Be careful if you bring scrap often, secretary lower the prices without your knowledge and she tells you thats the market price when its not. You can get 10-20 cents per lb order places.
First off, this place is ripping you off and they’ll take pride in making sure you’re scolded for even asking for a better price. I wish I never came here.
I’ve visited this place several times in the past and was generally treated well. On one occasion, an employee even went out of his way to ensure I was given the correct price, which I appreciated.
Unfortunately, my most recent experience was very different. From the moment I walked in, I was met with an unnecessarily scolding tone. When it came time to check out, I asked for the same rate I had received previously, and the employee the very same person who had once scolded me responded by saying, “I don’t know where you’re getting that number; you’re making that up.”
I’ve also begun to question the accuracy of their scale, as other places have given me noticeably more money for my product per pound, even at a good rate on paper, the amount they give me is still so much lower than other metal companies.
If you’re gonna rip people off, at least have good service. I would not recommend coming here.
Took a nice drive out to Maple Grove on a Saturday. Because EMR is awesome and they’re open on Saturdays. I got there just after 11:30 and they have a sign posted that the scale stops weighing at 11:30. Oh, and you’re gonna be super rude to me too. Well 10 years ago I would have lost it,. I thank God for giving me the ability to just walk away.
Anyways that information would be helpful to have on your website so people don’t drive all the way down here. Overall great experience, I’m grateful that I got to work on my coping skills, and anger management.
Drove about 10 extra miles, because EMR quoted me a price that was better than my local recycler. Got there, and because I already knew their price, I didn't think I needed to verify what price I was getting. Apparently, they took advantage of the fact that I didn't verify the price, and paid me less. They also took a tare weight off for their cart, but it was probably twice what the cart actually weighted.
Website states that take metal of all sizes- no load too big or too small. When you arrive, they tell you that they only buy steel if it's 200 Lbs or more.
* In response to EMR's reply: Understood. Why not change your website to reflect that, as it is misleading to state you pay for 'No Load Too Big Or Too Small'.
Easy recycling. You load a cart or bin with your aluminum recyclables, they way it out and give you a receipt. You take that to a cash-scanning machine and you're payout on the spot. Easy peasy....oh, and bring your ID. You will need that.
For the first time at this establishment I was looked at differently, like a criminal. I was told what I had was funny. Except I didn't see a damn thing funny about accusations. Used brass down spouts in a demo Dumpster now need pictures, written statements and who know maybe a blood sample. Evidently my license and plate number on camera isn't enough. You all got some nerve thinking my side hustle seapping would involve stealing stuff from state workers trucks as you implied. Thinking I'm gonna risk my already good paying full-time job and life over that. Well three years been coming 3 to 5 days a week. Now thanks to your scale workers accusations my business will be with Rodgers. Always pay better but more of a drive. Well I guess it's worth it now.
This will be the only place I go to recycle. I wasn't sure of the friendlyness of this place until I met Jose. He was helpful, thorough and friendly. They gave me the best price around, and it was such a smooth process. They even offer payment of cash through an ATM right on sight. WOW!
The place was very under staffed and disorganized. The help was not very helpful (however this is understandable given the fact they were understaffed) the rate they paid was below their competitors substantially and the location was somewhat difficult to identify.
Every person that I dealt with today was fricken awesome! Today was the first time ive had to go to RSI, but I was treated like weve all known one another for years. They were very personable, polite, helpful, and most of all they were humorous the whole time.
Very happy with your service! Amanda was honest and helpful in providing price and methods of prep. The scale man knew his stuff and didn't try to short change me on even the smallest quantities. The fellow in the office gave good directions to a first time visitor and followed through up to the point of running the ATM. Thanks to all of you folks!!!! Will be back.
Well kept yard and great staff. With a trailer load thy had me pull on the scale, unload over by the blue machine, and scale back out.
You also can stop in and drop batteries and other inside the building.
Worst customer service I have ever had. Front desk lady was so rude slamming the window door in my face when I was trying to talk to her. She didn't want to help me at all every time I had a question it was rude comments never smiled or said thank you. Heres an idea if you hate people don't work in customer service. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. It was my first time there so had no idea how it worked staff didn't seem to know either or didn't care. Will never come back to this hell hole get a new front desk person and train your people on telling people what to do super confusing and disappointing will never recommend anyone to go here.
Dropped off 500+ lbs of stuff today and the guys were super nice and helpful. I had no idea what I was doing but they were patient with me and helped me out! Even gave me pointers for next time! Honestly can't wait to get another load and drop off!
Scraping a car that we barely got started, drove 20+min only to find that they close at 4 not 415 like their Google account states. We missed it by literally 1min and they turned us away. I even went in and talked to someone, explained the situation and all they said was sorry. Clearly their customers or their reputation isn't very important to them.
Horrible service, rude employees, managers are very rude as well, very low scrap price, gave me $10 for converters on a car that are $80 a piece. If you want to get ripped off this is the place to come. The best part is they know there ripping you off an don’t even care. Heads up before you get ripped off take your converters off an go to Metro metals in St. Paul they pay you 3 times as much an our actually honest
In all the times I have gone to scrap yards, this has to be the best experience I have had. I felt I got a good price for my load, they made it easy to move through the process of unloading the truck, explained a couple of things that I should of done different, even gave me a hand unloading. And most of all, they were friendly, especially AJ!
Hmm, it's a shame you guys had a bad experience. My dog and I dropped off some copper tubing. I had no idea what I was doing. The staff was courteous, friendly, and I was in and out in a few minutes. Definitely a wonderful.experience.
Deals with general public recycling of scrap metal. I was able to drop off my storm door. They do not pay for items that require extra labor (i.e., storm door had glass and wood), but they are still a convenient drop off location.
Pretty friendly, decent rates, the only problem I have is they don't clean their yard often...I used the drive through and got two tour punctures in one tire... I guess that's the risk you take... All in all, not bad.
I just got back from dropping off some aluminum materials from a gazebo and an old wheel borrow. It was such a mixed up confusing place. I first was directed to pull into the drive through, then they told me to back out and go around to the back. When I got back there, there was no one to tell me where to park and they would unload!! I started driving more around the back and the workers just looked at me and gave me no direction!!! I got out of my car and said, 'where am I to park ?' They said, what do you have? They just saw what I had when I was in the drive through! No direction, no help. It was the most unorganized experience I have had. I never got paid , nor did they understand what I was talking about. I said 'forget it' and left. I called back just as I left and told the person on the phone what a lousy experience I had and he just said I am sorry. I would not tell people to go there unless you want to experiance this. I will not be returning nor suggesting to people to go there!!!

I have been here dozens of times for various reasons and find their office staff to be exceptional and their yard staff to be helpful and precise, they do not mess around, their yards is kept meticulous, their crane operator knows his stuff and will help as able. They are professional and courteous. I would go nowhere else.
I loved the drive through on a rainy day. The carts provided were convenient. The worker was prompt and informative. I liked the ticket machine. First time customer, will go back.
Went on a friday, aprx. 2 & returned at 3 with cans. Excellent service, fast, and easy. I would recommend them because they are about 10 minutes away from me and it took no longer than 10 minutes to get in and out. I also like the "atm" idea, a lot better than a sassy 'teller'. *Also, I wouldn't make small talk if I had to spend 9 hours in a minnesota summer with a ton of bees, and disgusting smelly garbage people want to trade for dead u.s presidents on fine fabric. Be realistic on your expectations of a scrap YARD
Contrary, to all the negative reviews I have had a great experience and have used this place many times a Year. Return on Product brought in, is average as they pay the current rate of the day. Employee's are sometimes scarce but have not waited more the 4 minutes before being acknowledged.
RSI lists their hours of operation during the week as being open until 4:45pm. I got there at 4:30pm on a Friday and they were closed up tight for the day, not an employee in sight.
I have recycled scrap aluminum here a couple times before and have been treated as though I do not exist by the people weighing my scrap. If I as a customer greet you with a "Hello" or a "How's it going today" , I expect a response in kind like, "Hello" or "Good, thanks", or something other than looking through me and grunting something unintelligible or not grunting at all.
It's basic human manners. I'm right in front of you, please acknowledge my existence.
I don't scrap for a living, I'm just a person who likes to recycle. RSI is not a place to go if you aren't a hard-core, crusty scrapper.
I'll gladly drive to K&K Recycling in Northeast Minneapolis where they run a professional operation, have a clean yard, a secure facility, and people who have knowledge of basic communication skills. (They are actually nice!)
