I brought my car in because one of my headlights wasn't working—seemed like an electrical issue. I got there at 9:00 AM. Not only did they spend five hours just trying to find a break in the wire, but then they spent another five hours running a new one.
And then, a day later, not only did the low beam stop working, but for some reason, the headlight started coming on whenever I turned on my windshield wipers! They also lost the cover for the light bulb. And now the headlight turns on when I open the door. The bulbs themselves aren't even secured properly, even though we had a deal that they would align the headlights properly. Now the beam is pointing all over the place.
In the end, I was stuck there from 9:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening, which made me late for a delivery.
And you know what? This was a minor issue. I'd hate to see how they'd handle a serious problem. Five hours to find a break in a wire, only to end up replacing the entire thing and wiring it God knows where!
The final result? I do not recommend them to anyone, because you'll just have to get everything fixed all over again after they're done. How am I even supposed to drive tomorrow?
And the best part? I had to pay almost 650 bucks for this
And who knows how much more I'll have to shell out to fix all their mistakes, plus I need to buy a new cover on top of that!
I sent my truck here, and they didn't just solve the problem, they created new ones that I need to solve. They did me a favor by not taking all my money. The problem could have been solved in 30 minutes, but they dragged it out to five hours. I strongly advise against it.
Needed 2 injectors and an overhead dropped my truck off Thursday evening 10/2/25 got the call Friday at noon it was all done got me the best price as an owner operator that means alot. You have definitely gained a customer. Open bay is awesome highly highly recommended.
Amazing people work here. We needed a patch on our trailer. I was busy around the office forgot that I sent our driver to get it fixed here. Next thing I know, my driver is on his way to get loaded. I asked the driver what happened, and he says the shop guys didnt charge anything. Of course business is business, but kindness goes a long way. I recommend this shop to anybody and is in the list of my favourite shops! Thank you, Steve!!

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. I had some injector cup issues on my isx15 and I had a critical load to pick up the next morning. They absolutely did everything possible to get my issue fixed so I can make this load on time. I was only about 30 minutes late which was good considering the work that needed to be done. They truly care about their customers and the price was more than fair. They are super friendly and the owner was a truck driver and truly understands time sensitivity.The next time I'm in Joplin and need some work done I am definitely going to this place.

Went in to Open Bay to get a broken air module replaced. Along with an air leak in my driver side steering and replace a air hose fitting on back of my air tank. Owners John & Bambi assigned Matthew to do the work. Air module replacement no problem. Air tank fitting BIG problem. It was replaced with the WRONG fitting. Matthew placed a 2nd fitting because 1st was leaking. 2nd he wrapped with pipe tape. We left after being told problem fixed. 3 hrs later system still leaking major air. Went back next day, they were busy but did try to address the problem in between truck repairs, but; not to a final conclusion. After sitting all day we voluntarily around 1530 asked if it would be helpful if we just came back at 0800 the next day. They said absolutely that would be a great help ! So we did... this being a 3rd day for a simple air fitting. ( NOTE ) this was a mistake on there part not mine. I even cost myself an extra day of lost potential revenue by offering to come back the next day ! This was on them, therefore they had the moral obligation to correct their error which C.J. finally did and we left happy customers. BUT THEN the next day our plans had changed and we didn't depart town. So we called Open Bay and stated that an air issue had gotten over looked due to the headaches of the air tank fitting. We were told they were very busy, approximately 2 hrs later the service writter called and said come on down. NOW UNDERSTAND this was a completely different issue from before. Hence a 2nd billable repair $$. So I wasn't looking for free repair work. 1st issue YES I paid for a repair it wasn't completed correctly costing ME three days down ! The 3rd issue NEVER was addressed at all. I called into shop to inform service writter we were in their parking lot; he acknowledged our presence, BUT; did not hang up phone immediately. In doing so we over heard through the phone the owner John making reference to us sitting in his parking lot making it very obvious that he DID NOT want to render service to us again. We're assuming that he felt we were there to have this separate air problem that failed to get addressed previously, fixed at HIS cost! AGAIN as I said before a 2nd BILLABLE $$ issue. We were looking to give them some more buisnes. But after hearing this AND taking into consideration that I made a special point to ask John the previous day if I owed him any more money? And he said NO ! And that I shook his hand and thanked him for his service!.... I'm sure you can imagine our shock at hearing John's words of NOT wanting our business over the phone. His service writter came out to instruct us to pull into bay two. But we informed him that we had heard John's statements over the phone and if the man felt this way. We would take our business elsewhere. The underwriter apologized on behalf of the owner and ask us to let him go talk to John because John was unaware that we had heard his words over the phone. We responded that he not worry about it and we left. I & my wife wish them well. But it truly appears that John didn't think this out and he is to overwhelmed with all the aspects of running such a buisness. Therefore not realizing how important customer relationships are especially just getting started. And how making ASSUMPTIONS can COST him potential money and FUTURE business. But despite the service writter talking to John about our leaving and why! (No call of apology.) With an apology all would have been forgotten and John would of had our continued business. along with that of ALL our friends on the road which are numerous...lol my wife NEVER meets a stranger she talks with anyone makes friends easily and has a roller deck along with Facebook full of people we've met on the road and become friends with. Unfortunately...not to sure she'll be talking about Open Bay Truck repair in Joplin MO anymore. If you read this far Bless your soul and we hope you gained some insight into this shop. Good people it seems, but not everyone is cut out to be a public buisness owner. God Bless everyone!
Best repair shop I’ve been to lately maybe ever these guys are super friendly knowledgeable and they got me in on a Saturday to fix my ac their prices are fair I would go out of my way to come back here they are 24/7 365 days a year also the owner is a truck driver so he knows the trouble us drivers face every day definitely don’t waste your time and money going anywhere else

These are great people. From the first call to the service appointment, to the service performed, to the post service, they have been great. They gave me pricing that was very competitive and the job was completed at the price quoted. I later returned to have additional work done and they once again performed expertly and within the quoted price. Everyone was very professional and very helpful. They also service RVs at the same shop rate as trucks. I would highly recommended them for service on trucks and RVs.

These guys are top notch, they helped me with trailer airbag that had blown out on me at a reasonable price and in timely manner on a Sunday. It is had to find that level of professionalism these days. They also gave me a gift. Thank you all guys from the customer service lady to the mechanic and everybody in your staff. They are fast and got me going quick. John did an excellent job and his customer service was on point and very respectful. I will recommend them to everyone
I came in with a coolant leak but no visible signs. They checked me in promptly and started diagnosing the issue right away, asking me to wait in their driver’s lounge. They quickly identified an EGR cooler leak and an engine issue, and instead of wasting time, they recommended I go to the dealership since both were under warranty. Best part? They didn’t charge me a dime, unlike some shops that bill just for looking at your truck. Honest, professional, and efficient.
This family owned business shop was recommended by my brother that also is a truck driver highly recommended and now I see why...they were so professional and so nice and was very reasonable and honest...then they gave me this after I checked out

This is the most reasonable price place to get your truck fixed. Although the sign states open 24/7 please call them before you come. They do have limited parking but there are 2 truck stops literally a half mile from them.
The Owner and staff are the nicest people I've EVER met and they will try to accommodate you in EVERY way possible

This shop rocks from the owners to the machanics i will start by saying the owners are some of the nicest and honest people that i have had the pleasure of talking to and meeting in a long time out on the road they went above and beyond to help and get the job done !! They are beyond far when it comes to the labor cost what i had done would have cost twice as much at any other shop and the work was excellent!! I had a serious issue with my truck being derated to 5 mph, which could have really cost me time and money. I brought it to Open Bay Truck Repair, and the mechanic there handled it with real patience and professionalism. He carefully ran an SCR test, performed a regen, and took the time to fully diagnose the problem. Thanks to his knowledge and persistence, he was able to fix the issue and get me back on the road. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for skilled and reliable truck repair service!
Called these guys because my truck died pulling out of a tire shop and wouldn’t stay running. They came out quick and diagnosed the issue, arranged the wrecker to come get my truck and brought his truck to take my trailer to his shop so I didn’t have 2 wrecker bills. This happened on a Sunday night, they gave me a ride to the hotel, picked up the part first thing the next morning, and had me back up and running by noon. Service was outstanding and price was very fair five anything done in the Joplin area I will definitely be calling these guys.
I first want to start off saying that I had read Dejan Ridjicki's review, and I chose to ignore it. As an owner-op local shops can sometimes be a blessing, in this case, Open Bay is the kind of shop that can put an owner-op out of business. I sent my truck in because of the fan clutch. Open Bay installed a new fan clutch. Long story short, not 200 miles down the road, the fan clutch went into the radiator and cost us over $6,000 in damages.
When I called Bill to ask how he could help, he dismissed me by saying it was the hub and said there was nothing he could do. At this point, I realized what kind of shop this was and simply hung up. Mechanics with no pride or accountability in their work should be called out, and that is why I'm writing this.
I had chosen to ignore someone else's review that could have saved a lot of heartache and money. I hope whoever reads this will not make the same mistake I did.

Best option in Joplin, MO. Shop was full and I was still in and out in under 2 hours for a U joint replacement. It would have been much less but we had to wait for the part to arrive. They have very KNOWLEDGEABLE PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS.
They charge you for the actual labor time. They don’t fool around and they get right into it.
My experience was great, I wish every Repair shop operated like this across America! Great customer service, very knowledgeable, and most importantly they treat you like family and not just an ATM when you walk through the doors.
I was in Litchfield, IL on Friday, I called up the owner and told him I was having some A/C issues. I explained to him that I was headed through his area the next day. He advised me to bring it in and he would have his A/C specialist check it out. I arrived, around noon. From there everything went smooth, I asked questions throughout the process I was able to watch but at the same time give the mechanic his space. A/C trouble was repaired and blowing out snowballs! In the end when the time to pay the invoice I received a bag of goodies.
I'd wish I could give ten stars, as a driver during the hard times we are facing with Frieght prices. I never felt as if they were screwing me over like 9 out of ten shops out on the road!
