I've had a very difficult experience with Michigan Auto Recyclers.
I ordered parts for my vehicle to be shipped from Michigan to east coast, and the shipping has been extremely delayed due to mistakes and miscommunications at this business.
It was very difficult for me to receive a tracking number after my purchase. Employee's informed me they would call me back with updates, but I had to reach out half a dozen times to receive any information whatsoever. I was often told 'the computer was frozen', amongst other excuses, including an employee not knowing how to properly send an email of my receipt, and me having to guide him through the process. I did not receive any shipping information for over two weeks after I placed the order and payed nearly $1000.
Then, after my item was finally delivered to the drop off point, Michigan Auto Recyclers had made a mistake on the paperwork and the drop off location was unable to properly process the package, delaying the whole experience by nearly a week.
Dealing with this business was a huge ordeal and I can not say I’d recommended them. From a customer perspective I would hope Michigan Auto Recyclers would be willing to make things right with a partial shipping refund for the many errors and delays from their end
I came from Grand Rapids and showed up to buy a part. The lady that helped me was the kindest and most helpful I have seen in a long time. She even brought the part out and put it in my trunk. Now that's top notch service !!
Had the part I needed (or thought I needed) and shipped it fast. A couple of the plastic tabs were broken but no big deal. Part was in condition described and functions as it is supposed to. Will buy from them again if the need arises.
Oil City sales never followed thru with they said they had for my replacement starter so I someone leaning his to change the starter in my Ford f150 truck so I can have the knowledge but it's difficult thanks for whoever helped me at home. Brianna from Michigan auto recyclers heard my problem and went sympathized to the point she made a starter happen by he following day with no shop it's been cold but taken off another truck and ready for pick up the following day on no notice didn't over charge extra charge or even make money off of the part I actually see now after telling me she already had atleast 7 prior orders for parts and supplies. I am just saying a very big thank you to whomever had to step up an ego the extra mile with this woman for me and mine. All the way extended from me and mine so we can finally go home we just got our new place and long over do nessecity to or me and my beautiful teenage daughter that is so amazing and I am so proud to be her mother. Michigan auto recyclers we want to tell the world that if you need help with a situation like this or want to scrap or need refurbished parts I would call these awesome understanding people as a first choice because chances are if will be the only call you have to o make!!!!
Ordered a part for my car off eBay from these folks up in Michigan. Everything arrived as described, shipping was quick. Wheel was packaged appropriately, so as not to be damaged in transit. I'm happy with my purchase.

I would not recommend buying parts or services from this business. We called ahead for a starter for an 04 avalanche. We traveled well out of our way because they offered a considerably cheaper price than the place closer to us. When we Arrived at the shop and my husband looked at the part, he noticed the starter was for a 08 Silverado that had a Displacement on Demand engine. He inquired about that aspect of the part, worried it wouldn't work for our truck, the employee said "they're all the same"....mmmmk. we returned home with the starter and as soon as my husband tried to take the stud bolt out to install it, it fell right apart. Not to mention the nut was cross threaded right onto it. He returned to the shop same day, literally right afterwards and they wouldn't replace it!!! They told him he was a "bad customer" and didn't know what he was doing, to take his part since he bought it and go someplace else. SMH.
Guys were very helpful and professional. Had to drive from Bay City (45 min) and was well worth it just for the exceptional service. Thanks guys! See you again hopefully!

I was told they had a part I needed. I called up to verify and Chris was very helpful. He verified they had the part and explained to me the process. I did the two hour drive up there. He explained his guys were removing a part for another customer and after that they would get to mine. In a reasonable amount of time they were back with my part. I paid what we agreed upon ahead of time and was on my way.
As others have described, they were very friendly, reasonable in how long I had to wait, and the price was very fair.
I would definitely do the drive again if they had a part I needed.
I called this business and found the person on the phone to be rude. The entire interaction was subpar from the very start. The end of this call was him saying, "Why are you even calling?" Then immediately hangs up the phone, all because I was told a cheaper price elsewhere after he quoted me $200 more than the price I was told by the tire shop the day before.
I was not rude. I'm just not a mechanic and I can't give information I do not know you need.
This used to be a nice place to go. I've been there in the past.
I was waiting for this opportunity to leave a review so I ordered a throttle body for a 1995 Buick Lesabre and wouldn't you know it they sent the wrong one so I took pictures showing them that it was the wrong one. I requested a refund i was told to return the throttle body so I sent it back just as it was sent to me . Finally I received an email stating that they were sending me a partialrefund payment so when I asked why they stated that it was damaged when they received it which was one of the biggest lies that could have ever been told I returned it just as it was sent to me but that's cool if this company is that thirsty for a few dollars then I suggest to a lot of you please be careful when shopping with these people especially when returning items back for a refund!
Do not buy or use this place. My vehicle broke down and I'm homeless living in my van . The alternator I needed for my van the church helped pay for it then when I went there to get it they were rude and told me to go somewhere else they ripped off the church and won't give them back any money. Very very bad business do not go here the guy Chris is very very unproductive
I really liked the honesty on the quality of their stock the prices are competitive when it came down to actual purchase I ended up at a place just about 100 miles closer to home.
I purchased a used headlight assembly for my 1996 Mercury Cougar. The headlight assembly is in excellent condition. I am very happy with this item and the seller. I got burned by other sellers selling the same item with inaccurate descriptions. They would typically describe the item as much better condition than it was when I received the item. When I reached out to this seller for additional information, they responded promptly, honestly, and accurately. I would not hesitate to do business with this seller again. 2 thumbs up!!!
Bought a transmission for my 77 Grand Prix and not only was the price fair but the people were fantastic. Top notch customer service. We live 2 hours away but we will be repeat customers
Purchased Northstar engine and was promised the head gaskets were good but they were blown...installed one day after the warranty, so no refund...what a waist of $1300 ...$610 for the engine..$700 for installation..smh...
We bought a cylinder head. It showed up on time and in immaculate condition. They were amazing to work with. They will definitely be our first call when doing more engine work.
I contacted this company on 2/28/20. I have been looking for a black driver side sun visor for my vehicle. The listing read BLK but there were no pictures, so I sent an inquiry. They assured me they would ship me a Black sun visor. So I sent an email asking if I could return if they shipped something other than black and their response was
"Yes, I will ensure we only send you black." The item I received on 3/5/20 is pictured below. I am awaiting a response because they were closed by the time I got home and opened the box. I am only following the directions they sent and leaving a review. Depending on their response I may change the 2 stars to something more. I received prompt response from Oil City Auto Salvage. They promptly refunded the cost of the item and will be looking for a black sun visor when they return to location tomorrow. Excellent that they are taking their off time to refund and let me know that they will do everything to resolve the mistake. They have gone above and beyond to remedy even while they are away from work. This is a quality that is missing in today's world!
My favorite salvage in the Tri cities. The customer service and patience they had with me were great. Being a woman I often get talked down to when at a salvage yard but not Oil City. Chris was so professional and understanding.
