I’m new to Michigan, and my 2004 Ford Explorer had a serious issue—the heater stopped working and the water pump also failed. Luckily, I found this excellent auto repair shop. They fixed my vehicle quickly, at a very fair price, and did an outstanding job. The staff is honest, professional, and very friendly. It’s hard to find places like this nowadays. I definitely recommend them without hesitation.

Had a great experience here today at the last hour of the business day. I was in a real bind with a pair of struts that I needed help with after another shop couldn't complete. Ahmad and Loauy jumped right in and installed my spring coils onto a new pair of struts. They are rockstars. Highly recommended.

These are hands down the best mechanic in town. They’ve always been the honest mechanics I have ever met and also, have fixed all the problems with my cars (some that no one else could diagnose properly). Now that I live on a different state, I often wish I could drive back to Ann Arbor just to service my cars there!

The best service in Ann Arbor! I’ve lived in Ann Arbor my whole life and been to alot of the auto repair shops. Many of them rip you off or do unnecessary work. We’ve had work done on both of our used cars at Packard auto. From transmission to brakes, they do a great and fast job! The best part is their customer service! They care about building a relationship and having lasting clients rather than just taking $. I’m so appreciative to have found a place like this.
This is the first auto repair place I went to with my first ever car, I was so nervous and scared. But Ahmed and everyone else was so kind and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. They charged me such a reasonable price and got it done so fast! I've gone to them twice more and had the same great experience. Definitely my go to auto repair place, and I recommend it to all my friends!

I called almost every auto repair shop in the Ann Arbor area and asked how much it would be for a AC evaluation. This was the cheapest place by far and I was able to go in right away! Staff was incredibly friendly and honest with their service. As a woman going alone to fix their car with some knowledge, I was weary of getting scammed. While the front was busy, the mechanic had no problem taking the initiative of showing me exactly where my leak was. The cost of the part to be replace, labor, refrigerant refill, and evaluation was the fairest price by far. It was not in my budget, however my AC had been broken for over 2 years and there was a heat wave. If I had gone anywhere else, they would have charged over $600. Again, as a woman, I greatly appreciate the time and effort they took to take care of my vehicle and make me comfortable, in that, I was not going to be taken advantage of because of my being a woman. This is absolutely invaluable!
I called around 6:15pm and they close at 6pm and Ahmad answered the phone very pleasant and was very helpful with my questions about my vehichle and keep in mind Ahmad is being patient with me after hours from our conversation this lead me to bring my vehicle to the shop the next morning. I got to the shop around 8:20 the gentleman begin to arrive around 8:35 keep in mind they open at 9am. I didn't bother them because I figured they wanted some time to get in and open up. We'll the story just gets better. A gentleman came out to my vehicle at 8:46, keep in mind they don't open until 9am and I explained to him the conversation that I had with Ahmad last night about what was wrong with my vehicle, he asked me to come in it was a very smooth intake process: they were very friendly, kind, understanding and helpful. They got my vehicle diagnosed within about an hour, explained to me what was wrong and the complete cost for the work they needed to do( it was 500 dollars cheaper than the dealership.). Ahmad explained to me what time the part would be delivered and that they would be finish around 6pm or thereafter. Ahmad called me at 5:10pm to inform me my vehicle was done and ready for pick-up( 45 minutes early!). This place is fantastic in a time when people need to keep their cars longer. I guess you can tell by the story they have a new customer and hopefully many more from this review.
I have come to this mechanic 5 times now with 3 different cars (Jeep liberty, Honda CRV, and Toyota rav4) and always 10/10 service and the best prices. I discovered them by accident and it was the best accident to happen. I send everyone I know to them! Don’t bother going anywhere else. The best service and the best prices are here. Ethical business, cares about retaining customers.
These guys are the absolute most loyal, ethical, flexible and reliable mechanics I’ve ever worked with. I have been fiercely loyal for over 15 years and these are the only guys who I will let touch my personal and business vehicles for anything outside of a dealer-only issue. I have sent a hundred employees, friends, family - people in town visiting and anyone who needs old-school honest service. These guys have never disappointed one single time!!

I was referred to this place through DHS, as I was in the foster care system and they cover up to $900 in repairs. I went in to get my AC repaired and after taking a look at my car they wrote be an estimate that included : $889 for the air compressor $180 to remove and replace the compressor $120 for AC recharge service With the grand total coming up to $1266.35 and it wasn’t even guaranteed that it would fix the problem.
I thought that was ridiculous so I went to another shop and he fixed my AC in less than 15 minutes by filling it up with a gallon of Freon and he charged me $75. He also said he didn’t see anything wrong with the compressor and he also pulled up his computer and showed me how much it would cost to order the compressor and it was only $131 so the total cost to fix it would be between $5-800 max depending on the severity of the issue.
Anyways I’m so glad I did my research because this place is obviously overcharging. I would be careful especially if you are a young adult who is working with DHS to get your car fixed because they will take advantage of that. The other place I went to was called alignment plus, he won’t scam you and he will give you fair honest prices.
I did take my car to get looked at and that is the quote you guys gave me so you are obviously overcharging. Don’t lie.
My dry shaft broke on New Years day! Ahmad found a replacement part and had me on the road in less than 2 hours and had reasonable prices. Such a blessing! 10/10!
Excellent customer (and technical!) service. Earlier this month, my Volkswagen’s transmission was completely damaged and my car was not drivable. After some back and forth with other shops and my warranty provider, Packard Auto was able to diagnose, service, and return my car all before the New Year! I am so thankful for you guys! Will 100% be recommending to anyone I know as well as returning as a customer when I need to. :-)
This is one of the most trustworthy repair shops I have ever dealt with. They are kind and thoughtful when dealing with their customers. I highly recommend them for all your car needs!
I am beyond disappointed and frustrated with this business. The radiator blew on my 2000 Audi S4 and coolant leaked everywhere. Had it towed to this shop for them to say the heater core needed to be replaced, come to find that is completely unrelated to the problem. They put my car back together loosely, they did not give me my old parts back like I asked, and they never called to discuss other issues they might’ve found while my car was apart, like the coolant leaks from the radiator and water pump. When I picked up my car from them the problem was not fixed. My car was still leaking coolant and it got worse as I drove it. I take my car to arbor motion where they find it leaking coolant from the radiator and water pump, and possibly more areas. They found pressure built up that should’ve been released at the other shop, which caused more things to crack and leak. They questioned why this shop would go to replace the heater core when that’s not really a coolant leaking problem. Long story short these people scammed me and now my car needs over $4000 worth of work to fix the real issue that they made worse. These people did not fix the issue, they put my car back together sloppy, and then ran with my $1000. I called them back to tell them about my car and how I felt they did with it, they said there was nothing they could do. I’m more mad at myself for going to a shop like this looking for a “quick and cheap fix”. I’ll be honest it was quick and somewhat cheap, and it shows in their work! Thank you for doing your job poorly and leaving me with a car that I can’t drive! And to the people considering this place: take your car elsewhere because it’s not worth it here, there are plenty of other shops in ypsi/ann arbor that you can trust!
I had an engine light come up recently; cylinder misfire and rough idle issue. Took it to a nationwide commercial shop and was diagnosed with a bad head gasket.
Feeling unsure of that diagnosis, I took it to Packard Auto Repair and they got the correct diagnosis which was bad fuel injectors.
My car runs slick as a whistle now and Packard saved me almost 2K with the correct diagnosis and repairs.
I cannot say enough good things about this place and I'll let their reputation speak for itself. Great shop, very knowledgeable, and very fast service. 5 stars, easy!
If you are having car issues and you want a second opinion (or even a first opinion as I've learned) take it to this place and they will absolutely take care of you.

They understood that finances were a concern for me and worked within my budget to figure out a solution to get me back on the road ASAP without having a prior appointment. I wanted to update my review of Packard Auto Repair because I have now gone to them for 9 years. They have provided us with prompt and fast service with everything from oil changes to important repairs. Their prices are fair and their work is super reliable. I trust their advice and their work. I wouldn't go to anyone else!
The guys at Packard Auto Repair were incredibly nice. We had a very simple problem which was that we had to replace our license plate but the bolts had rusted so thoroughly that we couldn't remove them. They took care of it without issue and didn't even charge us.
Packard Auto repair has always been kind, explained issues without talking down to me (as a woman, I've found many other places do this), always have fair prices, and do a great job with repairs. I've never found them to be recommending repairs I don't need, and they always provide guidance if a repair is immediately necessary or could wait. I highly recommend them.
I have been taking my vehicles to Packard Auto for the past 8 years. They are always friendly and helpful. They do excellent work at a fair price. On a number of occasions they have said this is what you need to get done to make the car safe to drive and said they are other things you can do but aren't necessary. I really appreciate that type of service because it lets me choose what I want to get done and how much I need to spend. I can't recommend Packard Auto enough.
I couldnt give more stars. First thing is they got my car in super fast. They also inspected it for free, to find the problem (most places will charge you 25.00). Second, they were very kind and they fixed my truck really quick (took a few hours). Also, their prices seem reasonable, with a 1 year warranty. As much as I like these guys, I hope not to see you for a while. Thank you all for being so nice and speedy, I will continue to recommend you gentleman.
This place was great! I brought my car in to get fixed and the service great. They were very friendly and very curtious. I was always being updated on the progress of my car and I was definitely treated with respect and honesty. The service was fast and was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be coming back for any future repairs. I will also be recommending them to my family and friends. It's difficult to find a good mechanic but I sure found mine. Keep up the great work guys.
