Paid norms 4500 to rebuild the top end of my engine, asked him to check the bottom end aswell, he said "its good those never go bad", 4 thousand miles later the bottom end started making noise, I sent it back to him it sat for 2 months before he looked at it and sent it back to me with a hole through the block, said nothing he could do except put in a used engine for an additional 9500,absolutely terrible experience
Diagnostics from other shops told us it was the transmission and wasn't worth a fix. Norm let us know the same day we dropped it off that he wanted to try his hand at rewiring a lot of the systems before counting it out. He took his time and even drove her over a couple of days to ensure she ran a couple cycles before letting us have it back. The car runs great. Thank you, Norm!
I brought my Mazda in to get new brakes, and a couple of tires. The guys there very helpful, and do great work! I would recommend them to anyone. Plus they’re open until 7pm which helps big time. Thanks guys, I’ll be back I’m sure soon enough.
Took my truck in for sudden brake issues, they were able to get it in right away but just let my rim with metal dust and brake fluid from the incident that I pointed out go and rust to shit while they held the truck for a week. A little courtesy would’ve been greatly appreciated here since I now gotta deal with the rim looking like this or spend 350$ on a new one. The new brakes are functional but they didn’t bleed those out nearly well enough either. Would not recommend bringing anything you care about in here.
My daughter‘s car needed a wheel bearing. Norms gave me an estimate over the phone. It was ready within four hours and the actual cost was less than they estimated.
Called other places and they wouldn’t give me an estimate over the phone. Who wants to invest a bunch of time getting a vehicle to a place to get an estimate that’s too high…. Or maybe that’s their strategy.
In any case, Norms service was great.

I have taken my vehicle to them twice and couldn't be more impressed with their turn around time and more importantly their honesty. My father in law dropped me off and asked them a question on his car, they were higher on the quote he had already gotten but they mentioned that the labor was the reason, after he picked his car up from the original auto shop he paid more than Norms quote. Great guys.

Norm and the mechanics have always done a great job with fair prices servicing my used cars. Transparent cause and repair. The shop is always busy with lots of cars in there for service as well as the repaired delivery rows because of the amount of cars they fix.

Explained everything thoroughly, discussed things in a way I could understand. They got the work done quickly. Average price. Will use them again if I need to. Shop is very plain, definite working shop. Not a fancy office/waiting area, but the repair is what I came for, and was happy with the work .
Since I've found norms. It's the only place I would like to keep giving my money to, pretaining to fixing my old rusty 2000 expedition! Doesn't over price and get it's road worthy in a timely manner while communicating the whole time. I feel I can trust him and it's a wonderful feeling. I appreciate you norm.
Haven't been to an auto repair shop as honest and reasonably priced as Norm's. I usually do my own work on my cars but when it's something I won't do I'll take it to Norm's. I've been to another place nearby that was pushing replacement parts on my older ride that cost way more than the car was worth. Took it to Norm and he was honest about what I actually needed for a safe ride, saved me a bunch of money. Thanks Norm!
Norm is very honest person. He never tries to upsell you and works with your budget. I am always satisfied taking my vehicle there over the past 25 years.
We would like to thank this place from the bottom of our hearts. We had a flat tyre almost 8 miles away from this shop ( near to woods) and didn’t where to go as it was 3rd of July and the next day was a holiday. We stopped at all nearby auto parts and luckily my wife told me that this place was open and we should give a try. We came at 7:45pm and the closing time was 8pm. But they made sure our tyre was fixed. Norm’s literally saved our holiday trip. Thank you Norm’s Automotive service.
I was the ride back from dropping off a car but my friend says this place is always busy, sets a very reasonable price and stand by their work. This isn't a regulated dealership so the work time may be a bit longer than you would like but the results are probably worth the investment. My friend is very tight with his money and spends it wisely.
I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to Norm’s Total Automotive Service of South Lyon. Thursday evening on the my way to do a few evening quotes I had catastrophic brake failure! I called Norm’s explaining that this is our primary work vehicle that needs to be out on the road servicing our customers and supporting our teams with the necessary equipment for each painting project. Norm’s is such a great guy, he and his staff had the work van back in service by the next day!

When my transmission failed on my service van, Norms was Johnny on the spot! They installed a brand new GM transmission and had me back out on the road in one week to the day! In today’s world that is near impossible. Norms understood that I made my living with this van and got me out of there as fast as possible. Three weeks later, the water pump went out. Norms had me back on the road the very next day. While I would never expect that as a normal customer, the fact that he could do it for a commercial customer was astounding. The work was flawless. I can’t recommend Norms enough.
My Honda Odyssey was making some odd noises and so I did some googling and thought that it was the axel and I called norm on the phone and he consulted me and told me what to do on the phone. Sure enough it solved my problem. As soon as a new problem presented that I knew I couldn’t fix myself I brought my van to Norms. There were a ton of cars in the lot and I was just a walk-in. After only one day I called to get a time estimate and he told me that he would get to it that day. Sure enough he did! He solved the problem and for a great price.
Norm is the man. His mechanics are diligent and thorough. We don't even live in South Lyon but my family brings our vehicles there every time we need work done. I could not be more satisfied with their transparency and overall quality of work. Highly recommended
Great shop, they have somehow been able to sneak my smaller jobs in same day and deliver quality every time. I do all my own work on vehicles but don't have some of the more expensive equipment like tore machines or alignment rack so I take it to them. Any one who asks for a reliable shop with more than reasonable prices, I now send to them.
WARNING!!!!!! NORM IS A SCAM. I’m always cautious with mechanics. I walked in and told norm I needed a tune up on my vehicle. He told me he would give it a tune up. What norm didn’t know is I am a mechanic and own a company but simply don’t have time to work on my own vehicles. So in search of a mechanic I always give my car a tune up and then take it in to see if the mechanic is honest. SURE ENOUGH, NORM CALLS ME BACK WITH A PLETHORA OF LIES. To say one simple example. Norm “ yea I’m standing here looking at your spark plugs and they definitely need to be replaced. New spark plugs were installed a week prior. And on and on he want with lies. I’m a certified mechanic. SCAM ARTIST
My experience was okay... Price was $375 for a pulley a belt and a oil change. I felt it was a little pricey but I got my car back a few hours later. What really got me is when I paid the bill I gave the man $400 dollars even and he haned me my keys paperwork and change.. realized later he gave me $5 back in change . Only good thing I can say is it got fixed same day...
This is the second time I've taken my car to Norm's and I have had a great experience each time. They have been friendly, professional and have always given us fair prices for what we needed done, and gotten the work done quickly. I will definitely keep giving them my business!
Norm recently saved our daughter's Saturn from a the fate of the scrapyard. These guys work more hours than the bigger guys and have treated us fairly every time we've gone there. As an experienced car guy who lacks the time and space currently to fix his own beaters I trust these guys to do honest, quality work. Doubt they need my endorsement but here it is!

Just had a tune up done on my 2007 Pontiac G5. It is running better now than when I bought it 7 yrs ago. Great service. Fair prices. They tell what needs to be done and what can wait. They are one of the good guys. I will be back
