This fly by night is a joke. They get off on towing seniors cars. They charge a arm and a leg to get it back. Put you through the ringer to get it back. All around just a bunch of ruthless people.

Business Owners BEWARE!!!!! Before chooseing to contract with this comapany, I encourage you to take a minute to read some of the reviews and ask yourself if YOU want to deal with all the headaches you'll have from your angry customers. Lots of iIllegal, unethical activity. Here is my story: Cedar Towing & Auction illegally took posession of my daughter's car from the lot of a private parking company. The manager who oversees the lot even verified that they should not have taken it; as it was unauthorized. When my daughter showed up and tried to pay to get it out, they REFUSED to release it until she paid some made up amount ($240) to the parkging attendant. The private parking attendant called them the next day and told them they had no right to hold her car and to release it immediately. They also confirmed that the citation Cedar Towing provided to my daughter was false, and that she owed $0.00. They explained that even if she DID it would only have been $30. I got involed at that point and they held the line on their crooked story; even after being told otherwise by their business client. Obviously, I wasn't very nice after they got rude and snarky with me. My daughter showed up again to pay and get the car out of there. The manager from Cedar Towing that I spoke to over the phone CHASED her down along with several other employees in the parking lot!!! I was on the phone with her the whole time and heard every word. She was repeatedly accusing my daughter of absolutely reaking like alcohol. Here's the best part, the car that my daughter was going to pick up has Ignition Interlock in it, any driver has to be 100% alcohol free to start the car. Guess what, it passed her and the car started. They STILL tried to stop her and were accusing her of reaking of alchohol (she's a bartender). They were taking their frustration with me out on her! She's only 21! We all know that impound lots employ some of the shadiest people on the planet, but the manager is the biggest scum of them all. She's out there hunting cars... See you in court. I see she has fake reviews going in to try and prop her rating up.

Horrible. DEPLORABLE. Rude staff careless and no care concern or compassion for people trying to retrieve their vehicle with the payment in full. They did not want to release my vehicle to me tried to find any and every reason to keep my vehicle. Absolutely AWFUL FAMILY AND HORRIBLE BUSINESS THEY’RE RUNNING. if your car gets towed away by them just cry cause they’re going to make you go thru the motions to get your vehicle all while being outright RUDE

I bought a car for the winter season and parked it outside my apartment complex. When they came to tow it, I went to their office to claim it and was met with the worst attitude imaginable. They made up a thousand excuses to avoid returning my belongings or the vehicle. They wanted to charge me a $1,000 fee to get it back, even though I only paid $900 for it. In short, they take your property, create an unpayable debt, and then seize it to auction it off. Thieves and swindlers are an understatement for these kinds of people.

Not the best customer experience, can’t really call myself a customer because the service was unwanted, parked in a friends apartment complex for maybe less than five minutes and came out to find my car gone. Immediately I called the towing company which had confirmed that my vehicle had been impounded and would need a payment of $305 plus the vehicle documentation. After gathering all the necessary documentation they front office notified me that my documentation was suspicious and need further more approvals after all corrections were made prior to her needing to seek approval from any management. To me it is unprofessional for them to use Ai based checklist as their guidelines for people that get their car towed. And more importantly they have no right to question me for buying a car from a auction and having registration issues. The whole process very unethical and unnecessary.

If you see a Cedar sign, avoid that parking lot at all costs! They will tow you at 3AM and then charge you storage in their lot until you pick up. The ATM inside the office charges $7 fees. Very predatory! The office is really sketchy, dark tint on the counter because they don't want you to see their faces, but you can hardly see the people. Then they act like you are the bad guy walking through the lot to get into your car, and block the exit with their truck until they confirm with the office. The best part is, they will break into your car to lock the steering wheel with the seat belt!

Would give 0 stars if possible, the lady at the desk was a rude crabby person who only added to the stress levels. Tried started a conflict from the beginning, horrible towing company,

They be hunting for cars to tow. Car was in a parking spot where we had a permit to park. The one night in 30 nights of parking there that the permit wasn’t exactly in the review mirror and “wasn’t viable” they tow it, and charge a crazy rate to get it back. Mind you this is a college apartment where they are taking money from already broke, stressed college students. Vehicle wasn’t even reported by anyone.

The towed my 2025 Mercedes RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. Just because my neighbor next door at the White House does not like us. She acted like she was the owner of MY house, and Cedar towing didn’t ask anything to confirm it, they just towed it. Now, I’m preparing to sue this company. I have video evidence of every single minute of the towing where my own car is getting snatched away from my own parking spot . Enjoy the $300 when I’m probably gonna get $30,000 in couple months!

I live in an apartment complex and my car was legally parked in my assigned lot with a valid parking permit clearly on display like other cars around me. Despite this, Cedar Towing towed my vehicle without cause. When I arrived at the lot to retrieve my car, their own employee admitted the permit was visible, yet they still refused to release it without payment. I took photos myself to prove the permit was properly displayed. When I requested reimbursement and a written statement, Cedar Towing falsely claimed they had video footage of me “adjusting” my permit — something that never happened. They then refused to provide a statement. This is complete fraud and an illegal tow. Do not trust this company. They prey on residents, ignore evidence, and refuse accountability.

For businesses: I’ve setup business with Cedar Towing. I unfortunately have nothing good to say about their work. Their drivers ruin axles, suspensions, and other car parts without accountability. They stop monitoring lots after some time. They twist words in business communication. There are easily much more professional towing companies to work with.

I recently had a car I borrowed towed in less than 12 hours in my apartment residence parking lot. I was unable to get a temporary parking permit as I borrowed this car out of office hours. I also couldn't park on the street due to being told in the past that residents can't park there or they will be towed. I called this company to see if they could help me out and I'll admit I sounded frustrated on the phone, but that doesn't excuse the rudeness I was met with. The lady I spoke with was not sympathetic to my issue at all and practically blamed me for not knowing better and for doing something illegal. She also asked, "hasn't this car been towed before?"(In an irritated tone) Which it had not, so I don't know why that question was even relevant. Essentially, she escalated the situation, and I was left feeling more frustrated than when I called. You would think that a company that has to deal with frustrated people all the time that the employees would be trained better on customer service. She very clearly didn't care at all how this affected my day. It felt very cash grab and gross.

Horrible company that steals personal property and makes it impossible to get your own car back, even if they wrongfully towed it (and admitted to it).

What this place does should be illegal. Towed our car away when it was in a perfectly legal spot at a family members residence. Guy at the front desk literally was ordering food on his phone while “trying” to help us get our car back. Watched them run into another car in the lot and damage it. This place should be shut down for their unethical approach of making money.

They hit scratch ding and dent and tow 4wd by 2 wheels No Dollie’s no flatbed Just drag and think it’s ok Look at ur car before paying You have the right or call the city of Minneapolis to complain

While following their driver to the tow lot (as I didn’t actively have their address) they had someone following the truck that nearly ran me off the road or caused an accident so many times. On top of that they charged $312 for the car being there for less than 8 hours.

Parked in my companies private property in the employee parking spot and they towed me. I purposely keep my companies name on my dash to show I'm allowed there but they didn't care

bait-and-switch "Avoid this company at all costs! They lured me in with a $300 drop fee, but as soon as I went to get my wallet, they took off and charged me $709. Complete bait and switch. Unprofessional, rude, and dishonest." This company is a scam. They essentially stole my truck by driving off while I had the keys. Then they had the nerve to charge me $709 for it. Absolute thieves. Stay away!" danger and disregard Extremely unprofessional and dangerous. They drove off with my truck while I still had the keys and then charged me an exorbitant fee. They didn't care about my safety or the legality of their actions. Avoid at all costs!" Thieves! They quoted a $300 drop fee, then when I went to get the money they stole my truck and charged $709. Rude and overpriced. Don’t trust them!"

Update: So I have received a good amount of interest in the class action lawsuit against Cedar. Everyone safely has 2 years to join the class action. Goal is to bankrupt this company and owners and then tow their car and charge them for it. I am initiating a class auction lawsuit against Cedar Towing & Auction. This class action lawsuit will look into Cedar Towing & Auction's business practices with regard to towing vehicles, even if compliant with parking garages, parking lots, and street parking. Cedar Towing purposely tows vehicles to sell those same vehicles 6 months later. Please contact me to join this class action lawsuit.

If I could get give negative stars I would. I had a terrible experience with Cedar Towing. Six weeks ago, I left the country for work. When I returned today, I discovered that my car had been towed from my own property a place where I live. I called 911 thinking it was stolen, only to be told it had been towed by Cedar. When I contacted them, they told me my vehicle was “unlawfully parked” because my tabs were expired. That’s ridiculous. I wasn’t using the car, it’s not even insured, and it was just sitting parked at the property where I live. There was no notice, no warning, nothing. Now they’re demanding over $1,900 in fees to release a vehicle that isn’t even worth that much. All these charges added up while I was overseas with no idea my car had even been moved. Cedar Towing is predatory and clearly profits off of people in vulnerable situations. They showed no understanding or flexibility, even though I could prove I lived at the location and had been out of the country. Avoid this company at all costs. The system they operate under feels broken and exploitative. If you were taken advantage of by these people I highly recommend you file a report with the state against there business licensing!

Mildly predatory towing company that services the Minneapolis area they will till your car quickly and quietly in the middle of the night. Be sure when you get your vehicle that you get an itemized receipt so you can see how much they overcharge to be on the state limit.

I wouldn’t even rate this place 1 star. I was moving into my new apartment today and had a parking permit on the U-haul. I decided to pull it closer to the back door to make the unloading easier not to mention I have a disability and I am also a small women that needed to pull it closer for all the heavy furniture lifting not knowing that I would get towed. I called up there, and management did as well to get my U-haul after trying to charge me $300. A bunch of valuable mirrors and my tv is broken probably the other one too. I would estimate around $400-$500 in damages as that swirled mirror was very expensive. I haven’t got a chance to plug in the other tv in yet but I will be finding that out shortly. I don’t know who towed this but this was very wrong, and I’m very upset within how y’all treated my stuff knowing there could be very valuable things in a U-haul as well as seeing me moving the stuff why would yall even remove it from the parking lot. Watch out for these people they are bogus and shady. Plus they will try to get every penny out of you.

The man working in the office was great, but the towing industry feels exploitative, predatory, and in need of a more regulated warning system and fee structure. It is absolutely ---insane--- to be charged $300 upon arriving at a towing company just minutes after a car has been towed into their secure lot. I literally followed my car--as it was being towed--by jogging 3 blocks and arrived at their business before my car had even been positioned in their lot. The system needs change.

On March 7th I experienced a bad experience at cedar towing. I went to pick up my car where it was picked up at my address and the receptionist gave me a hard time. My address stated my address that was where the vehicle was picked up. At that point she needed me to do other things like go home, get my title and I needed to have all of my insurance stuff ready which my insurance card matched my address and I think that that was the wrong way to treat a customer

This company is completely unprofessional, unethical, and incompetent—essentially scammers. The state must conduct a thorough investigation into their operations. Their license should be revoked immediately. They outrageously overcharged me after leaving my vehicle stranded. This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I will absolutely be filing a complaint with the state. We cannot allow scammers like this to operate in the great state of Minnesota. THEY ALSO MADE ME GET CASH AT THE SITE ATM

Cedar towing towed my car from a parking lot 2 years ago, I had to pay $336 to collect it. No issues there. I took my car into the shop for 100k inspection and my mechanic asked me if I’ve ever been towed and explained that my rear lateral arms have been bent backwards. I explained to cedar towing that this had to have been them since my car has only ever been towed by them and showed them the photos as well. They told me that I’m SOL because it’s been too long since the car was towed. Just a reminder that if your car is ever towed (especially towed without your permission) to have someone take a look at the alignment when you get your car back.

When I arrived home at 9:00 PM last night, I found another car parked in my Reserved Parking Spot, at Bush Terrace Condominiums. Irritating! There are 2 signs that clearly state that un-authorized vehicles WILL BE TOWED. I called Cedar Towing, and they had the un-authorized car, out of my Reserved Parking Spot within minutes. This incident occurred during Minneapolis' FIRST Snow Emergency of 2022, and I was super happy to get my own car, OFF of the street, and into my Reserved Parking Spot, so that the snow plows could clear the street. Cedar Towing did a GREAT job!

Okay, I know it seems a little strange to give 5 stars to a place that no one wants to go. It feels a little strange to post this as well. However... I haven't looked but I'm going to guess they probably don't have many 5 star reviews. I'll be the ardent citizen committed to data integrity and fair statistical feedback that I am and try to tip the scales a bit. GETTING THERE I called on a Sunday morning, someone answered right away, and once I provided the vehicle's make and model, they were immediately able to confirm that it was in their possession and disclose the cost. I used Google Maps to navigate there and the building itself was a little hidden but I easily found it. THE MONEY PART I was pleased to learn the cost would be $201, which is less than I was expecting!. They accept all major credit/debit cards and cash, & not checks (who really does these days anyway?). They also have an ATM available to use right in the lobby. IN SUMMARY As annoying as it was to have to make this trip, the experience was actually pretty seamless. They are open 24/7, fees were lower than I expected, they accepted multiple payment methods, and simply required us to provide a driver's license, proof of ownership (title, registration, insurance card, etc. - we used a digital insurance card). I think they allow you to go into the vehicle to obtain registration during the day though. They were very helpful and quickly sent us on our way. I also really appreciated the attached signs they had hung up.

My car was towed by cedar towing and the driver did a horrible job and ended up knocking a part of my car out of place. When I called to dispute the damage I was first given the wrong name as to who handles those claims. I have been going back and fourth with cedar since September. Brad, the person who handles claims for damaged cars, said he would figure what he can do and never got back to me. I have called many times in a day and left messages to not get a call back. This is a horrible company that says they will do something and doesn’t. I will be taking legal action if I do not get any answers.
