As other reviews state the woman working there can be very rude uncalled for. I did have one decent experience the first time there. My second visit I misunderstood some rules that aren't the same as other yards and was politely asking questions to clarify just for her to be rude and say she's not trying to argue with me and to leave. I wasn't trying to argue as I treat all workers with respect and I am not the person who comes in with the customer is always right attitude, I was just trying to figure out what I needed to do to be right on my part. Luckily greenville steel isn't far and they took care of me there
I don't even know if 1 star is bad enough. Apparently, this location doesn't care how they treat their customers. I brought some metal here as I have before. While the girl had my driver's license, I thought I'd clear some ice off of my windshield wipers. She said "please don't do that here." I said ok and I'd wait until I'm done unloading in the yard. When I came back around to the front, the gate was chained at 12:30 pm so I had to wait until they were done with lunch before I could get paid. Then, I was told I was deducted 20 lbs because of the ice I left on their yard!!!! I tried to talk to her about it but she didn't care and spoke over the top of me in a rude fashion instead. You really shouldn't let your employees make arbitrary decisions that are this petty involving customers. She didn't care when I said I'd be talking to someone in her company. Well, they don't have a customer service number to call so leaving my review was the only way to make her behavior known. What she did was comoletely unnecessary and was laughable, really. That young woman needs some customer service TRAINING and some adequate SUPERVISION because itclear to me she shouldn't be meeting the public. A little bit of ice off my hood and wipers and they deducted it for "leaving snow behind in our yard." I told her I waited a half hour to hear that?! I've made my last trip to Fair Salvage. Nobody cares about their customers! Just when lunch was and oh, let's ding this guy arbitrarily. I'm really MAD about the treatment of this young woman who is young enough to be my granddaughter!!! Where can a 67 year old retiree get some respect if it isn't at a place of business?
Very poor customer service today from 1 person in particular. Very, interrupting, short, accusatory and rude. Couldn't even say anything about wrongly assuming we were hiding something. Also I am sorry the front of my car was in the grass, it looked like others parked there and my son in law (who had never been to a place like this) pulled in the wrong drive. I didn't mean to make that mistake or offend anyone, I would have and did move it with no issue at all but there is no reason for the rudeness! I just thought she meant after getting off the scale as we were holding up other customers. I have sent people you way numerous of times and been there lots of times in the past and never experienced this treatment. Hopefully she was just having a rough day and hopefully she finds something to smile frfr about! On a positive note the other person working with her was so polite and professional a pleasure to work with. Again i am sorry for the front part of my car being in the grass it was an honest mistake. I go across Michigan using scrap metal yard usually the people working the yard and the offices are down to earth and cool to interact with but showing up to this scrap yard immediately I recognize the women weighing me in was fake as hell fake smile all around fake person it's like her personality came out of a box I am so glade this was a convenient stop I will avoid this place like the plague
Long story short, I got taken for a ride, unless you live close by and can just drive over and get them to look at it, I'd avoid Fair Salvage Company.
I brought 200ish pounds of 0 gauge cable in that padnos has always taken as #1 insulated. When I took it in to Fair Salvage Company, they would only take it as #2 insulated but I had made a 2 hour round trip for the advertised #1 insulated price, so I sold to them so I didn't waste the trip.

Tried to tell me the inside cast iron part of a piano only weighed 100#’s. Took two guys to load it. The scale was not zeroed out when I pulled up. Tried to talk to them but they weren’t hearing me.
This used to be the best place around until the owners son took over. . He acts like an over privileged kid and really is unprofessional all of my business will be elsewhere!
