Honest and helpful! I was told by Walmart Auto department that my tire (which was purchased from Walmart) was "rotten" and could not be repaired; however, they could "air it up and get me on the road." I wanted a second opinion, so I drove to Nixon's Garage. Amazingly, they repaired the tire! Thanks to Nixon's Garage for their honesty and integrity!
I lost my husband to brain cancer and he said that he was going to help me to fix my van and work with me to get it paid. I’m on Social Security disability I have a very very fixed income. I was willing to make payments to him and he let my car sit for four months I didn’t do, nothing to it at all. This is the worst garage in the world. I don’t recommend this place to nobody.
They were very knowledgeable, quick, and friendly. We had 4 tired put on, mounted, balanced, and an alignment done. We were extremely pleased with the service. Also, while sitting there we learned that all of his employees went to school for at least 2 years to learn what they do. We got to witness teaching moments that made the who experience even better. I was recommend Nixon’s Garage by a close friend and was decided to call. I was answered quickly by a very sweet and kind receptionist (Mari Nixon) and was given an appointment that same day. They quickly and accurately checked out my car for free and sighted specifically what was wrong with the vehicle. Mr. Rick Nixon gave a thorough and helpful explanation of what was wrong with my car and what exactly I would want to do or could do to fix it. He was excellent in providing options and when I sent my car in to get it fixed he fixed it the day of. They were respectful and transparent the entire process and I am super appreciative. Nixon’s Garage was excellent and exceptional to me and my entire family hopes to use them more in the future.
They picked up my Corolla and fixed it all in the same day. You guys are amazing. Everyone was so nice. I wish I could give you 10 stars. Fastest I have ever had a car fixed. Thank you so much.

My Nissan Pathfinder’s transmission completely failed in May of 2021 while traveling from Texas to Illinois. I was stranded halfway. I left it at Nixon’s for the transmission to be replaced. I didn’t get my SUV back until July and they charged me for two transmissions because their mechanic couldn’t get the first one to work. It was still messed up driving back to Illinois.

Above and beyond as always
Went in for an oil change Friday morning. Was told by Rick it couldn't happen till Tuesday. He was short handed. I was leaving and he called me back saying they were waiting for a tire delivery so they could do my oil change right now. I was in and out in no time. Thank you Nixon's Garage for coming through again you guys are awesome!!!

My 2020 ford explorer had slow tire leak and multiple errors popping up on dash (4wd fault, hill assist fault, service advance traction, etc) brought vehicle in, explained what was wrong and they said they would look into it. A few hours go by so I call for an update and the man who answered says they couldn’t find any leak on my tire. He also says my brakes are bad and will need replaced and that they haven’t yet looked at what’s causing the display errors but that with everything that needs fixed it would cost about $700 dollars. I obviously told him not to replace the breaks because they are PERFRCTLY fine. I’ve drove old, beat up cars with terrible breaks. My cars breaks are fine and not even slightly worn. I told him to just fix the display issue error messages and to check my cars transmission fluid. He said okay. A few more hours go by and they finally call saying they have my car ready. I go to pick it up and the man tells me the problem is that animals were living in my hood and chewing up the wires and that it’s fixed now. He also just says my transmission fluid is fine. That’s it. Nothing else. No more details than that. They end up charging me $232 for electrical wire fix and diagnosis. I, of course, assume they fixed my vehicle and gratefully pay them just to find out the second I go to drive the error messages all come back up. They told me they fixed a wire under the drivers seat. I told them I have never had any issues with the electrical wiring under my seat and that’s not even what I was needing fixed. They just said “well we fixed it so something was wrong” So I leave, vehicle is still broke. Tire still leaking air and I’m $232 dollars poorer. I had a gut feeling not to go back there since the guy had mentioned they would take another look since it wasn’t fixed. Come to find out later that night they had never actually checked my tire because I had locked hex nuts and they would have needed a key to get the tire off. So they LIED about everything. All of it. Feeling defeated and upset I decided to take it to Ford Fletcher in hopes they could actually help me. So I tell ford fletcher what’s going on and what the mechanics at Nixon garage said about an animal chewing the wires. Drop my vehicle off and they fix my tire leak AND the faulty error messages and explain in detail exactly what was wrong. Apparently it was an error code they had to fix. Only charged me $20 for the tire repair AND the labor/diagnostic time for the error code to be fixed. $20 DOLLARS! AND THEY FIXED MY VEHICLE. Plus in the receipt it states they did a multi point inspection and did not find any wires chewed or signs of animals living in my car. NIXON’S GARAGE IS A SCAM. GO IF YOU WANNA BE RIPPED OFF.
This is one of the worse places to come too, please read reviews beforehand. TOTAL SCAM. They won’t fix your vehicle, probably won’t even look at it and will tell you things need fixed that don’t need fixed and keep racking on the payment.
We weren’t sure if we had a slow leak in our tire, if there was a hole needing patched, we had errors for just about everything popping up, was not sure if our transmission was going out and a few other things going wrong at once, so we brought it in here thinking it’s probably cheaper than going to a dealer to get it in, we told them specifically what was wrong with it, they called us to say our breaks are going out ( which they 100% were not) so that was the first red flag. When I went to pick the vehicle up they said an animal was living in it chewing the wires up and how they took off our tire and there was nothing wrong with it at all.
We paid around 250 just for them to tell us that and how they “ fixed “ the problem.
The next day the tire was once again low, the car was acting the exact same way as it was before taking it in. They wanted us to bring it in again and I said absolutely not. The next week got it in with the dealer who confirmed nixons NEVER even checked out tires, there was a hole that needed patched and there was NO animal in the car or cheering any wires. What was wrong was faulty sensors that has to do with something completely different from what Nixons garage was saying. And the dealer only charged us 20$.
POINT IS this place scams you, lies and just wants to take your money.
Seeing other reviews say the same thing your best bet is to take it into a dealer even if it cost more or not at least they fix the problem.
Had our 30' motorhome towed here from nearly 200 miles away for an engine replacement.

While we are family, Nixon's garage was the ONLY garage in over a 300 mile radius that would even attempt this engine replacement! Trust me we spent a month searching for RV garages. Our unit provided many unique opportunities to test their mechanical abilities that even baffled the engine manufacturers!
Our RV is running better than it ever has AND has an unbelievable warranty! Plus there weren't any "extra" costs!
While you may not have a motorhome, I am confident and trust that you will have a better experience than at any other garage. Period. Regardless of the type of vehicle you have! RV's to Rat Rods and EVERYTHING in between!
Nixon's has been operational for several decades. That speaks quality to me.
Police had my stolen vehicle towed here. Rick the owner is by the book but explained everything to me very thoroughly. I drove from PA to MO after spending 14 days in hospital. He and his family are wonderful going above and beyond to help us. Forever thankful!!
This team is fantastic, and so knowledgeable! We rolled through town in our RV, 1200 miles from home and they were able to quickly toubleshoot our issue, all with a great attitude and confidence. Wish we lived closer, as this would be our go-to!
Had a tune up, the garage was able to get us in without much of a wait. They were professional and called us before doing any work to let us know what the cost would be. They didn't try to upsell us anything and were great to work with!
Came to Nixons with unknown issue on a road trip. They diagnosed the problem, busted muffler, and could custom build one quickly. Grateful to Rick and everyone here for taking care of us. God bless!
There are some great guys! They went above and beyond for me at my visit yesterday. I drive a small dump truck For work, and while I was on the job, I had an emergency situation due to a badly cracked wheel/rim… I needed to have a rim and tire both replaced ASAP! As soon as I called them, they made sure to have somebody ready and standing by as soon as I pulled up. They went above and beyond to help. I would highly recommend them to everybody.
My husband wanted them to simply tell us what was wrong with my car.. I paid $150 for a piece of paper. Then they asked for $1,500 to actually fix anything..
Ofc I am upset with my husband for leaving my car there!
I have NEVER heard of a mechanic charging so much for a diagnosis. Pretty disappointed that my car sat there for 3 days and nothing got fixed
Donny and Rick are very nice guys. Fixed me up and got me on the road pretty quick. Had to leave the truck over a night or two but wasn't too bad. Everything they do has a 5 year warranty. They did a great job. Reasonable price. Good customer service!
went in to get a turn signal fixed, truck got sideswiped in there parking lot and the owner says "I'm not talking to you about it" & walks off. Leaving me with more problems then I came in with, and a smashed up fender. No cameras in or around building so they have no way of helping you if something were to happen while you leave your vehicle there to get worked on. They would deny any involvement & leave you high & dry just like they did me. Said they would make it right multiple times.. only to lead me on. Truck was prestige when I took it in, now I have more issues then I started with. Can not be trusted. Probably have no business insurance. Would do you just like they did me.. would never recommend this shop to anyone
Everyone at Nixon's Garage was great. I had my kids with me and we were there the whole day. We were driven to lunch and the kids were given popsicles. Everyone was very friendly. They got us down the road. We were not from Joplin so I called my mechanic, whom I know and trust, to tell him what I was being told and the price I was being quoted. My mechanic confirmed everything was on par and we were being taken care of.

There are very few places in our day that put the customers first over the almighty dollar.
We began our journey with Nixon’s a few weeks ago when we purchased a used car from Mr. Nixon. We appreciated his honesty and he was great to work with.
During conversation we began talking about another vehicle we have that needed repairs. He threw us out an estimate which included coming to pick it up. We agree to proceed and he was here that night to pick it up.
Not only has he been fantastic to work with but he was very honest about finding that what we thought was wrong wasn’t the issue and the final repair bill was much much cheaper. So many of other not so honest people would have easily taken advantage of the situation.
We live around 45+ minutes away and we will gladly drive to Joplin to continue working with Mr. Nixon and his crew.
Excellent service! My alternator went out and Rick came to tow me and arrived within 20 minutes as stated. Rick and his mechanic both stayed an hour late just to make sure I got back on the road since I live an hour away from Joplin. Went to eat while they worked on my car, margaritas within walking distance. Rick kept us entertained. Price was exactly what I was told on the phone.
Nov. 2018: I was very pleased with my experience here. I needed a safety inspection and I was in and out very quickly. I'd come back if I needed more substantial work performed in the future.
Edit July 2019: Still very pleased with this company. My insurance provider used Nixon's Towing when my vehicle wouldn't start. Very professional and friendly staff. Even tried to help repair the issue before putting it on the tow truck.
