HORRIBLE!!! As someone else said I only put a one star because we can't put zero! This insurance is not even worth the words I'm writing. I was forced to switch last month and I already feel your guy's exact sentiments! They started off by denying a procedure that was literally already okayed by my prior plan! I have received atleast 4 denial letters already for services that were already being rendered and are just followup from things I've already done. Then I get to the pharmacy and they can't even find my prescriptions, because the company won't cover them! I'm done, I pray that I am still in some kind of trial period where I can still switch to another company!!
They offer vision insurance, but you can't use it. Nobody accepts this crap insurance. You will get doctors that don't care, and dentists that are God awful. I was trapped in this plan, after blue cross left Ingham county. AVOID AETNA!!!
Aetna Better health of Michigan was nothing but a headache. They have the worst member service representatives and customer service. They do not actively help with locating doctors or correct information. They will assign you any doctor whether they accept your insurance or not. They appear lazy and unhelpful. They do not even offer a list of updated doctors covered by the plan. Wish we would of done research before choosing this plan, we will be switching as soon as the time frame becomes available. If you are looking for a good MI health plan that is willing to assist you, steer clear of Aetna Better Health!
Should get no stars. Had to change health insurance company. I chose this one because most of my doctor's took it. But Aetna is horrible. They denied all medications that I need and have be taking since 2019.
I gave it one star just to write this review…. Every time I call this company it’s always something I keep sending in my daughter guardianship document that should be on file … Like our personal information is on there and there is no track record in their system unbelievable… I wish I had never registered with this company … when open enrollment comes around I will be switching…
The 1st Aetna plan was good I had no problems and then when my plan got switched to Aetna Better Health, I didn't switch it, I found out that NONE of my Dr's were in that network.
Aetna Better Health did not bother to send me my cards,I had to keep asking, I never received a benefit spending card AT All! they told me that it will arrive by the 26 of the month, that's almost the whole month! I still haven't seen it, they don't seem concerned about it. I'm not staying.
The worst insurance you will ever have. Avoid them at all cost! If your job offers it, seek another route. High premiums and you have to pay sooo much out of pocket. They also deny so many claims. I needed a CT scan and my bill after insurance is over a grand. Needed blood work done recently. Im being charged over $250 after insurance. Absolutely terrible company!
This company deserves 0.0 -Stars absolutely horrible and misleading. I was told by 3 people if I can show proof of medical insurance that has been established already I could cancel and yet they are refusing. I will be going on every other review site to let this be know!!
This is the worst insurance company I’ve ever experienced in my 53 years of life, even though this is through Medicaid of Michigan, due to me being disabled now, they only dispense medication through CVS , who never ever have any pain or mental health medication in stock, they don’t try and help you in any way. I’ve been paying for all my medications out of pocket at Walgreens since I’ve had this insurance. And then to top that off the denied dental fillings, citing I’ve had them done within the last 3 years, untrue by the way. But what if I had a cavity every year? This is terrible, the only thing this company is good for is finding ways to deny/ deprive you of the essential health care you need. I had straight Medicaid coverage before them, never had one problem, since Aetna I’ve had to pay for everything out of pocket, and have dug a deep hole in doing so, but you can’t put a price on your life nor let scum bucket companies like this kill you. I’m also sending this to the state legislation committee that controls this type of stuff.
Any chance they get they will hang up on you, lazy slobs. All I'm trying to do is get a letter stating that I have health insurance for my auto insurance!. But no one knows what I'm talking about!!!?
They deny my medicine even though my doctor says I need it. Then I have to spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket because somebody with no degree in medicine decides that AETNA didn't make enough money this year. Total trash everyone of you.
This is the worst insurance you can ever get. I would never suggest this insurance to anybody.
I Needed A MRI to see if I have an affection in my foot. They are saying that they want me to get injections in my foot or get physical therapy. If I'm in pain and you Don't know or that I don't What's wrong with my foot. Why would I get injections in my foot? You are making me jump through hoops to get help. How dare you play with people's lives and their health
This Company Is a COMPLETE JOKE.I have tried for 3 days to STOP UNWANTED , UNASKED FOR MAIL, AND HAVE GOTTEN NO WHERE. And all I have asked is a CALL BACK from the Corporate Office. I have never seen MORE CLASSLESS AND IGNORANT PEOPLE In my Life.Nice going Aetna you should be so PROUD.
TRASH! Not quite sure what my mom has been paying for in having this as her insurance through work, but post her having had a stroke and needing Neuro specific care they have been nothing but difficult and making it impossible for her to receive care. Her case worker tries, but she basically relays messages for the people "over" her who are again, TRASH. Rick Sturgis or however you spell his name is rude and completely unhelpful. Has spoken disrespectfully to those who have been trying to help us get my mom moved over to the rehab THEY approved her for and I never want to have to deal with him or this company again. You're better off waiting for open enrollment to come around again and picking some random company. These people don't care to see anyone succeed or be helped in terms of moving forward.
I wish I could give Aetna NO stars. I foolishly made my hubby cancel Blue Cross thru his job so I could insure us both w/Aetna. But Come on Aetna-this is ridiculous even for u. Late Wednesday morning my planned Friday neurosurgery was canceled as u declined to pay. U said do physical therapy….again. I’ve done PT 4 times. I had a device implanted in my back for 5 yrs for pain. I had years of injections that gave me little relief. But I think I get it. Clearly u see my Detroit address . Is the goal in the black neighborhoods to DENY hoping we forget or die waiting to have neurosurgery from a board certified neurosurgeon that says I need it? Then u never have to pay? How much more pain should I have to endure being black? After all I have done-still no surgery. I’ve been a nurse on my feet for 37 years only to have insurance that does little for me after I actually have done EVERY suggestion short of surgery already. Or at least maybe move to a white neighborhood before u ask for service.
I would give this company a -10 review if I could. This company just robs you of your money and your health. It's the worst. I pay as much for their best plan that I did for a best plan and a sub insurance with Blue Care. I never had to pay for any tests, Now I have to pay for everything until I meet my $3500 out of pocket. I can't get tests my Dr ordered because I need to know what they are going to cost and the insurance company can't tell me unless I get billing codes. I cant afford to just blindly go get tests not knowing what it will cost me. WHY am I paying for insurance out of EACH paycheck when I can't use it? It's not insurance it is a rip off scam.
Customer service hung up on me twice without giving me any help regarding my issue. This is easily the worst insurance I’ve ever had and getting them to cover anything that I NEED is almost impossible.
Bad customer service, can't get help. Leave messages they never call you back. They also told me they give a $50 gift card for doing some survey back in July, it's DECEMBER still NO gift card or word of one. This place is ghetto and unprofessional
Please don't enroll with this company. My dentist submitted and the lady just before me had the same insurance. She got 80% of her claim paid, yet my dentist told me he never heard back from them and I paid the full bill. I have never gotten a return on any of the supplemental insurance from them. In addition, the agent sold me life insurance, which I don't need, saying it was some type of health insurance which would cover if I got cancer and that I would get $10,000 after paying in 10 years with no questions asked. This is a horrible health insurance company- please do yourself a favor and seek a more reputable health insurance.
Please for your our health don’t go with Aetna. This is my first and only year with Aetna PPO and it has ended in tears. My biggest barrier with Aetna was just getting access to care. Aetna wants PA for everything and they’re all to happy to deny your request. I’ve been waiting on a MRI since July2020. Does Aetna care ? Nope.

Today I received an unexpected package in the mail from aetna. It had face masks, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and a bunch of other things in there. It definitely made my day. Thank you aetna.
This provider is beyond terrible. It doesn't even deserve the 1 star that I was required to give just to post this review. They stopped covering services for my disabled child that they had been covering for a two years; without informing me or the provider until the billing was denied. I know have medical bills into the thousands. They also stopped paying the pharmacy that we have been using since his birth. they're requiring us to go to CVS, which has never had his medication in stock. The closest one to our home is about 20 miles as well. Don't even bother. Please look elsewhere.
Should take more time investigating the doctors the trust with patients. Spent 2 years being shuffled around, helping Oakwood Beaumont hospital, doctors and specialist a bunch of $ with care hanging in the bounds. Was sent to see a host of my P C P doctors friends only to be told I was crazy. Even had an Advocate from the insurance company go to the doctor with me for them to spend us both. The advocate left me at the doctor and never return my call after they reached out to me claiming they would help, big lie. As a patients, I was left to figure out what was going on with me, change doctors and research everything I was being told, only to figure out that they are just pushing pills at me, sending me to specialist that would never help or had nothing to do with my problem while Aetna Better Health paid for it all and never questioned the doctors, but came after the patient and made her the problem when all I wanted was to feel better after years of searching. All this wh8le KNOWING Oakwood Beaumont is under investigation for doing the same thing to other patients. As I sit here watching another year go pass, sicker than what I was last year, with no help from the insurance company or the many doctors Beaumont has sent me to with the interest of monetary gain. I say thank you for nothing and forgetting, me as a patient, matters, if not to you, to my family and now we are left preparing for the worst because we still have no answers. Thank you for nothing.

I am just trying to start my health insurance for 30 days... It was a one time 10 minute call with my last insurance.
10 minutes of Aetna voice mail options with no call backs. I started over. Finally got a real person who, untrained, said they would call me back. They never did.
Called a week later. 10 minutes of Aetna VM options. Got someone on the line. Asked a question. Got put on hold for 5 minutes. They need to call me back. Waited 7 days. Missed the call. Illegible VM name and number. Back to Aetna VM...
