Wonderful people. It was my first time here and they helped me unload and walked me through the process. Very polite. Office personnel also extremely helpful. I would recommend them over Padno’s where I got no help whatsoever and was treated as if I was stupid.

Super friendly and helpful. First few times doing something new is scary and confusing but everyone was nice and very helpful. Plus free money doesn't hurt.

Scott and his team went above and beyond to give me a hand with a problem I had with my trailer. Good people.

For semis you're gonna want to take center st from Oakland Ave heading south. Docks can be extremely tight depending on what door you get. Do not come down from Grand River

Great place for all your scrap metal recycling needs. They also offer confidential document shredding at a fair price! ($5 for first box, $3 for each additional bix of documents) Check them out if in Lansing!

Friendly, accommodating, and no nonsense. Everyone was helpful even though what I had was small potatoes compared to the heart of their business.

As a complete newbie to the process of dropping off scrap, I was welcomed like a part of the family in every step. I got on site and had no clue where to go(that would be the ONLY improvement, better signage to show where to go when you get there) so I called. I was transferred to the scales and was told where to start. After getting weighed and checking in, I was sent to gate 2 where I was greeted by 3 very nice and welcoming gentlemen. They guided me while backing up to the bay, chatted with me while unloading and one guy even helped taking a few screws out of my aluminum siding so I could be paid more for it. After being weighed again I was told to go to the "Materials Purchasing" office directly across the street where a very nice lady printed out a receipt and gave me instructions on how to get my cash. Friedland is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and I will not hesitate to take more scrap metal to them!!!

This place makes scrapping easy, quick, and painless. I'm always in and out within minutes. Pay fair rates for scrap. Highly recommend.

Way better than PADNOS and much friendlier staff. Easy to figure out. Local Business (unlike PADNOS). Awesome scrap mural inside.

Open to the public on Wednesdays Friendly, efficient, professional, fast. $5 per "banker box" / copier size box. (And you can KEEP your boxes if you want!) Remember to bring cash or check as debit and credit cards aren't accepted. Great way to get your documents securely shredded!

This was my first time at Friesland and everyone was great. I was expecting a simple drop off location and drove around the block a couple times, unsure what to do. All you have to do is get in line for the scale and let them know you're new. Everyone gave clear directions and told me what the next step was. It's easy for companies that get a lot of repeat customers to expect you to know the process. Friedland has a good balance of efficiency and accommodating newcomers.

I'm not a professional scraper, so I have no idea how their prices compare, but their staff has always been friendly and they've always made it very quick and easy for me to get rid of my junk.

Just dropped off some shredding. I had never been here before so I wasn't sure how it worked. (You may want to put instructions on your website.) There are two Friedland buildings, and I didn't know where to go. I pulled up to the one building and the guy there helped me. He was very friendly and helpful. If he is an example of all your staff, you're doing a great job. For those new to Friedland, Google Maps will take you to the office. Don't listen to it. Go to the nearby drop-off collection building across the street. They will take the material and give you a receipt. You take that to the office to pay your bill. Thanks again, Friedland guy for your kindness!

Friedland makes it easy to recycle your metal. You separate your steel from your aluminum and copper into a couple of bins beforehand. Then you drive your car with your load across the scales, then dump your steel. Then they reweigh your car. Lastly, you toss your non-steel metals into grey bins and they sort it, and give you credit for the weight of each. Then, you go to the office, and scan your receipt where an ATM spits out cash. You can recycle your steel food cans (washed), old electrical appliances like furnaces, motors and dryers, old motorcycle parts, bare steel and aluminum wheels. We cleaned out our garage, and earned enough to pay for the disposal fees for the remaining old wood, plastic, and construction materials.

Fantastic place for getting rid of everything from computers and electronics to cardboard to scrap metal. Very easy to use. Great staff. And you drive away knowing your scrap is being recycled and not land filled!

I had heard that they buy autos for scrap, so I called and they explained everything to me and were very informative and polite. When I arrived, told them I had never been there before and literally everyone I had contact with was quite helpful. I never once thought that I was being a bother and the customer service/ friendliness was A1 and that means a lot to me.

Friedland Industries is an outstanding company that serves our community greatly! By taking a tour of the facility, I have learned so much and understand better the process of recycling/repurposing goods. Additionally, the family has been very involved in the community and supportive of so many people and events. Old Town and Lansing are better off because of Friedland. Thank you!

Friedland Industries is a solid business partner that serves as a valuable community resource offering reliable and friendly service. The organization provides extensive services that support local residents and businesses alike. As the Executive Director at Habitat for Humanity Lansing, I rely on Friedland Industries to manage our scrap metal and shred sensitive documents. I would not hesitate to recommend Friedland Industries and I would encourage people to explore the solutions that they offer.

Friedland Industries provides incredible service. From answering questions with a smile, unloading and lifting items out of my vehicle without hesitation, to quick and efficient payment for my scrap. It's the best center to go to. The facility is as clean as a recycling facility can be, and everyone is friendly and ready to help.

I cannot say enough good things about Friedland Industries. My experiences with them have been only positive and I would highly recommend! If you are looking for a scrap and recycling business, you will find Friedland to be a quality and ethical place and I would imagine after going to them once, you will continue to return for a long time to come. They have a long-standing history in the community (it is a family-owned business that has been operating in Lansing since the late 1800's) and the owners take their work seriously, uphold the highest quality standards and value their clients. Check them out if you have recycling and scrap needs!

In the heart of Lansing’s Old Town resides an amazing family owned business, Friedland Industries, Inc. All it takes is one visit to the scrapyard or a brief interaction with the staff or Bass family and you will quickly see why this company is still going strong after a 100 years in business. As an artist, I’ve had the pleasure in participating in an exciting event called Scrapfest all seven years of its existence. Without the sponsorship of Friedland, this event would not be possible. Not only does this event give artists a chance to showcase their talent, it gives directly back to the Old Town community. Friedland donates scrap to artist teams (material that they have already purchased) to complete sculptures that are then auctioned off at the Scrapfest event. Proceeds from the auction help support the Old Town Commercial Association, as well as a generous portion to the artist(s). They actually have five pieces on display both inside and outside of the office facility, which means they have actually bought the same scrap twice, just in different forms. Many companies talk a big game of environmental and community responsibility, Friedland Industries actually lives it out. In addition to Scrapfest, I have also had the pleasure of recycling and selling scrap to Friedland. Growing up in Lansing, I have driven by the yard probably thousands of times. It wasn’t until 2009 that I actually stepped into the yard for my first Scrapfest collection. Since that time, I have recycled and sold everything from my full size truck, car batteries, bikes, and trampoline springs. No matter the size of the load, all the staff at Friedland are beyond friendly and eager to help. If you have any recycling to do, or scrap to sell, I strongly encouraged a trip to Friedland Industries. You will not be disappointed. Andrew D. Sandstedt Artist and Owner, Artistic Design Services

I had a great experience with Friedland Industries! The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. I truly appreciated their patience with me as I really had no clue about the process. I will most definitely be using Friedland's services again.

The folks at Friedland are great! I've worked with them on a number of community events (Scrap Fest, Document Destruction Day, Scrappy Bike Racks) and they are true community professionals. Recently, we had some petrochemicals dumped into the Grand River just upstream of the Brenke Fish Ladder - the entire Friedland crew jumped into action to make sure that it wasn't coming from their site and then helped LPD and others figure out where the likely source was of the illegal dumping. (They even gave a cool tour of their site so that we could confirm that it wasn't coming from them - and it wasn't.) I've also sold some scrap metals to Friedland and I appreciate how carefully they follow all of the rules and regulations. You might not think of them as part of the environmental community, but they are. Reduce, reuse and recycle! Julie Powers Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council
