UPDATE: they managed to ruin the store even more today, and I’m changing my review from two stars to one star. If I could give them zero, I would. They decided to re-organize the back area, which is now less than half as big as it was after the first time they updated it. So it is less than a quarter of the original size of the back area. I don’t get what they think they’re gaining by that. All of their unique stuff is also now being researched online for price before they post their own price on it. That would be fine if they asked something reasonable, but they’re not. If there is a tool that is $50 new, and they want to sell it as a used functioning tool, they shouldn’t be getting any more than 50% of new price. Instead, they are selling it for $45. I don’t think I’ll be stopping in here anymore, I thought they would realize the mistake they made by making the DAC area bigger. But instead, they decided to double down and hurt their business even more. Maybe in summer when they realize they should have just built an addition onto the building, or move that area to a totally separate building, I might stop back then. I really wish they would have just built an addition onto the building for the DAC people. I used to come here all the time when they had the entire back area open for building materials, etc. I bought an absolute ton of stuff here regularly. Now, with over half of the store being cut off and dedicated to DAC people, their inventory is extremely limited. The one thing that irritates me the most, though, is the fact that they have signs posted everywhere that says “we are no longer accepting offers. It is our job at DAC to provide the best experience shopping, blah blah, blah blah blah “. But essentially it says that because the money goes to a good cause you can’t make any offers on anything anymore. Which is just flat out stupid. Some of their pricing is insanely outrageous. They are a thrift store that gets stuff donated for free. If something is worth $500 new, that does not mean they should ask $500 for it. It means they should ask $125 for it. Especially because the condition of the furniture that’s there is obviously very well used and never worth what they are asking. They also decided to start offering liquidation furniture at discount prices. I think that was a pretty stupid move on their part because now yet again, they are reducing the floor space for other item. In its current state, it’s basically an overpriced furniture store with overpriced junk. It really pains me to say that, but that’s what it is. Every once in a while you’ll find a decent deal on something, but you only will buy something maybe 1 out of 3 trips here since it’s just not worth their asking price most of the time.

STOP TRYING TO GET NEAR FULL RETAIL FOR STUFF THAT IS DONATED!!!!!!!!!!! You guys went from a store that sold couches for $10 and hand tools for $1 each, to trying to sell liquidation furniture up to $1,000 and tools new in box for above retail price, $200+. Your used stuff is DONATED to you, you do not have some extremely high overhead, you do not need to ask as much as you are, you also need to stop with the stupid “no offers allowed anymore” you have stuff that has been sitting in the same spot for nearly 18 months straight. I’m getting real sick and tired of this place following in the footsteps of places like Goodwill. They start off with a good idea and mission, get a healthy amount of followers, then get greedy and start to rake people over the coals.

Nice place, you never know what you'll find! I was lucky to find audio books, a hammer (which I had been looking for to drive tent pegs) and some fishing equipment. I could also play with a very nice cat and have a chat with the store's staff!

The manager didn't honor the nice delivery guy's promise that the couch that didn't fit through my front door would be credited back to my card. She coldly said it's policy, I say it sucks -- they lost a longtime customer who's donated a lot.

I visited Park Rapids in September, 2023. I stumbled on Surplus Depot as I attempted a turn around on Hiway 34. The store is hidden behind the AmericInn. I enjoyed wandering in this place. I bought a couple medical appliances for cheap. I saw vintage tools, sports equipment, hardware, lighting fixtures, furniture, and more. I easily could have spent a few hours here, but needed to get on the road. I will always stop in here when I'm in the area in the future. It's worth a stop.

Similar to a habitat for humanity restore. They have used furniture, the occasional appliance or two, light fixtures, outdoor equipment, tools, bed frames, doors, cabinets, medical equipment, cabinet doors, etc. the items you'll find here will vary from week to week so it might take a few tries to find what you're looking for.

Always changing selection of used furniture, some used building supplies including windows, doors, and limited appliances. Seasonal sporting goods also used. An assortment of used tools, salvaged electrical, and the occasional true antique.

I like this place and are there quite a bit. But their prices are usually too high for the quality of the product. For getting all free items you would think that they would be more reasonable.

A large thrift-style store that has interesting items. A great place to find items like tile, doors, bathroom fixtures, furniture and lights at bargain prices. Friendly, helpful staff and tasty free popcorn to eat while you shop!

This is an eclectic place with a bit of everything. Most prices are good. Furniture, doors, cabinets, workout equipment, odds and ends, appliances, sporting goods, all used so you never know what you're going to find.

Love this place, it's just fun to go in and see all the random stuff they have. You can get a really good deal when they have a sale going on. Besides it supports a great business. Run by the DAC.

This is a cool place. It has a little bit of everything you might want or need for projects big or small. It seems a bit over priced. $8.00 for a well used plastic watering can, is way too much. I will go back though from time to time to see what they get in for donations.

You have to be careful because a lot of times they want just as much or more than buying new

Always has a variety of hunting/sporting gear&equipment+plenty of home improvement & lawn/garden items. In my opinion, they oughtta be a little more flexible on prices. I would have bought much more than I did on visits in which I DID purchase items,& on those visits in which I spent nothing, it was only due to thier unwillingness to consider adjusting prices of specific items in which I was interested, upon my request.

This is like going into someone's Garage in finding anything you need. It is a perfect place for people to find something for the projects that they are working on. This is one of my favorite places to stop

Items that are donated change constantly due to quick turnover making it fun and new to browse though each time you visit!
