Bodie or the Knotts Berry Farm amusement park feel of a Calico, it really has the feel of time frozen in place with people, albeit just a few, still living there. Of course, there's TONS of great history surrounding this wonderful town and all of it is a must to explore but its real charm, the main reason why you should off-road your way here from a place like Death Valley or even make the side trip from the 95 in any car, it's to pay a visit to Walt at the Gold Point Saloon. Now only will you get to see a ton of cool stuff everywhere and inside and out, but you can also saddle up to the bar, enjoy great conversation and enjoy some libations amongst friends. And, being that this is all being done with friends, a contribution of whatever you feel the fun was worth is always appreciated. I should note that depending on when you come, food is available as well and it is delicious. This is without question one of my favorite destinations and I highly recommend you check it out to experience it for yourself.

Such a hidden gem with wild west and gold rush vibes. It's a small town, but if you're a photographer, you can find a lot of great spots for your pictures. Maybe fun to have model photo session. It wouldn't be a primal travel destination (unless you're hunting for ghost towns), but a pleasant stop for your road trips or bike touring.

A living ghost town but anti social people, "get out of town" vibe, you cant tell which building is owned by someone or "just there to be there" decor. Almost ran over one of the dogs since he got out and ran towards our car. we stopped and the owner was good but now get out of our town in a polite manner.

I think it is such a wonderful piece of history. About the only thing to do is to go on a hike and look at the pretty landscape and buildings. If you see Walt, he may take you into the saloon for a cold drink and to see the nice memorabilia. The saloon is very much like a museum - very interesting history. The online descriptions are misleading - as far as I could see, there are no longer any bed and breakfast or RV hook ups to rent or any other businesses there - just the saloon.

It is a "living ghost town", there's folks there to preserve the integrity of days gone. The saloon is open and there's lots of "Kodak moments" for photographers.

Quite an experience here, we were hungry and the owner kept saying he would feed us and he did. The town reminds us of Bodie Ca., very typical of most of them, but well worth the visit to a town of 6 people.

Sadly, the bar wasn't open when we visited, but still a cool historical town. One of the guys in the group who's been coming here for 30 years informed us of the history.

Interesting old gold mine ghost town. Luckily the owner was just closing up when we arrived at midnight and let us set up a dry camp for the night. Old vault style outhouses great for #1 not so great for #2.

I went with some friends and we camped out nearby. Walt, the town's caretaker and saloon keeper, was super nice and accommodating. The beer was cold but cash only. There's no internet out here, so no credit cards. If you're into western history and hanging out in awesome historic saloons, this is the place.

Gold Point is a hidden gem of ghost towns in western Nevada. Your experience may vary, but a reasonable dry camp, hot showers, antique vehicles, equipment, houses, mining operations, and vast mountain and valley scenery are all there.

Nice little ghost town. The one person we met was very friendly. The town has about 15 to 20 folks living there.

We stayed overnight in one of the larger miner's cabin, with meals. The entire experience was wonderful; we loved it! There is so much to explore on the grounds, and hope next time we're there the saloon will be open.

Little historic mining ghost town. We stayed in our car and didn't bother to go outside. We didn't see anybody so we kinda got scared and left.

What an amazing experience. History and hospitality. This old place is a gem and a treasure....

Not worth the trip in December. Can't tell which buildings are inhabited and the whole place seems a bit hostile in a 'don't bother me' way. Also, it's just another semi abandoned NV mining town ... nothing special.

I have been going to Gold Point since I was a little girl. It is historic and quiet. It you are a jeeper or you just love the outdoors, you'll love Gold Point. Go there for Memorial Day and the historic buildings will be alive with people.

Goldpoint is an End of the Road destination where there are maybe 25 people live and work. The area is mostly Noble Metals mining area and houses some of the older mines in the area there are no restaurants there is no Motel there's no gas to speak of, one gentleman there in town has gas for sale at $4 a gallon so don't go there with an empty tank

Amazing little "town". No amenities other than the bar. Very friendly people and tons of history

This is one of my favorite place. Reminds me of Wild West movies. Will check this place again in winter. People still live there so be respectful. Also watch out for the hares and quails. Drive as slow as you can so you don't stir dust.

It was very nostalgic with retro vehicles everywhere you go. But it was quite confusing as most of the abandoned houses were actually habitat by people.

Because an old friend owns the place. .. And the memory of my visit still lingers with me. ... Walt, you're the best !
