Great service from the guys unloading, both had great attitudes and chatted with me while weighing things up. The lady at the counter was very polite and made it super quick.
Dropped off some scrap metal. Unfortunately, my old beater pickup, 1996 F-150, had a radiator problem sitting in the line. A fitting had cracked. Two of their employees looked at the broken fitting, found a piece of tubing, installed it and recharged the radiator with antifreeze. Took it to a shop. No leaks. Excellent help. Got paid a bit for the metal too. Excellent service. Much appreciated.
Biggest thieves ever! Very rude employees, lady at scale changed numbers and stole 500 pounds, she then wrote it up as all steel @.05 when in was 90% aluminum @ .50.
The office said not her problem while the scale lady told me to load it back up if I thought she was lying. I then went back to get my money and NEVER return again and she walked away and never came back. I still didn't get paid. Turning them into the BBB but honestly they should be shut down. Nothing but hateful, lying, dirty thieves.
I used to really like this place. Haven't been there in quite a while. We were treated very disrespectful and rudely today. As they paid us about half what they were supposed to pay us for 500 plus pounds of stainless steel the lady working counter has a serious attitude problem! Brett used to be a fair and reasonable businessman. I guess not anymore huh
Horrible experience. I'll never go back. And I suggested others not to go there as well. I had two battery cabinets that had the sticker telling about hazardous explosion, but no batteries were in them. So they rejected my whole load of aluminum.
We tried to sell a bunch of e-scrap and sent over letters of release and gave them our business information and after wasting time and energy for 2 employees to run it out there to deliver it, they still refused to buy it. Don't waste your time.
If your not a business they dont want your business real bad customer services and will constantly act like you stole the stuff also will nitpick everything and not even know what there looking at the lady in steel area has no idea what she is doing i spend more time arguing with her about what stuff is then it takes me to unload i been going here 10 years and its just getting worse and worse go somewhere else
Only leaving 1 because there’s no negative stars to rate. Whoever the lady is answering the phones needs better etiquette! Very rude and disgusting person. Whoever the boss is at this company, please fix her attitude or get rid of her before she runs off more of your potential customers! You have a lot of people on here saying the same thing about your employees.
This used to be my favorite place to go until they turned into the copper police. They take old copper without proof of where it comes from but wont take new without a release from your company. They are basically deciding who they think is a thief or not as if old copper is just found laying on the ground. Like my boss said its not his companies problem to protect city scrap. Ive had a lot of good times here just not in the last year
Everyday it's something new at this place. It's conveniently located by my house but I think I'm going to start driving out of my way. I've literally been doing business here since I've been in this industry. Now they want to know where my washing machines that I'm coming to scrap, come from... Only scrap yard I've ever been that puts their customers through this kind of stuff. Not to mention they can't even run the scrap yard, people working down below can't direct the cars to stay in a single file lane, so the people that are going up top for scrap metal can get through. I'll be driving out of my way from here on out.
You have to make an appointment on Mondays only to scrap a set of catalytic converters. What an inconvenience to the customer and waste of time to have to take off work to take the converters in, especially someone like myself just having one set. I will just throw them away and not inconvenience city scrap with my business and not have it end up costing me money to recycle them by the time I take a day off work to do.
Very rude and unprofessional also will not give you a good deal made us wait a week and bring all kinds of documents Just to give us the lowest price on a Cadillac converter Do Not Recommend
They want you to get permission from your boss/company to recycle scrap copper. My boss wouldn't care, but now I have take time to go to the shop to ask my boss to take time out of his day to write me a permission slip. Your loss is someone else's gain.
I had previously been going to a scrapyard in independence. My last two visits were Langley however when I went to take a load down Saturday before Memorial Day, Langley said they were open on their website but was closed city was the only scrapyard open. I called to verify first, but when I got there, I’d never been there before, and I found a guy named John who immediately pointed me in the right direction and then I went and sat in a line that moved pretty rapid These guys were doing their best to keep the line moving when I got up to actually unload. It was John that I dealt with again. I did have two radiators off of an air conditioner, which John said they could not take that just because of regulations otherwise John was very professional And friendly, you got me moving quick and then pointed out where I go to get paid. I went in and presented my ID with my ticket and the Office staff was great all in all I have been in longer lines dealt with people that may have been having a bad day and didn’t know how to deal with it Proper making you feel like they don’t have good customer skills scrap. I didn’t see those lines. I didn’t see those attitudes. This was one of my best times on a Saturday and I will definitely go back and recommend them to others. on a sidenote, I drove 20 minutes to get there after calling to verify that they were open when I went to Langley and they were closed then read some reviews as I traveled out there started to question whether I should’ve spent the time or try to find out if anyone else was open which I found out later in my area there was no one open I myself I’m glad that I took it upon myself to try it
Over regulated , always making people jump through hoops, go somewhere else these guys aren't worth the hassle. Thanks for the reply but city scrap.is the only scrap yard that makes you jump through hoops year after year and treats it's customers like criminals. I've been going to city for 15 years the new regulations they have implemented are ridiculous,and they are the only scrap yard making it hard on the honest guys.
I take reviews with a grain of salt. People have bad days. People have good days. Welcome to life! Being new to the area, I wanted to try this yard out. I have been to several yards in my past and they all are the same in some areas and different in others. It was raining/snowing today but staff did what they do. I asked questions and always got answers back. The person helping me unload steel was very helpful and answered my questions about materials etc. Everyone was friendly. The person that cashed me out was very friendly and answered some of the questions I had. The setup of the yard itself is tight, but you can't do nothing about that. Overall, it was a good experience today.
I been coming here for years selling the same copper wire and scrap copper and never had a problem until now I felt discriminated they thought I stole the wire or something I recommend going else were
Worst place in the world. Had to give a 1 star to leave this message. IF YOU SHOP CARGO LARGO BID SALE AND HAVE 42k in receipts they will not take your 400 pounds of brass because the owners to busy driving.
I take all my scrap metal and anything else with metal that I’d otherwise throw away or take to the dump to City Scrap. Great payouts and the staff are always friendly and ready to help unload. City Scrap pays you for the scrap instead of you paying the dump to dispose of it. City Scrap is also located close to the dump so it’s just as convenient to get to. The dump is actually getting paid twice for the metal because you pay the dump and then the dump takes it to City Scrap and gets paid again
This place was flat out awful. Their system seems up is all crammed together. They treat you like you aren't allowed to have scrap metal. And they are very uninformitive as to why they have some policy that prevents them from buying your metal. Instead they just treated me like I just went and stole the metal I spent alot of time and hard work collecting in the heat. But, made it seem like I wasn't supposed to have my scrap!! I'll never waste my time nor any bit of effort going there again. Even the front desk women were short with you and treated you very rudely.
The outside process can be a pain, depending on where you got to unload. The office/pay area is on the back side so walking all the way back there is sometimes easier. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, tho at times it maybe difficult to find someone outside at some areas.
Been going here for only a week now and this will be my go to place. the outside staff is super helpful and friendly. The lady at the front desk is always smiling. i work for jackson county and even taking a big truck in we've always had room to get in and out. thank you all for running an amazing place.
I admit that I was a little concerned about going here based on some of the reviews, but the staff was friendly and it was super easy. Just be aware that you need to go through the entrance twice - once to drop off scrap and the second to park at the office to get your money.
If I could put Zero stars I would. The owner was very unprofessional. The site is very un organized and a lot of hazards and citations waiting. Also an extreme head ache to get around. They are a bunch of lying crooks as well. Very unhappy with their business.
Generally you can get in and out pretty quick, just be mindful of timing. Prices seem competitive and fair. Most of all for me, it's convenient. Today was probably my most efficient trip here, I was in and out quickly and the two young men working the scales were friendly and hard workers.
The guys doing the actual labor etc there are great and friendly. Wish I could say the same for the girls paying out the money. They both must hate their jobs and their lives. Every time I've been in there they have a bad attitude and just outright rude. If it wasnt for the guys out there sweating and hustling to earn their paychecks I'd refuse to go there!
Called them to ask if they bought 22.5 rims and didn’t give just normal scrap price of .06¢ a pound. The woman on phone was very rude, must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I told her the last time I went there I thought they gave more than normal scrap price. She began to tell me how she worked there for 11 years as, If I asked or something? Then, said they’ve never gave more for steel wheels. Like okay. No need to be rude I just asked a simple question. Management should talk to her about communication skills. Exactly why I go to Langley’s. Much better service.
Never had any problems, the guys in the yard, at the scales are very friendly - help unload. Almost like the military, which I used to be a part of, Team Work!! Units are only as good as the men that are in them. You guys have my loyalty!!
We recently took 2,700 lbs of metal to City Scrap, it was our first time there. The people were very nice and professional, helped us sort everything correctly and the process was efficient. Every employee was friendly, we definitely would go back!
