We loved our stay at this resort! It was very peaceful and beautiful. Staff were very helpful when we had car problems and needed a mechanic. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding on the lake and sipping our morning coffee on the chairs on the back lawn.

This place is a walk back in time. The rooms are cozy in the hotel. There is no air conditioning or TV but there are lots of lawn games, water toys, outdoor seating including a beautiful back porch available instead. The beach area is small but inviting. They offer bikes, kayaks, and standing boards for use.The hotel building is very large and includes several seating areas inside, a large dining area and a fun game room. This is different from a standard hotel with the private bathrooms that are down the hall from the room. The whole facility seems very clean. There are not food prep items in the room but there is a shared refeigerator, microwave and toaster in the facility. There were many photos from years past, bookselves filled with classic books and antique furniture. This place and staff are willing to accomodate and think of many extras we might need including towels and blankets for outdoor use. We would love to return to this place in the future.

Such an awesome place had no idea what I was getting into before I booked it but it’s this awesome gorgeous old huge mansion that they converted into a hotel… Or just a really old hotel. Right on the water, really beautiful scenery and definitely affordable, it was $143 booking it just a few days before in the middle of June. Pretty good value for a sweet experience.

Summer in northern Michigan feels like stepping back in time—a place where you can disconnect from technology and immerse yourself in nature. Fountain Point embodies that charm: peaceful, nestled by the lake, and seemingly frozen in a simpler era. Sounds idyllic, right?||||For some, it might be. I never considered myself privileged. I saved up for my vacation, eager to unwind at Fountain Point with my kids. Before the trip, my teenage daughter received a Polo towel from her boyfriend as a gift. One afternoon on the beach, we noticed another family with the same towel but didn’t think much of it.||||The next day, while using our towel on the beach, the manager approached us, accusing us of stealing it from that family. Shocked, I stood my ground, but he threatened to call the police. Rather than escalate the situation, we gave up our towel, packed our things, and left. I have never felt so humiliated.||||So, if you’re white and privileged, perhaps you’ll have a different experience. But for me, Fountain Point was anything but welcoming.

We just hosted our daughter’s wedding at Foxglove Farm and selected the Fountain Point Resort as the accommodation for our guests. The combination of these two venues could not be more perfect. (We wrote a separate Google review on Foxglove Farm). Having all of our guests at the Fountain Point Resort (we basically took over the place!) meant that we truly had a weekend long celebration. The party started Friday night with a welcome bonfire, s’mores, beer and wine. The staff at the Fountain Point took delivery of our alcohol and, at the appropriate time, placed ice and our beverages in large buckets which they transported down to the bonfire for us. On Saturday, we hosted the late night snack and after party in the main house of the lodge. (This was possible because our guests had rented all of the rooms in the lodge). Our guests were thrilled when they arrived back to the resort following the wedding reception and were greeted by an amazing feast of sliders and truffles fries with all the fixings. A really late night (early morning) bonfire capped off the evening. We also served a light brunch in the dining room Sunday morning. Though we arrived a little early to make sure the dining area was cleaned up from the night before the Fountain Point staff had already done that for us. And, when we realized that the caterer for our brunch forgot to include plates, napkins and utensils in their delivery the Fountain Point staff pulled out glass plates we could use while they drove to the caterer to retrieve the missing items. (And then they placed the dirty plates in the dishwasher for us). Aside from the incredible above and beyond service, the setting with its white cottages along Lake Leelanau is spectacular. Our guests enjoyed taking advantage of all the lake “toys” (fishing rods, small boats, nets, etc.) and just soaking in the serene surroundings on adirondack chairs. The cottages themselves (including the beds) were very comfortable and the various configurations — from one bedroom to large multi bedroom — allowed us to put families and friends together. Those on a tighter budget could stay in a single room right in the main lodge. Our daughter and her partner really wanted a wedding weekend that felt like grown up sleep away camp with everyone together. The Fountain Point Resort delivered and, between their service and setting, contributed to what was a truly magical weekend. We cannot recommend the Fountain Point more highly. Many thanks to Theo, Eric, Kathy, Ken, Elaine and Jason and everyone at the Fountain Point who made our stay and weekend so special!

We attended a family outdoor wedding. The views from sitting on the wrap around deck to sitting out by the beach were all relaxing and absolutely picturesque.

Rented the "Brown Cabin". Ample room for 12 people. Everyone enjoyed themselves, had plenty of space which allowed opportunies for quiet time as well as family togetherness. The goal is to leave everyone begging for more. Goal accomplished!

I stayed here for a night after a camping trip just to sleep in a bed and have a nice shower before I left to go back home, and now I’m wishing I could have stayed a couple extra days here. The main house is an old school hotel, unlike any hotel experience I’ve ever had. As a whole it’s very charming and relaxed. I loved the porch, I spent most of my time on it reading and snacking. I also hung out in the main room late at night on a comfy leather couch reading for a while as well. My room had a king sized bed and an offshoot room with a twin and it had its own sink. I slept great. No tvs, which I loved, but they do have WiFi. The bathrooms are down the hall with the toilets and showers. They have a room with a little coffee bar and a fridge for guests to store their food. They have a nice beach front for their guests and let you use their kayaks and canoes. They have pool tables and loads of other activities and games available for you. Me and my family usually stay falling waters lodge every summer, but that place is getting way too crowded and expensive. I think from now on I’ll bring my family here instead. I very much enjoyed myself.

A remote, throw back camp location our rowing organization used for a 3-day camp. Lots of extra activities like kayaks, paddle boards, fire pit, etc. they even had a closet of games and a neat museum of throwback items.

The Fountain Point Resort was once a bustling place. I have stayed here 3 times. It is sad to see it's decline. The staff us still good, the location good, things are clean...it is just that there are no extras.|Back in the day, they had live music throughout the season and some form of breakfast....now they have nothing. Coffee via Keurig only.|They do have paddle boards etc for you to use, which is great but I hate to see the property just "sit there" They have all the equipment to serve breakfast but don't. Even the museum in site is closed up. |So sad...|

Lovely place to stay. It's usually cool here but we stayed when it was Soaring hot. Fan in the window & we brought our own fan, but no AC. Comfortable king bed, 2 twins pushed together. Still I slept great. Just needed a place to stay & this was a just the ticket!

This is a review of Fountain Point solely as an outdoor concert venue. I attended the '22 & '23 Lyrics 'round the Lake singer/songwriter concerts. Love the concept & the artists! Great format, though maybe the artists should play their known hit(s) sooner in the set, along with stories about those hits, to get the audience going sooner. Also the sight lines this year on the audience's left weren't good, as approximately 30% of the audience couldn't see the singer on their left (Marc Broussard), or the violinist sitting near him, because a speaker was blocking their view. Ticket price is apparently too high as it looked like there were less patrons than last year. Hope you continue tweaking things & do it again next year!

Beautiful small resort right on lake leelanau. Welcoming and open feel. Staff is very warm and welcoming, as well as efficient. Hotel and individual cottages as well as beach access. Amazing venue for weddings or any event. Waterway access and you can get boats right up to the dock and even use the boat house.

Cleanest rooms ever! Beautiful grounds and very well kept. Great staff!! A relaxing place to stay and convenient location for wine tasting. Also, close to Suttons Bay, a cute town with great food.

Let's start with the fact that having a wedding at Fountain Point was the reason that my now husband and I decided to get engaged when we did. It was our dream location... Leelanau, everyone stays on-site, vintage cute, lakeside. We were so excited and honestly, our wedding was wonderful. However, Fountain Point is seriously lacking in some areas. I'm not sure they're entirely prepared to host weddings, even though they do many of them every year. It never seemed like they had it together and our vendors weren't surprised. It would be helpful for them to create a document to give couples that details all of the rules, expectations, and things they have to offer. Instead, I had to email over and over with questions that I didn't even know I needed to ask. They also failed to disclose that DJs weren't allowed until after we had already booked one. They "accidentally" forgot to tell us that the breakfast truck included in everyone's stay was no longer working with them... they knew 9 months before the wedding but I didn't find out until 2 months before. They do have a lot of things that you can use including industrial coffee makers, galvanized steel troughs, deep freezers, toasters, etc. but you have to ask for all of it. We got through these issues... and then came the worst of it. We arrived on the Wednesday before our wedding to find the bathrooms on the 2nd floor of the hotel were in the process of being renovated, which no one told us, and there were NO TOILETS installed and Erik (one of the managing brothers) treated me terribly when I called to express concern. He also said to one of my guests the next day, "We have an anxious bride on our hands." This is unacceptable. I hardly consider concern over a lack of bathrooms as me being an "anxious bride." Thankfully, they were finished in time for our guests who arrived on Thursday, but he took no responsibility. They also started changing room assignments without asking me due to the bathroom situation after I worked very hard to assign my guests appropriately. Then, on Thursday, the hot water went out in half of the cabins and everyone had to share bathrooms. Again, no responsibility. Overall, I would choose to get married there again. It was an incredible setup for the wedding and allowed all of our friends and family to enjoy each other's company for 5 days. The game room is great, the property is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the fire pits are nice (they provide firewood), and the cottages are adorable. I just think they need someone who is event savvy to handle the weddings and communication.

Fantastic place. You're walking into the past in all the best ways. A wonder restful place. The staff is really kind and helpful, and the only reason it's not 5 stars is the breakfast service is current gone (probably Covid) The rooms and buildings are older, and the bedrooms are sparsely furnished. But honestly that's why you come here. If you want a 5 star lush hotel this isn't it. But it was never met to be. It's quiet, beautiful and just about perfect.

We got married at Fountain Point on June 4, 2022. It was really important for us to have the option for guests to stay on property at the venue, as many of them are were from all over the country. Fountain Point provided that and so much more! This place is magical and guests loved their stay. The owners are responsive, the staff are friendly, and you really have free rein to create whatever type of wedding weekend you desire. Book them for your wedding!!

We just had our wedding on June 5 2021 at Fountain Point and it was our dream come true. From the very start we wanted a location where we could have everyone stay on the same property on a lake. This venue blew our expectations out of the water. We kind of fell into Fountain Point because of Covid - our original venue couldn't accommodate us with the restrictions so weeks before our wedding we moved to Fountain Point and we are SO thrilled that we did. The setting is absolutely stunning. It feels like a magical land tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where there is an open field of greenery, a gorgeous fountain and a view and access to stunning Lake Leelanau. Everyone stayed in cabins on the property and there was something for everyone to do: kayaking, swimming, lawn games, bikes, relaxing on the porch. It's impossible to have a bad time there. The food truck on site for breakfast is also beyond delicious and a fun gathering spot for everyone. There is a stunning maple tree in the middle of the property where we had our Friday night welcome party and it was simply magical. For Saturday we were able to bring in our own tent and create the wedding of our dreams. The ceremony spot on the lake felt like heaven. It was absolutely perfect and will hold a special place in our hearts forever. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you to the entire team for making it a dream for us.||||Also, there is no wifi and the cabins are rustic but in the best way possible. Charming and intimate it is the perfect getaway for a lakeside week or weekend to unplug away from it all.

We love Fountain Point! We got married there on 8/22/20 and the venue was absolutely perfect! We had almost the whole resort rented out with our wedding guests and received nonstop compliments on how beautiful everything was! The team there is so sweet as well, they were so accomodating for us and all of our guests! Now we're looking for our next excuse to rent the place out! :)

Fantastic summertime resort. Erik, the owner, is very friendly and accommodating. It's very family friendly and an absolutely idyllic setting. Immediately when we got there, we felt relaxed. We would get out on the water in the mornings, then grab pizza from a delicious food truck that was invited to the grounds. The main hotel is beautiful, classic, and on the historic register. The porch is very relaxing. The staff are youthful and vibrant. It's a great community.

My wife and I arranged a week-long rowing camp at the Lake Leelanau rowing club, which is connected to the fountain point resort. We loved our time at the rowing club and at the resort. Every morning we'd row, and get great exercise. The resort has many water sport options. Then, we'd grab a pizza at the food truck that was invited to the grounds. Then we'd head to the nearby Lake Michigan beaches to relax. The resort itself has a classic look. The main hotel itself is historic and captures an old-world feel with a beautiful veranda and grand interior.

We love the concerts here! Fountain Point is so unique and a real gem in Leelanau county. Full of history and character, also the staff are very nice! Highly recommended.

We felt like there were a lot of surprises at Fountain Point, both good and bad. ||We stayed in the main hotel building and arrived on a very hot day. Our room did not have an a/c unit (apparently most places don’t have a/c in the area?), so the top floor was very very hot. However, our biggest surprise was the communal bathrooms. Not something we expected for the price. Room was clean and simple, but the bathroom needed some attention. ||Staff was friendly and the grounds are beautiful with many activities. They also have hair dryers available, you just need to ask the staff. They were also cool with us bringing out bikes up to the room. We liked the breakfast included with the stay at Betty’s - a cute food truck in front of the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay but the accommodations didn’t seem to reflect the price we paid.

Planning a family reunion? Want a romantic weekend getaway under the stars? Got kids who need to run and sing and play? Fountain Point is the perfect spot to relax, recreate and enjoy the company of friends and family. There's a ton of room to spread out, and the water siting on south Lake Leelanau is marvelous. Each cottage has its own personality, and there are ones to fit a wide variety of needs. Truly a distinct and special spot in one of the most spectacular counties in the Midwest. Secret tip: The coolest place to sit on a porch for Happy Hour, or play bocce ball this side of Mackinaw Island.

We went to this resort for an outdoor wedding and it is adorable. I felt like I was in the movie Dirty Dancing. We didn't stay in one of the lake houses but it seemed like it would be a great place for a weekend family getaway during the summer. There are not many places to eat nearby...but traverse city isn't too far away.

Although I wasn't a registered guest at Fountain Point Resort I still feel it fitting to right a review because I had the most idyllic experience visiting here last week. It was my day off and I had just left the doctor's office. I was on my way to the town of Lake Leelanau and noticed the Fountain Point Resort sign. I've been living in Traverse City for five years and for some reason never knew about FOUNTAIN POINT RESORT until now. I wanted to check it out and went inside to inquire. The owner was having a meeting and I told him I was mesmerized by the beauty of the place and asked if I could take a look around. He was extremely accommodating and invited me to see the museum and take a walk around the grounds. I was in awe of how nostalgic the whole place was. Stunning scenery and a one of a kind hotel. If I was a Hollywood producer I would remake the film "Dirty Dancing" here or direct a classic love story on the grounds.||Beautiful, charming, serene, unique.....my gosh I was in awe of the entire property. The hotel is a historic landmark and the cabins that overlook Lake Leelanau are classic. There are so many activiites here from croquet to shuffleboard, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, rowing, swimming.....there are outdoor concerts in the summer too which are extremely popluar from what I hear. I loved the back porch and wish I could have there for an hour and relaxed while looking at the majestic lake. The location is perfect, off the beaten path but yet so close to the town of Lake Leelanau. Fountain Point Resort is a class act. I always thought the East Coast had all the one of a kind old fashioned resorts until I discovered Fountain Point Resort. I plan on volunteering here next year for the outdoor concerts because a colleague of mine who volunteers for the concerts says it's a lot of fun. If you're yearning for a one of a kind place that feels like a bygone era look no further than FOUNTAIN POINT RESORT. It's a gem of a resort which deserves to be featured in a major film.

Beautiful period resort. The building itself is nicely maintained, with the necessary modern upgrades. Sit out on the back porch over looking the fountain and lake, and imagine it's the 1890's again. Interesting library of books by the rooms, some of which are very much a product of their time. The staff are helpful and friendly. I would love to return and spend a weekend here again sometime.

Here for a wedding and was also an overnight guest. Hosting a wedding of 100+ is hard to coordinate but I wish there had been a bit better organization of the rooms. It's a beautiful property and the views are to die for. The rooms are old, with only a single plug in our room. Bed and breakfast style with a shared bathroom between 4+ rooms. There's also no AC, which during the 88* day was not the most comfortable. Staff was incredibly helpful during our stay.

The property is pretty cool. They have kayaks and canoes you can take out on the lake for no extra charge. There's a nice big back porch you can hang on and fire pits. It's probably great for families. The room in the hotel was just ok though (the bed WAS super comfortable.) It's a very old building and it shows, not necessarily in a bad way. It's almost 130 years old so there's a lot of history there. It's decent for what it is, I'm just not into it. There are only two rooms in the hotel that have a private bathroom.

Great family resort! No TVs!!! Huge game room where you can play board games to Billard, ping pong . Lots of indoor as well as outdoor games. Lots of history in pictures on the walls. Great breakfast!! Cottages are clean and have everything you need!!
