A fantastic use of tax payer dollars. The shed has space to dispose of used oil, oil filters and antifreeze. It is also open 24/7!
The last few times there I've been disappointed by the condition in which people have left it. People are leaving full containers of oil on the floor instead of pouring it out in the receptacle.
If you use the shed, please follow the instructions and dump your oil where it says to, don't ruin it for the rest of us by getting the place shut down because cleaning it becomes too expensive!
Excellent resource. Had about 8 gallons of oil and didn’t want to ruin an auto zone employee’s day. They take oil, filters and antifreeze. There’s also two dumpsters next to the shed to throw away your bottles which is super convenient. Right next to the army’s training facility, so a bunch of cool vehicles to look at on the way in. Very convenient self-service place to bring old oil and coolant. There is a dumpster to toss any empty containers you may have right outside the shed. In and out 10 minutes.
Good place to drop off lots of used oil and antifreeze. I was once denied access to the shed by the military without any reason that was kinda sketchy.
Open 24 hours. Self service oil dump. Accepts antifreeze and oil filters too. There is a dumpster for empty containers nearby. Close the garage door when you're done.
I was super glad to see this existed. But bummed when I arrived 10/27/18 and it was closed with note saying tank is full with no note as to when it will reopen. I had 20 or so gallons of used oil and a dozen filters all from 5 years of oil changes for a few cars. Ridiculous, I know. The kids and friends have taken to changing oil often. AutoZone kindly said they'd take 5 gallons per day. So I'm going there 5 times I guess. Oh well. Hopefully this was a fluke, because I can imagine some folks just dumping it in the woods. We should have a deposit on oil that pays for disposal and makes it lucrative for auto stores to collect it.
