I brought in 64 lbs of mixed copper and brass plumbing pipe to Pacific Recycling, and was paid $49 total after it was classified as “brass breakage” at $0.75/lb($49)
Later I learned that if I’d been told to separate the copper and brass first, the same load could have been worth close to $220.
The staff never explained that, which feels unfair to customers who don’t scrap often. A little transparency about grading and sorting could go a long way toward building trust.
Tip: Unless you treat recycling as a fun hobby, rather than something you do when money’s tight, be sure to buy a cutoff wheel, saw, or torch, it might make a very profitable difference.
Came in to bring some stuff in, I'm a small women the big guy in the front being rude the one with attitude (not the nice gentle man cashing everyone out) thanks for making me feel uncomfortable, ginormous man giving a small women attitude being rude, my first time in the place and that's how it went. $50 for 2 Saturn Cadillac converters what a rip off I watched my person saw them off my car, and tried to say they don't match??
Not much of a choice in Havre. They're professional people for sure but the prices suck. Went to Great Falls and got almost double the price for aluminum and catalytic converters. If they'd bump there prices up to at least in the general neighborhood as their counterparts they'd be excellent.
