Very good analysis about the ailments of my 20+ year old car although all I needed was a front brake job; it was well done. I will return for rear brake servicing, SIR servicing amd exhaust inspection.

The service was top notch and the staff was friendly and helpful. I came in for an alignment and needed new tie rods as well. Two days following the service I took my car on a 3 hour trip and it’s driving as good as it did when it was new. Thank Al and the Detroit Garage!
They quickly got me a quote, diagnosed things correctly, and fixed my car sooner than promised! Everyone was professional to work with and they were excellent in how they treated my car and myself as a customer. My only wish is that the repair was cheaper (my brother had the same issue with A/C compressor replacement in Utah and got it complete for $300 less) but they had a mailer coupon for $100 off repairs over $1000 so that was nice. I will definitely return to them.
This place is a joke! Took it here to have them check an oil leak they started they put it up on a hoist and couldn’t proceed due to frame rail buckling due to corrosion unsafe to lift so they could not proceed but how did you know it had an oil leak which was sent to me via text ( how they communicate)! they also told me it was undeemed unsafe to drive Picked it up took it to another mechanic and they put it up on the hoist without no mentioning of it being unsafe to drive and they stated there is a small oil leak visible! PEOPLE ALWAYS GET SECOND OPINIONS
Brought my car in for a second opinion, best decision I made. They got the work done in 1 day and I saved a whole lot of money. Would recommend everyone to come here.

Needed rear brake replaced, they had suggested I get all my calipers replaced as well, I agreed. 2 days after I had received my car, the pins in my front left caliper had fallen out. I was able to get this fixed on my own, but I had come back to the shop to seek a partial refund for the shoddy work and endangering my life.
After 21 days, I eventually got a partial refund, but it took a lot of contacting the shop to check in with what was going on. I can't in good conscience recommend this location based on the lengthy amount of time it took for someone to even admit fault. Other locations may be a better choice if you like this chain.
The website made it so easy to schedule my appt, my diagnosis and had me approve everything without having to talk to someone - which made it all so smooth! They were so fast and professional! Def will use for all future service!
Great work and communication throughout the process! I had been told by a different shop I needed to replace my engine, but they were able to get me up and running again by diagnosing the real problem!!
I had my brakes done here, and after 6 months my car started shaking. The guy who re-did them said that they looked burnt and that the Detroit Garage did not insert the spring that Acura’s need. Mistakes happen, I get that, however, I contacted the manager Al to try and make things right before writing this review. They did not respond to my email with pictures and an invoice that he asked me to send him. They are screening my calls at this point. Bad overall experience. After the car was fixed elsewhere, we figured out they charged double what other places do for brakes. For those reasons, I do not recommend this establishment to others.
Addition: I then contacted Matt to let him know that my car was in IL when the brakes had to be redone for safety. After 2 weeks of no response again, I am out $700 paid to the Detroit Garage for a faulty job, and $375 to have them re-done.
I had the Farmington location of Detroit Garage replace the brakes on my SUV. The woman who answered my call was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to provide a rough price estimate. It was easy to make the service appointment at a convenient day and time. After I dropped off my vehicle, the communication from the shop was clear and concise. The work was done quickly and I am pleased with the results. I will definitely consider Detroit Garage Farmington for my future service needs!
This is more then a garage. They help, care, host community events & participate in the holidays in our downtown community of Farmington, Mi. I have been wanting to support this biz for awhile. I have had leased cars since I lived in the area & the dealership would take care of my vehicle. Well bought a car last summer! Not that I am happy woth the car 100% but I am happy with the services at the Detroit Garage. I want to call it the Farmington Garage. They offer online coupons for basic things that need checked or serviced on vehicles.
My brakes suddenly were failing with no warning. Googled it. It said do not drive it when brakes are almost down to the floor. I needed to get it to the closest place as possible. At first they said they needed to keep it for the day to check it out. I was reading online how to drain the brakes and it sounded like a fairly fast and easy with the right tools and knowledge, so nervous about leaving it - thinking oh great they are going to find 10 other things and my Bill is going to be outrageous. I didnt have a choice do left it there. They took me to work. I gave them the time I should be getting off. Minutes from that time they called to tell me the car was ready. I said OK great and they offered to pick me up. I asked the dreaded questio..how much? They said nothing!! Not even for the rides? NO ITS no cost. Unbelievable. They cared to help me. They listened to me, they just go over & Above.
I will return soon. This Time they supported me. Love it when the tables are turned like that. Especially with recent events in my life, money has been very tight.

I came in for a pre-purchase inspection. Al quickly and promptly got me an appointment, which was a huge relief. After the inspection, the crew at Farmington garage explained carefully and thoroughly what the report meant. If I had any questions, he did not hesitate to answer any of them. Not only that, he did a great job advising me and gave me expert advice. I never felt like he was pushing a product or his agenda. He was really looking out for me, the consumer.

I have been going to this local business for vehicle repairs for years because they always do a good job and answer all of my many questions. My vehicle is 20 years old and been neglected by me in the last 2 years due to my poor health but when I drove today that good old Jeep felt brand new. Staff is professional while still managing to be friendly. 5 stars!

This is our go-to garage right in the middle of downtown Farmington. They are always able to fit me. Their prices are competitive and I trust their service. They are always willing to answer my questions and give me options that best fit my needs and budget. Great communication.
Disappointing experience. Been to this auto shop twice and will not be returning. On the front of their store, they advertise: “Free brake check”, “Free Battery Check”. So when I stated my car battery died and my brakes were faulty, they still charged me $121 for an initial inspection fee which DOES NOT go towards repairs and will not mention that to you. For reference, some other car shops will apply the inspection fee towards repairs. On top of that, a battery replacement here costs well over $300 for parts and labor (as a reference for their prices, they quoted me about $1400 for a full set of brake pads and rotors). I felt cheated by the entire experience since I paid >$500 just to change a battery which seems very overpriced. As a comparison, got a second opinion on the same service for brakes at another store and got quoted around sub $900 which is a staggering difference.
One review mentioned that coming here left a sour taste in his mouth. I couldn’t agree more. I texted Al, the owner to specifically inflate my low tire pressure tires to which he replied “sure” and I get my vehicle back with low tire pressure light indicator still on, reflecting their poor attention to detail and customer service. I came here initially because of the high reviews and proximity to where I live but I could not understand why this place got such high praise considering my experience with the inflated prices for parts and labor, sketchy business practices. A google search will let you know estimated low and high end of price ranges for repairs and this place runs in the high price range for most services.
One positive thing about this place is that they are at least responsive to text/call and communicate with you on service updates so you can see a summary of recommended services but that’s about it. I expected much better from this place and even gave them a second chance but I learned my lesson and will be taking my business elsewhere. My recommendation is to save your hard earned cash and find another place that quotes fair prices on your vehicle repairs.
Clean place. Oil change went very smoothly. They recommended services according to owner's manual schedule and for some brake pad wear. They have a nice rating system for how important and they include prices. Fortunately, no pressure. I left with only the oil change but may be back for some of their recommendations.
Al was so wonderful! I was having lunch with a friend (luckily) across the street on a blizzard of a day … tire went completely flat, and I had an appointment 20 minutes from then that I couldn’t miss. I ran into the store and desperately asked if Al could quickly help put my spare on, told him I’d pay whatever the charge. He took care of it, without charge (even though I insisted) in 10 minutes. It was SO kind because I was in such a rush and didn’t have anyone else to help me. Really saved my day and his staff did a great job!! Thanks, Al!
Al and the team at The Detroit Garage have serviced all my vehicles. When it was time to move on from my F150, I purchased this Tundra. Knowing I wanted to make changes to the factory wheels, I picked the rims, Al helped with tires and ensured the package would look good on my vehicle. I can’t say enough how happy I am with the decision. Al and the team did it again!
