It pains me to write negative reviews but I had the worst experience with this shop especially because it seems like they do good business. I dropped my car off to get an estimate over labor day weekend Kyle was prompt and quick with what he thought the issue might be. I left my car over the weekend because I was going to be out of town for the holiday he said he would have his receptionist send an estimate. The next day I received the estimate and for the work that was needed to be done the estimate seemed a bit high so in my mind no big deal I will pick the car up when I get into town and get a second opinion. Well I get back into town and I walk in to pick up my jeep and the receptionist says your invoice is $440 which completely caught me off guard because I never gave verbal or written consent for his shop to do any work on my car. I was able to get my car back but after all of this probably 2 weeks later I get a call from South Lyon PD asking about what the situation is and what happened which is the biggest head scratcher because this was a civil matter. I like to hold my self to a high standard but trying to dump a bill on someone for work they didnt approve is completely unprofessional and all happened because of a simple lack of communication on your behalf.
I was a walk-in that needed an oil leak checked and was leaving for Texas in a few days. They checked my brakes unasked and recommended discs and rotors. Come two days later, all was done at a very reasonable price and they also fixed a couple of small things I had been putting off. These folks were wonderful!
Took my truck there. Kyle is a straight shooter. I'm new to diesels so he explained everything in great detail. Let me know it was something simple and I can do myself so my work truck wouldn't be down waiting to be fixed. Great place, great ladies at the counter also. Everyone was very informative and helpful.

I brought my truck here after taking it to another shop worst case scenario at the other shop was $1,000 more than what they quoted me worst case scenario everyone I talk to was extremely helpful and professional they know exactly what they're talking about unlike the previous shop I took my truck to I'm definitely going to bring my truck here for future work
Finally, a business that's well run,staffed with real people who listen, and are interested in having me return if I need their expertise again. I got a proper repair done in a timely fashion without feeling like there was a hand in my wallet while they held back their laughter. I'll use National Mechanix again, no question.
I went in originally thinking my only problem was my rear wheel hub, they alerted me to a failing tie rod, bad struts, and a bad serpentine belt. They did nothing without my permission, staff was very kind and incredibly professional and had all that work done the same day. Make an appointment you won't regret it!

Spot on mechanics. Been fighting with my 350 for 10 months now with a vibration and Kyle knew what was wrong with it in a matter of about 3 minutes of driving it. Thats after being in a different shop 3x in the last year for this problem. I own a small business and cant have my trucks going down and will not be taking my trucks anywhere else. Very fair pricing and fast service.
I took my Jeep in today they were very nice and you could tell that they were very intelligent, honestly not like any other mechanic store I’ve seen, their prices are excellent and they had it done in 4 hours amazing work I definitely recommend going here. Found National Mechanix by word of mouth from Spartan Tire in Brighton. So happy for that! Amazing service I really trust. I was actually waiting for my Ram diesel to go out of warranty as the work here is better than what you can get at any dealer in the area. Prior to my warranty expiring I had my truck in for an oil and fuel filter change. Kyle gave it a look over and pointed out items to have addressed which would be covered by the dealer. I've taken my 2010 Toyota Matrix into National on a couple occasions. Kyle did a good job of diagnosing the issues on both occasions and fixing only what needed to be fixed, and doing so in a timely manner. I'm glad to have found a competent, trustworthy mechanic in this area.

Kyle has been taking care of our vehicles for over 5 years. He is honestly a great person, he over sees all work that is done at he shop. He is a hands on owner and you won’t go wrong taking you vehicle there from small car to large diesel truck.

National Mechanix is the only place that I trust with my vehicles. I have both American and European vehicles and I like that I can trust National Mechanix with both of them. Kyle has always explained the services that he is performing well, as well as performing them at reasonable rates. I especially like the new waiting area. It makes life a lot easier to be able to wait for a quick service to be performed rather then arranging a ride and picking my car up later.
I had taken my car to several shops trying to determine what was wrong with it and what needed to be done to correct it, but had no luck. National Mechanix was my last try after hearing what great work Kyle and his team provided. Within a very short time frame they assessed the problem, ordered the parts and fixed my vehicle for a fraction on the price it would have cost me at my previous locations. My car now runs great and I have had no problems with it. I hope that whoever sees this review can learn from my mistakes and just go straight to National Mechanix first.
I drive from Jackson Mi,, aprox 1hr to have my three vehicles serviced. I take my vehicles to National Mechanix because Klye does outstanding work, he is honest and he stands behind his work. This is the only place I will take my vehicles.
Finding a decent, honest mechanic can be very stressful. Many people have horror stories about visiting the wrong shop. Fortunately, I have always had EXCELLENT experiences with National Mechanix. Customer Service appears to be number 1 with this company! Owner Kyle Ellis is accurate, fair, honest, he stays within the timeframe he states (or earlier), and he is knowledgable! Never have I felt as a female that he has taken advantage of me. :-) His business is easily accessible to US23. His equipment is in excellent working order. He has previously worked for years and years for GM and his experience shines through. You always leave getting your car worked on thinking, 'will I come back to this place?" I will ALWAYS come back to National Mechanix.
