Its a great park. Good trails, nice lake and beach area. The disc golf course is over grown and too many trees. The tee pads dont seem to be lined up the best for many holes. Used to be fun but many holes you just shake your head at and hope for the best

Loved this park. There's horse back riding trails and walking trails. A beautiful lake and great camp sites. Including hike in sites.

We did a day hike and really enjoyed the experience. Trails are wide and well maintained, but stay alert as the equestrian community uses the trails so there's a lot of ? on the trail and with a number of blind corners, it's easy to startle a horse and rider. The island feels like an entirely different ecosystem, don't miss it if you're hiking. Note: there is virtually no cell service so if you are hiking and use a map or trail app, download it before you get there. It is a black hole on the coverage maps.

Sleepy Hollow State Park is a beautiful natural space with great potential to become a top-tier outdoor destination. The trails and lake offer a peaceful setting, but the facilities could use meaningful upgrades. Wishlist for improvement: • Better trail maintenance for year-round use • Upgraded restrooms and showers • Water refill stations near trailheads and common areas • Bike and kayak rentals to enhance accessibility • More shaded picnic areas and seating • Play areas and educational signs for families • Improved lighting and safety measures • Updated trail maps and digital navigation tools With these enhancements, Sleepy Hollow could truly shine as one of Michigan’s premier state parks.

I can't speak highly enough of this place. If I could stay all season long I would. Every rustic sote we've been at is so amazing. Places for hammocks, large fire pits, and grounds always kept nice. There are so many trails to explore, akd even an island you can ride your horses onto if you wish. An absolute treasure of a place, 10/10 all day.

The Legend disc golf course is impeccable. Nice variety of holes and technical lanes mixed in with some BOMBERS! Very nice putting green and whole course maintenance I give 5 stars. Would recommend to any player. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Huge park with tons to offer! Camping areas are plentiful and surrounded by trees and shade. Parks and bathrooms are always a short walk away no matter where you are. The beach is also beautiful, well maintained, and large, offering kayak, life jackets, and water safe wheelchairs rentals. Great place to stay overnight or just the day.

Amazing gem! Stayed in the modern cabin for 3 nights on our Snowbird trip to Texas. Very relaxing and quiet. Seen multiple wildlife on our daily hikes. The deer were the highlight. Sunset and sunrise were picture perfect! Would highly recommend!

There are no attendants at the front so make sure you have your Recreation Passport! The park is so beautiful right now but we came to walk the Sleepy Hollow Trail and we were soooo confused trying to find it. There are NO signs for it. When you enter the park take a right at the sign that says “Cabins/Hike-in Campsites” and go all the way down to the end of the road to park. You’re basically walking towards the hike in sites to walk the trail. When you get to the dirt road you can cross or go down the dirt road. We took the road because we wanted to walk the island loop. We ended up walking 4 miles here. There were a lot of cars but we didn’t run into a lot of people. BEWARE OF TICKS. We found one on our dog when we got home.

I sat on the side of the lake where people go fishing. I went there to take pictures of the moon it was very clean and comfortable sitting there I never once felt afraid as it was past dark and I was alone but my experience was definitely Pleasant

We loved it at Sleepy Hollow. We played disc golf (after the first few holes, the course gets more advanced), geocaching, rode our bikes on the trails, visited the beach and had fun with the camp hosts. We saw lots of people fishing, kayaking (rentals available), and at the beach & playgrounds. Sites a nice size with good privacy and there some buddy sites. Modern restrooms are available, a sanitation station, and sites are electric only.

Almost every site has trees for added privacy. The dog Beach is next to the human Beach, our dogs had a blast! The showers were clean with warm water and great pressure. They do have vending machines at the showers if you need a snack or small items you may forget to bring. All of the staff are very friendly. The trails are amazing and there are plenty of them, both walking and biking. The playground is nice. It has a basketball court(including balls), horse shoes(including horseshoes), pavilion, swings, slides, sandbox(with toys) and other games. The dump/fill station is very convenient. The dumpster area has recycling (including; Styrofoam, metal milk jugs and more)and returnable bottle donation area. The beach has some shade trees, picnic tables and pavilions. It's close to a mile to walk to the beach but you can drive to it and park in the beach parking lot. The park has kayak rentals. They have a butterfly garden that attracts many butterflies. This park has more butterflies than any other I've seen previously. Quiet time at night is nicely enforced, They were always very polite. I plan on coming to this park again, it checked all of the boxes on my list.

BEWARE OF THE RACOONS!!! TENT CAMPING NOT RECOMMENDED!!! For a state park that has such clean bathrooms and that's taking the time to rake the goose poop off the beach I was so so disappointed. I reserved a site online several months ago to make sure I could get a spot near the bathroom. When we arrived the site was so small that there was no way we could set our tent up without it being basically next to the fire pit. More than half the site was an asphalt pad. I went back to the front and asked if we could switch spots because that was not a tent friendly site. She said they usually fill up on Thursday so I would only be able to switch for a few days and then I'd have to go back to my original site.... wait, who wants to set their tent up twice in 5 days? Also, didn't I just say my tent won't fit on that lot? So she looks and finds a few sites that are available for all but 1 of my reserved days. Can I get a refund for Saturday then? Yep absolutely. It's been probably 45 minutes since I tried to check in at this point so I take a map of the campground and went searching for a different site. I was incredibly surprised at how all the sites are set up. Finding a tent friendly site was nearly impossible, in fact the site where we wound up staying had a 50amp power hookup, so it was meant for big campers not tents. We had no idea what we were in for. We get situated, I got robbed $11 because I shortened my stay...so much for that refund huh... everyone was pretty tired so we went into our tents pretty early that first night. We had some snacks in the tent with us to munch on before bed. We watched some TV and then laid down to go to sleep. Probably 30 minutes later something is literally scratching at my tent trying to get in my tent. My husband wound up going around the tent spraying bee spray all around which seemed to keep them away that night. When we got up the next morning we realized that we had left some sunny d bottles out and the racoons had popped them all open and drank them. The next night we put away all the food, locked it in the van or in locking crates. And went to bed expecting to be left alone. That's not what happened though, again in the middle of the night something tried to scratch through my tent. Also, racoons can apparently open locking crates because they got all our bread and buns out. They also pulled out a hammock, they tore open and chewed up a bag of kindling, they took 2 packages of graham crackers off into the woods. I was mind blown. The next day we locked all the food in the van and we had a pretty big fire going. These racoons walked right up into camp over and over again while we were sitting around the fire talking. One literally came within 2 feet of my daughter before we realized it was there, and when we tried to chase it off it growled at us. The next night again everything was locked up in the van, we had actually started taking camp down so a lot of our stuff was packed up to go home. We burned through three bundles of wood keeping a raging fire going and three different times we had raccoons walk right up like they belonged there. What we didn't know is that one had actually torn though the back of my tent to get a box of Kool aid jammers that had gotten left in there. I now have a 6 inch long 5 inch wide hole in the side of my $300 tent. Let me make this clear. These are not cute little raccoons hoping for a bite to eat, these are aggressive angry food addicts who I was afraid were going to attack me with how brazen they were. No one told us how bad the racoons were when we checked in. When I was leaving I stopped in the office to complain. The girl said yeah they can be a bit of a nuisance. I'm like no this is infestation, not just a little nuisance. She said I'll mention it to my supervisor and apologized for the damage to my tent. My tent is unusable now, but they're sorry.

Okay, so I'm putting a one-star review on here because for one thing the spots to camp are so very, very tight and so very very small that you can't pull campers in easily. We have a 13-man tent that has three rooms in it. The first spot we got when we reserved a spot on mine when we got there our tent was going to be less than a foot away from the fire pit and that was the only area we could put our tent other than on a concrete slab The bathrooms were extremely clean. The park was clean. The fishing spots were good other than naturally a bunch of geese and a bunch of goose poop everywhere The beach was extremely nice and very clean other than the goose poop everywhere and the geese everywhere, as usual Now here comes the one star reason. Every night we were there. We were under assault by raccoons trying to get into our tent while we were inside the tent trying to scare them off Last night a raccoon ripped a giant hole in the tent while we were inside and it was trying to get to a Kool-Aid cooler that my girlfriend's son was drinking The night before that we were sitting around a fire and there were raccoons coming up within 2 to 3 ft of us and growling at us and hissing and chattering in the woods and my daughter and my girlfriend's son were terrified They need to do more about policing these raccoons somehow. I don't really know how they can do it but that is absolutely ridiculous. Other campers that I spoke to also had the same experience where the raccoons were actually trying to get in their tents or get in their campers. I was standing next to the picnic table in the night and a raccoon was growling at me less than a foot away But the lake was extremely beautiful and we had a good time other than at night time when we had to defend ourselves from raccoons every night we ended up having to get a different camping spot and ended up having to pay more money for it because it was a little bigger than the one we got When campers pulled in they had to jackknife their trailers and other cars that were across the street were blocking their way. So I watched a camper try for over an hour to get into his spot and it wasn't a large camper. Maybe 15 ft If you decide to go here, I don't know if you can request better pictures of your site, but I would try to get some real measurements of the camping area that you're going to reserve because these spots are extremely small and I'm talking maybe 20 ft long and that's with a fire pit in it and the camping area for tents is maybe 5 ft by 10 at the most To the bathrooms they were extremely cleaned and very nice in shape. But the handicap bathroom which I have to use because I have a stand-up Walker. I went in and it's hard for me to stand up so I had to pull the sit-down shower up and when I pulled it up I didn't notice that there are about a half inch screws all the way around the chair where they screwed the wood down and when I turned around they clawed my back like Freddy Krueger and I have scratches across my back and my rear end area I can say as far as camping there we will never come back

Excellent state park...spacious sites.Geat beach! Bathhouse was acceptable, shower heads could stand replacing. We were at site 157, and it was so pleasant! We'd come again!

It is a great state park. The main entrance has various camping areas and the staff I met were super friendly. I give it a four because the old road that used to go around the lake needs paving and should be open to public again. The trails are labeled ok, but they are not perfect upon close inspection. The boat landing is nice too and has 2 fishing piers and plenty of parking spots for trailers. I plan to explore the main entrances many trails on the far North end as they may have less travel than the boat landing trails.

Hello This park is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited, and it has a lake and beautiful views. It has places for camping, horses, and sporting activities, and it is great for spending enjoyable times with family or friends. I recommend visiting it.

My first visit in several years. Went today to explore the hiking trails. Sleepy Hollow is a hidden gem. Nice easy drive through the country to get there. It has camping, fishing, lite boating, hunting, horse riding, etc, etc. The colors in the fall are amazing. It's a wonderland in the winter. The main trails are for only hikers, bicyclists and horse riders. Dogs on leash. If you stick to the trails you'll wander through thick forests, go past wild meadows and stroll around open water ponds and alluvial ponds. Great place to bird watch. The parking area is in great shape. Bathrooms, a gazebo and those little bbqs are available. State Park passport required but if you don't have one go talk to a ranger. If there are no rangers, we'll, go on in and enjoy the park!

This place is amazing, very quiet and very nice. Each lot feels like your own! Privacy and secluded, and some are open to each other if you have a group. The park rangers are amazing and friendly and constantly walk around. The beach was clean, had plenty of trees for shade, and bbq grills if you needed one. There are 2 pavilion areas that you can rent. The camp hosts were awesome and had activities during the weekend for the kids. Restrooms and showers at the campground were clean. The beach restrooms were disgusting, but I'm sure that happens when its a busy day, and they do get clean daily. The playground was very nice. They also had a basketball court and a Ga Ga ball pit. We will definitely be coming back!

I wasn't sure what to expect because I grew up camping in State Parks. I remembered hole in the ground type bathrooms as a child. Sleepy Hollow did not disappoint! Our site was roomy, made private with trees/brush between and had an awesome fire pit. Each site has a paved driveway for your rig. The camp ground was full yet quiet with beautiful trails and clean restrooms with individual rooms for showers. We loved it and we'll be returning!!

Nice park with green and wooded areas. Most sites have cement pads for campers. Dog friendly, walking trails, Lake Ovid with beach and fishing piers. They also have canoe, kayak, and paddle board rentals. Staff is very nice and helpful. They even helped wrangle my dog who got loose. Many of the sites seemed kind of small, especially if you have a camper and a tent or a screen tent. There is a central bathroom in each section, bathroom and showers are older but clean and functional.

Paved paths to modern restroom, 2 pavilions, playground, & fishing dock. Disc golf, horse trails, biking, & hiking trails. Beach area near barrier- free fishing dock. There is another pavilion on the east end with a modern outhouse & also a pump for bike tires. Huge tent & RV campground in woods with modern restrooms, electricity, cement pads, drive-thrus. Boat launch nearby & 2 rental cabins with outhouse. Good road to park, but huge parking lots need repaving. Dog beach to R of people beach. Firewood for sale. Also several walk- in campsites on west end, if you want more privacy.

What a beautiful campgrounds. Very clean, each site is huge and secluded. The park Rangers come by daily picking up trash checking on people. They have stoned paths all thru the park. There are a lot of walking and biking trails. If you are into disc golf they have an 18 hole course. The beach is beautiful and clean. They have a separate beach for dogs. You can also rent canoes and kayaks for the entire day. Highly recommend this state park. They do not have full-site hook ups. But have the usual dump stations and water fill ups. Make sure if you have a larger rigg you check the site measurements, some of the sites were not fit for larger Riggs.

Was overall a nice campground. We stayed in Site F, which is the further Hike-In site. It was about a 1 mile walk and was fairly secluded. The site was clean, included a picnic table, fire put and posts to hang two hammocks. We bought wood from the campground office and after caring it about half way, a ranger did help haul it the rest of the way in their mule.

Let's get right to it. Sleepy hollow is one of the best campsites in Michigan. The lots are sized according to the size of your camper, and they keep privacy alive. The lots are surrounded by nature. The roads have a respectably low speed limit, and are paved, making it easy for biking. Sleepy Hollow has biking/hiking trails that lead through the woods, and to the beach. The beach is clean, and has a dock built for fishing. And, if you like to take pictures, there are multiple/many areas great for photography. I recommend this campsite to everyone. For the average camper or someone who likes/does wildlife photography.

Very nice state park. Workers are really friendly and helpful. Campgrounds and restrooms were well maintained...a few more features than some other parks I've camped at. Basketball court, and nice sized playground area for kids. Good bike trails. I lived in Lansing for 10 years and didn't even know this park was that close by...I would've been there probably every weekend... It's not a bad drive from Detroit I'll be back often. It was cloudy the day I was there so not much traffic, but the beach area and general park area are very nice.
