I have attempted many times over the past several months to get prices on copper from advantage metals. Only to be hung up on each time. No one answers. I wait with the music playing then suddenly it gets disconnected. I do not recommend this recycling center. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the only time, which was about a year ago, that I did get thru and recycled there. They had an on-site pay system. Or I'd of given this place no stars.
This place ripped us off over $500 because our son didn't tell them it was aluminum instead of iron. This was solid clean aluminum which a scrap yard should of known! We had 900 pounds and they paid us $45 and when we confronted them about it, they said there was nothing they can do! It would be worth the drive to go somewhere else! It pretty clear why they are called advantage metal!
It was not quite clear as to how to go about unloading our scrap metal, no staff present at drop off site. The staff that we did encounter for the batteries was helpful during that part of our experience with Advantage Metals Recycling.
Recieved a check today. Took it to their bank and it was declined. I was told to come back in two hours. Unable to do that due to appointments. Would advise another place
I went yesterday and had a small amount of aluminum, small!, but with that the service man at the aluminum house was quick to converge all aluminum into breakage although most was bare, #1 and priced it as scrap steel. Not a good habit to let your employees get into. I will be looking for a different place to haul scrap.
I like going there and scraping metals , thg hey usually pay the most around my area . I'm in warrensburg and the facility is in sedalia, it's usually fast paced, they get you in and out .
Don't go here much for myself but I do take an old friend of my fiance's family here when he needs to take a load or 2 of scrap in. I've never heard him complain about how much they give him for the scrap we haul in. He does tell me that the staff are always so nice and sweet.
Thumbs down, I called for hours of operation pressed three the recording said they where open 8_12. .drove thirty minutes with a trailer of scraps to find a locked gate.
I've probably hauled a dozen trailer loads to advantage over the years (Even before it was Advantage). Staff is safety conscious and professional. They have the option to unload shred with a magnet instead of just a claw. They also sweep the parking lot with it and as such I've never had a flat tire from Advantage. Accidents happen, but I've also never had any trailer damage from the equipment operators either.
So it's ok for a business to charge what they want .so blah,blah,blah bet you wouldn't run your mouth if KCPL just tripled your monthly bill or wait your probably on assistance
They low-balled me on prices compared to other facilities. When I told the gal other facilities were (in this case double) she said oh, well. Guess I will keep going to Lee's Summit.
Often when I've been here they have tried to price my scrap at a lesser grade. For example pricing Bare Bright copper as #2 insulated. Eventually they will give you the proper prices but you really have to watch them and be willing to keep your scrap for another day.
I've always been treated fairly and received fair market value for the material I have. People need to be aware that the folks here have a job to do too and it's not right for people to get upset because they didn't get paid what they thought they should. Keep an eye on the market. Sell when it's higher
Do your homework before you sell. Advantage is by far the best recycling facility around. We are blessed to do business with them.
