This place is hell. Beware . The lady who is typically charging and is on the reception area is so mean to people. When we came to noticed our car was missing from the parking lot. I immediately contacted Smith and that lady who answered the phone said that the car was in the Fridley location, when we arrived the car wan’t even there and she asked me to go look for it and I said that’s not my job. She had us waiting for an hour and they could not find our car. I told her why she said on the phone that the car was intact in that location , she didn’t care about our time. She insulted me and we had an ugly argument. They should close that shop. Unfortunately I will file a complain with the association where we live.
Find a different towing company to work with. This one partners with apartment complexes and gouges residents for minor parking violations. Absolutely devoid of morals.

Don't let them take your car. Avoid at all cost. Crooked business practices. Extreme fees. Charged for 2 days storage and the car hadn't even been there for 12hr. Towed there at 10pm the night before so apparently those 2hr count for a day of storage.
10/10 this company towed our bigger sized truck broken down in the middle of the road. The dispatcher was polite and professional, and Meech the driver from miller towing is so awesome. He really went the extra mile to deliver the truck exactly where I asked. Based on my experience today I will be calling them first if I ever need a tow again.
They towed my truck from the visitors lot clearly posted VISITORS LOT was in the process of helping a friend move $325 dollars to get it back fraud or should I say theft clearly that is what it is auto industry is slow so these clowns are pan handling by combining though apartment lots to drum up funds
I haven't worked with many towing companies. But "450 to tow your car and scrap it to them or 750 to tow it, hold it a few days then to release it to a another scrapping company". That seems hella unethical and very gross. I hope to never stumble upon them again.
Horrible ! I paid around 300 to tow my car to my apartment complex. They further damaged my vehicle and the whole entire exhaust is now dragging on the floor??! I called several times, the lady on the phone is so rude and has zero customer service manners or professionalism. The “safety coordinator” never did his job or even took a look at my car, or even called back. It was already expensive towing it now more expensive you messed it up. If I can advice anyone :, never tow with this company get yourself an AARP membership and stay away from schmit towing

I have reported this business to to the better business Bureau —-they Towed my daughter vehicle from her Apartment building with her title in purse which was in her trunk they went in and took it out of vehicle mind you her purse was the only thing in her trunk we searched her purse thoroughly they waited until it was about a grand to get out then we went back to pick it up and walaaa there’s her Title please please be aware of This scammers of business it’s very illegal what they are doing!!! crooks!!
I totally agree with the other reviewers. My truck got impounded from my apartment complex on Saturday 18th at 6:45am. From Saturday at 6:45am to Sunday 6:45am is one 24 hr day. From Sunday to Monday is another 24hr day. I pick up my truck today at 9:00 when they opened. The dispatcher had already told me that it would be $379.00, for picking it up today. But the lady at the office charged me another day, so they did 3 days at $425.00. Which was ridiculous plus she had a rude attitude as well. I didn’t say anything just to see if she would correct it on her own but she still charged me 3 days. This company is BS , they just jack you for your money and over charge you and act like it’s all good. Scandalous company and people . It just shows how some people can be. I
Schmidt Towing Service is far and above the most professional and customer-focused service business you could ever experience! They were able to hear my concerns and questions regarding an extremely stressful time in my family's life. If you find yourself having to use a towing g service, Schmidt is the one to call!!! I will be forever grateful to Jacob and the staff for making a positive difference in a really bad day!
I understand getting impounded from an apartment is my own fault but 8 mile distance overnight impound (not even 24 hours). Charging $330... something doesn't add up. I know people who've worked in the industry and that fee is ridiculous.
Very low and sneaky people that work here that only cares about maximum tows. Parked in friends apartment complex to bring his toddler inside and used the bathroom was only inside for about 7-8 minutes I come outside and my car is gone. They have people waiting for you to go inside your home then they hurry and get your car before you even get a chance to come back out all just for the money no morals whatsoever.
Towing at an apartment complex and it’s not even midnight charging $300 plus when these are already cheap apartments so they know I can’t afford it and now your car is gone forever all because of greed for money. Cruel game being played.
Ordered pickup of a forklift for delivery to a jobsite. Their driver did the exact opposite. I then scheduled the return trip with a 3:00pm sharp pickup time. I called at 3:15 was told the driver was 45 minutes out. I then received a call from the driver 30 minutes later informing me that he was an hour out which lead to over 2 hours of my staff waiting around at 2 sites. I called before each trip to confirm the details and was assured by dispatch that it was all set up. I've used them several times in the past but will not be using them in the future.
Don’t even want to give this place one star. My car got stolen and impounded. Was told by the police to go and retrieve it but that day when i did the woman working told me i didn’t have to because i had insurance and that insurance is supposed to retrieve it. She made me sign a form for insurance to be able to recover it, and took my keys for the car. Ended up having to pay $380 3 days later to get it towed out of impound because insurance told me they don’t do that. The woman said she remembered me but denied ever doing any of that. When i asked for her name she refused to give it to me, lied saying it was on the invoice she just gave me, and then another employee said i could take his name and just gave me “288”. screw this place and their predatory services and employees. y’all owe me $380.
Schmitt Towing doesn't know a valid parking pass!! I was towed from my apartment complex. The apartment manager had to call them and tell them the pass that I have always had on my vehicle is the correct color! Hours later, still waiting for return.
Employees were nice and followed policy and procedures as directed by ownership. Ownership is the reason for my 1 star review. You are knowingly engaging in predatory tow practices at Central Plaza in Columbia Heights and working with the property manager to provide kickbacks to them. $377 to release my car that was towed at 3:15am on a Saturday night and were only open 2 hours Sunday morning so I had to wait until Monday day to get my vehicle and charged extra. You make Tasty Pizza have to offer parking passes to patrons if they have drank too much. If someone has drank too much to drive how, how would they be expected to remember to do this or notice the sign when choosing Uber or being driven home by a DD. Your predatory actions with the property manager are going to get someone killed one day that decides to take the wheel when they should not. The Business does not like that you make them do this and you also lied on the dispatch report noting “it was called in” but I was told Schmidt is patrolling the lot by a Schmidt employee. I understand all other reasons you too and know you deal with disruptive unruly and angry people all the time and your employees are saints for it. However this is a practice that should be stopped immediately. I’m sure you have plenty of other business to be able to dial it back on someone that made the right decision. As an organization do the right thing here in the future.
Complete scam, towed the vehicle less than 12 hours ago, tries to get $300, yet their sign say "1-15 days is $270.31" complete trash. Rude, disrespectful, they shouldn't even be running a business. If I could do negative stars I definitely would
If I could give negative stars I would. They are rude. They don't care about anything but money. They don't try to help you what's so ever no matter your situation. They are crooks. Towing company's should be banned. This is by far the worst company I ever had to deal with. The manager even hung up on me because I was frantic because they took my only car and I'm a single mom of 4. Everyone in there so called main office are heartless.
I wouldn't even give this place a one star, but I have to put something to write a review. If I can, I would give this company negative 5 stars. My car was impounded and when I went to retrieve my car Sunday at 11 am, before even touching my car, there was damages on it. Talk to the guy at the lot and said they can't give out their corporate number and can't give me a name of who I need to talk to. He took pictures of the damages I pointed out and he said someone from corporate will call me. But reading the reviews on how bad this company is, I didn't want to wait for someone to call me. I called them and they're just giving me the run around and not telling me who I can call and talk to about the damages on my vehicle. The lady I talked to claims that the damages I'm talking about was already there. I told here that the damages were not there until their tow truck driver touched my vehicle. She then claims that their truck drivers take pictures before towing, so when I request to have those pictures emailed to me, she then says she can't send them to me. I told her, if they have pictures, I want to see the pictures they took of my vehicle before it was even touched because I can guarantee her that the damages were not there. Their employees are RUDE and their hours are HORRIBLE!!! When they want to tow your car and when they damage it, they are all of a sudden so secretive about not being able to give out information on names and numbers on who to talk to. They don't want to OWN up to the damages done on my vehicle or maybe any other vehicles. I hope NO ONE every uses this company for towing. Will update if I get a call or not.
My Mercedes SL 600 broke down so I called the St. Paul Mercedes Benz dealership for a tow into the store. They sent Schmit Towing. As the driver was loading my vehicle he scratched the front bumper. Went I made him aware of this he became combative and started to yell and insult me. At which point I asked him to unload my vehicle and told him I would call the Mercedes dealer and have them send someone else. He then told me if I didn't pay him on the spot he would bring my vehicle to there impound lot. After 15 minutes on the phone with his manager. His manager agreed to cover the damages and tow the vehicle to Mercedes. I have yet to hear from there insurance company and they charged my card the full amount for the tow. This was a complete nightmare! I will be writing a letter to the attorney generals office as from other review it sounds like a pattern.
Dispatch forgot to call in my truck. I called back over an hour later and they apologized and called it in and said I could ride to the repair shop with them. When they finally got to me 2 hours after calling, there was no room for me in the truck and I had to Uber behind them. Dispatch was awful, but the tow guys were very friendly and quick.
I had a terrible experience with Schmit Towing. I was involved in an accident, and before I knew what was happening, my car was being hooked up. When I said I wanted to get my own towing, I was told that I couldn't, even though my vehicle was still drivable to move out of the way. I had to pop my trunk while it was moving up on the bed to get my valuables out. They handed me a card and drove off. The driver was a complete dink, speaking to me shrewdly and not answering my questions. The only good I can say about them is that it doesn't seem like my vehicle was further damaged as a result of the towing, and communicating with them over the phone was reasonable. Then retrieving my vehicle the next day, they charged an extra days worth of holding fees, on top of the already outrageous fee. $260 in total. Their lot is just as lousy as their communication. I will make sure that everyone I know will never use Schmit Towing.
They did a beautiful good. Avoided any damage to truck and trailer. The guy who came our was very polite and knew exactly what had to be done. He was patient and stayed until I got into the dock with no problems.
Horrible customer service, fraudulent fees, violation of freedom of speech will charge an additional $25 for attitude or profanity. I was car towed for 320, the now are charging me for 420.00 due to their own personal feelings! is to report this company to the Better Business Bureau. They shouldn’t not be allowed to conduct themselves the way that they do.
almost hit with a tow truck for walking back through the gate to lock me keep back since the refreshed to release it due to their own personal reason! Even tried to charge me an extra 50 for them forcing me to leave my Jeep over night after they ran my card already. The also forced me to pay cash the next day and still charged me $20 for using my card !
Absolutely wonderful. Had to be towed on a holiday. Arrived on time and was able to assist our rescue vehicle that also stopped working. The person was friendly, professional and quick.
Great, friendly staff. They were honest and up front about the wait time which we appreciated. They did accidentally double charge us for the tow. When I called the office lady was super nice, apologized and issued a refund immediately! We will definitely be using this company again if we are stuck on the side of the road again!
The person on the phone was very nice and well-spoken (unlike a few other companies I talked to that were either grumpy or clueless). Clear expectations were set, and I got a call with a heads up before the indicated time that the truck would be longer to arrive. The truck unfortunately didn't show up for 4 hours after a 2 hour estimate was given. My driver, Sammy, was very friendly and professional, and the truck was modern and in good working order. The price was reasonable. I wanted to give 5 stars, but the underestimated time is a problem (especially after seeing that almost every other review here mentions the same thing). The time it takes to tow a vehicle isn't a mystery- the dispatcher should have all the details of the call queue, and capable drivers will do a job in a predictable amount of time.
They make damage in my car but they are lying. They told me they will take care about it but after 2 days later they call me and said it’s not their fault. So please take care about it strongly if something happened with you.
