We've been bringing all of our vehicles to Okemos Marathon for several decades. They are honest, transparent, they know what they are doing, and they are in every way wonderful to work with. They don't do anything extra in order to make it easier for them and for them to earn extra money. They just find out what is wrong and give you the various options you have to get it fixed.
We recently brought our 20-year-old adaptive van to them because it was making a strange noise. They gave us two options - one that would fix the problem but might need more attention in the future, and another option that cost a lot more but that we felt more confident in taking. We took the more expensive fix - Mike really tried to steer us toward the cheaper fix - and we're happy with our choice. It's still better financially than buying a new van. We're nursing this one along, hoping that it lasts another 10 years (I know!). Anyway, I love working with Mike. He's so honest and straightforward; he gives us all of the information we need to make an informed decision and then goes ahead and does what we request him to do. Including - sometimes he just tells us flat out that there is nothing to worry about and sends us home without doing any work on our vehicle at all. I've never been disappointed. I'm a real fan.
We were traveling across the state with our boat. We ended up losing a wheel bearing on our boat trailer. Don came to the rescue within 15 minutes and had us back on the road within 2 hours. You are the MVP Don!! Thanks again!

I took my car to Midas after they told me it needed multiple repairs — brakes, struts, wheel alignment, and more — totaling nearly $3,000. I decided to get a second opinion before committing to such an expensive repair.
I then went to Okemos Marathon just to have the brakes fixed. After inspecting my car, they honestly told me that my brake pads and the rest of the braking system were completely fine and that nothing needed repair.
I was honestly amazed by their honesty. I even asked about the other issues I had been told about, and they confirmed there were no problems.
I truly appreciate their integrity and transparency — it saved me a lot of unnecessary expense and stress. God bless their business I recommend this place

I have been a customer of Okemos Marathon for the past 30+ years. I have absolute trust in the team there. They have consistently cared for our vehicles without EVER taking advantage of us. Mike and the crew are the BEST.
We were pretty sure we knew what was wrong and had ordered the part to fix it. We asked them to change the oil and checked to see if there was any other issues we'd missed. They checked, and we hadn't. We went on a long road trip over Christmas break with zero issues.
Last visit we came concerned about transmission issues, and they replaced a $12 part and sent us home.
I'm grateful to have a repair shop I can trust to listen, and fix our old vehicles only in ways that actually need fixing!
After getting a quote of $856 for a front brake job I called Okemos Marathon.
They did it for $300 less, the same day.
Mike made me feel comfortable with his explanations of work done and the costs involved.
They are handling any auto work I will need in the future.

Called to ask how much/if they could do something. Nobody answered at first, left a voicemail. He then called back and said “i’m returning your call” “can i help you”. He was then very short with me and very rude. Hung up before i could even say thank you or anything. Was also trying to charge me $200 to run a Scan. Very glad i called before i brought my vehicle here!!
This station treats you the way you want to be treated: with respect, courtesy, and honesty, and they do good work. Our car had a problem that could have been anything, up to a failed transmi$$ion. We wouldn't have known the difference. Turned out it needed a new ignition coil, cost just $205, and they made the repair promptly and honestly, and we're back on the road. Thanks, Okemos Marathon!
I had a screw in my tire and wanted to keep it as local as I could on the repair. They fixed it right on the spot and I was on my way.

I came in for a transmission fluid and engine oil change. I wasn't told in advance that they couldn't change my car's transmission fluid. I went there because they had a lower price than other places, but I ended up paying a higher price for only the engine oil. The staff was friendly.
Very good experience although I needed repairs I not willing to commit to at the present time. However, Mike and the team at Okemos Marathon were very busy. This. Is a sign of a good business to me. Mike and the team went to work evaluating my car and called me back in good time for me to make decisions about next steps regarding my car. I really appreciated the quick service!
I thought the price was fair, Mike did a good job of communicating, I think they even cleaned my dash, and the quality of work is in a so far so good status. 👍
My vehicle suddenly died on a Thursday evening without any signs that something was wrong. It was towed to Marathon that night and the next day I learned that it needed a new starter. Although they were down an employee, they fixed my vehicle the next day Friday and even stayed late to do so, well past 5 pm so I could have it for the weekend to take my daughter to some appointments. I never expected that, and was so grateful. I will definitely use them again for any future problems. The kindness and service you just don’t see in this day and age.
I’ve gotten many services done here over a few years. Everyone who works here is extremely kind and respectful, and I’ve never felt like they tried to push anything I didn’t need. They do their best to be fair by me and always take great care of me! I have brought 2 cars here now, and I plan to keep coming back!
Always a good experience. Great people. Everything is done up to safety. I have a lawn business. Multiple vehicles. They will show and tell you honest options if worth the price. I recommend to anyone locally. They also have decent prices to fill your gas tank
Very pricey and try to add more work than what I wanted done . They Wanted to do front brakes (recently done somewhere else) because they shake when applied. And they don’t. And they told me previously the front brakes are fine. Did not tell them to test drive my vehicle to add more work. Did not ask them to diagnose anything. Just rear brakes and oil change. The work they did do was fine. Won’t be dealing with them again for any services
The Okemos Marathon service station was fantastic. They checked out an issue with my vehicle, explained everything clearly, and only repaired what was absolutely needed. They were friendly and quick with their repairs. I was very happy with the work they did on my vehicle and will return in the future.
I've had a few issues with my Explorer, and Mike and his team always took great care of me... They even replaced the engine when I had a major issue, and now it runs like new. They also recommended trustworthy places for repairs they couldn't handle, like AC issues.... The prices are reasonable for the quality of work. Good local mechanics 👍
They towed a car of mine and found a warranty that paid for over $7,000 in parts and labor. They do great work and have awesome bedside manner when it comes to customer service.
