went in to get a pre purchase inspection on a used car, really really nice dude, took about an hour and didnt cost an arm and a leg and was strait up when he told us what they found, if i didnt live an hour away these guys would be my full time mechanic

The whole experience reminded me of Mallecks gas & service station that was a very loved business in Ann Arbor for decades. To bad Grants/Smiths Servise business does not have gas. There's a lot a auto repair shop can do or say when your car comes in missing and blowing smoke. Like, you need a new engine, blown gaskets, so on. Well my subi did subi things, started missing and blowing smoke. Called the tow truck, asked to send to dealer because I figured, it's a subaru I'll just buy my 7th subaru sooner than later.
Tow company recommend grants because "it's cheaper than dealer". Said sure why not. I can look online for a new car instead of just picking one in Ann arbor.
Get a call later from grants, expecting the worst. But no, spark plug walked out, and burnt plug. They can fix no problem. I asked about a death wobble as well, they looked into it. Again could tell me it's a rack and pinion, bad tie rods, wheel bearings so on. Nope, they cleaned and ballenced my wheels, probably unbent one too by the feel of it.
Foresters back on the road, rides better than ever, and runs as good as when I bought it.
These guys saved my forester from the scrap yard, saved my wallet, and were just honest people.
I can't recommend grants enough. Thank you for getting me back in my car, and just being awesome people.
This is now my second experience using Grant's and I couldn't be happier with their service. I needed a new radiator on my way to work at 7 am, they gave me a very good price and my car was good to go the same day. I came in for a smaller repair this time, and they found I needed a much bigger job instead. I didn't feel like I was being scammed, but that they were genuinely concerned with my safety. It only took a day and was very reasonably priced. Tom is wonderful, he explains everything to you in a way you can understand if you aren't great with cars. I can't recommend Grant's enough!
If you’re gonna break down you should break down around these guys. Was visiting my girlfriend nearby and was just about to head back to Illinois when my car died. They towed me, replaced the alternator and a few other parts. And had me back on the road in one day. They were super nice and transparent about pricing and time. Absolutely recommend them, shoutout Tom, Mike, and Mo.
My husband and I were on our way home from our honeymoon Sunday afternoon when our car broke down. We are not familiar with the area, but Grant’s was helpful. We called for a tow truck and it arrived in an hour, with promises to work on our car in the morning. The man towing us suggested a hotel and even dropped us off there. The next morning, Tom from Grant’s called us and informed us of the damages, as well as maintenance he suggested. Knowing we were traveling, he was kind in saying that just the immediate repair was necessary and gave us a price that was reasonable, especially on such short notice. Because we did work with them, our towing was discounted. Our work was completed the same day and someone again picked us up at our hotel.
We are very pleased with the work that Grant’s did, as well as their price and timing. Tom, who we spoke to, was helpful, kind, and fun. Would definitely recommend this place.
Whole crew went above and beyond to get the best deals, special mention to Tom who dealt with a lot of red tape with insurance to get me the best help, would definitely reccomend!
Great service. Had a flat tire on the highway and stopped by to get it fixed. They did it in 15 minutes with no appoinment. Service was quick and very friendly. It was a little expensive but worth it.
Starter went out in my car, had it towed to grants auto. They checked it out completely said it was just the starter, just a few hours and it was completed. No appointment just showed up. Car starts right up, price was fair and it's fixed. Would recommend.
I have gone to Grant's Auto for years both personally and professionally. They always offer great service, quick oil changes, MDOT testing, and fair prices.
Our mini-van broke down on I-94 near exit 172 and we called Grant's Towing and Auto Repair. The tow truck came within 10 minutes of calling and the owner of the tow company even transported 4 of our family members in his personal vehicle to the repair facility. Once at Grant's the repair (a new alternator) was quickly diagnosed, an written estimate was provided and the repair was done and we were back on the road in two hours. It was unbelievable that we were back on the road so soon and we were traveling to visit family for a funeral so the timeliness of the repair was very important. Grant's offered cold water to each of my family members (it was a hot day). We could not have been more pleased with the service we received at Grant's Towing and Auto Repair.
Had a hell of a day after my transmission died right off the freeway, I was recommended Grant’s by the tow truck driver. Service was quick and respectful, the issues with my transmission were clearly explained and they were extremely accommodating (short-term storage until I could get it salvaged, brought me water and Pepsi on an 88 degree day).
Honestly best tow experience yet! Very little wait time. They exceeded my expectations. Especially Mo Hussein. He parked this big ol truck in my drive way better than what it would have been drove in with VERY limited space. Thank you Mo and team!! I appreciate you guys more than you know.

The driver showed up faster then I was told. Took care of my needs quickly. Emailed the receipt to my insurance company for reimbursement. Best towing service I've had over the years.
They have the sweetest dispatcher!! She was very upbeat, friendly, and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. A pleasure to talk with during hard times while on vacation!
RUN! RUN FAST AND FAR AWAY! These guys had my truck for over six months and it is still not fixed. They put used parts on your vehicle and they lie to you. They towed my vehicle after an accident and said they could get it right in, and that all the other body shops had at least a one month wait. Well this turned into six months of pain and torture and lies and scams. Vehicle is still not fixed. I took my vehicle to my local mechanic for a tuneup after the vehicle came out of the body shop and I had him double check the quality of work that was done at Grants. There were around a dozen issues that my mechanic brought to my attention, including bad paint, several used parts, incorrectly, installed parts, paint on the windshield, dent in bumper, airbag lights, seatbelt lights. The truck also died on me on the way to get a second opinion from my mechanic. To top it off, they put all of the used truck parts in the bed of my truck and when I went to go put my luggage in the truck to head to the airport, I couldn’t even put my suitcase in there because there was so many of the truck parts back there. I took my truck back to have them fix all of the issues my mechanic highlighted. They took two more weeks, and when I went to pick it up, the dent in the used bumper they installed was still there, then they tried accusing me of denting it during the couple days I had it at my mechanic for second opinion. These are just bad dudes doing bad business. I hate to write stuff like this but I hate to see another customer get scammed.
these guys saved me! they towed my car to their shop around 11:30pm after i blew a tire on I-94 and myself, kind strangers, AND triple a was unable to replace the tire. they offer a discount if you tow to their shop. they replaced the tire promptly, and i was able to collect my car the next day during my lunch break.
I've been coming here for over 2 years, since I moved to the area. I've been a very satisfied customer until recently. They've taken care of many problems and done well and always been prompt and personable. As other reviewers have mentioned, they were honest and willing to explain things to me and as a woman, I never felt they were overcharging me or trying to scam me. The mechanics would talk to me and show me things on my vehicle. It seems like they've had a change in their staff, both office and mechanics. This past week I had my car towed to Grant's because I had a significant oil leak. They told me it was a transmission oil cooling line leak and I paid $378 to have it repaired. I drove it home 7 miles and the next morning, there was another puddle of oil under my engine. I drove it to a closer mechanic to have things looked at and am now facing a larger bill to replace all the cooling lines, including the one Grant's supposedly replaced. The shop told me it was not completely replaced and that it was still leaking oil. When I talked to Grant's about this, they claimed that the line had been totally replaced and that it was the only one leaking when I dropped it off. Mind you there was still a significant leak after I drove it less than 10 miles and it sat for one night. It just seems like their work on this issue was very sloppy and not thorough, unlike the quality work I've had done here in the past.
It's too bad; I really enjoyed this shop and was always happy bringing my vehicle here, but I no longer feel comfortable doing so.
I have been going to Grants for years and highly recommend them. I recently bought a used car for my daughter and asked if they would inspect it first. Twan at Grants said he’d hold a bay for me so I could get it in right away. They did the inspection and quoted me for the needed repairs in under an hour! I was so grateful to have someone I trusted give their blessing on the vehicle purchase for my daughter and will continue taking all of my vehicles to Grants.
These guys are just incredible! They were not only willing to replace what my car desperately needed, they did it all at such a fair price. They were kind, knowledgeable, and even checked my car over to ensure it wouldn't break down on my daughter and I. I'm so incredibly grateful to this place for what they do, they are absolute lifesavers!!! 15/10 recommended!
The worst mechanic experience ever! Had my vehicle for months only to overheat and catch fire before I even made it home after picking it. Went to pick it up the second time, they had sent it to the scrap yard and had its engine completely torn out. Wouldn’t even give me a full refund! Never go here!
Absolutely awesome service! Are wheel snapped off on our truck downtown Ann Arbor we Grant's dispatch for a flatbed. Dispatcher was awesome in the flatbed driver Jason that came and got our truck was very professional and very fast. I've never seen someone maneuver a flatbed so swiftly! they have a great hook up and mileage rate compared to anyone else towing! Thanks again Grant's towing!
They got a tow truck out to me super fast and inspected my car quickly and thoroughly. I thought I'd need a lot of costly work done, but they identified it was only a minor issue. Other places may have tried to take advantage of my pocketbook, but Grant's was honest and I really appreciated that! Also, their pricing was terrific! I've been charged almost double by other tow and repair places for the same amount of service.
