I’ve only ever taken my car here when emergency repairs are necessary. I very much prefer using mechanics in WI. Twice now they have broken something they received in working condition during the repair of something in its vicinity. They don’t disclose it and when I finally figure it out what they broke they want to charge hundreds of dollars to return it to how it was when I brought it in. I do not recommend them if you have limited car knowledge, they will do you dirty. Edit: After reading the other reviews I will be submitting a consumer complaint with the MI Attorney General.

Dave's Super Service really saved the day! While traveling the Keweenaw our vehicle got a flat tire. I called ahead to check the shops availability. They patched our tire at 5:50pm on a Friday in June. I was in a tough spot & they made it easy! SHOUT-OUT out to Leo & Logan for the TOP NOTCH service!!

Brought my 2008 BMW in last Thursday (9-18-25) for diagnosis on driver side headlight that went out. The daytime running light and parking light were still functioning, and the housing of the headlamp was still intact. Six hours after dropping the vehicle off, Dillion the mechanic called to inform me that they found bad wiring in headlamp and recommended total replacement. I told him to hold off on repair and get estimate for possible repair at later date. I picked the car up just before 4pm that day. As soon as I drove off, the warning came on the dashboard that the daytime running lamp was NOT working, as well as the parking light. Immediately pulled over the road and popped the hood - to my amazement, the entire headlamp assembly was totally apart, open, and the lamp was disconnected. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! I immediately called the shop and was informed that the mechanics had left for the day. Left a message for Dillion to call me back the next day. Dillion called on Friday and I explained what happened. To my amazement, he said "that's the way you brought the car in" I was was amazed at his denial of responsibility, and I insisted that the car was NOT brought in in that condition. His suggestion: "Well its probably going to cost $$$ thousands of dollars to fix wiring and circuits, BMWs are expensive cars to work on, given the year and the mileage, perhaps you should not invest any more money in the car" I asked him to provide an estimate just as well, and he promised to "research" the matter and get back - never did. I called the shop the next week and asked to speak to owner/manager - was told "he was gone for the day" this was at1pm. I asked who the manager/owner was - she indicated "Justin" I left my name and number and subject matter of call. Never heard back - attempted many times to call back. Kept getting message "The caller is not accepting calls at this time" had a friend try the number on his phone - his call went through. and was answered.........???????

When I lost two tires on my camper, Dave's Super Service was the only one open late. I called ahead and they happily fixed my tires and had me back on the road very quickly.

Dave's super service certainly lives up to its name! Was a long way from home when my car broke down. Called these guys up. Right from the start, nothing but professionalism. The young lady on the phone was patient with me, found my location, and sent a flatbed to pick me and my vehicle up. The tow truck was there promplty, the tow driver, a young man was polite and professional with me. I had my 90lb dog with me, he said toss her up in the truck it's no problem. So away we went back to the shop. Upon arival, they even helped me find a local taxi service to get me to a hotel. Not once did any of their employees make me feel like I was a burden. I would recommend Dave's Super Service to anyone the quality of service this shop and all its employees provided me is rare to find now a days. In fact if I lived in that area I'd take all my vehicle needs to them.

Dave's left a 4 inch long scratch in the leather on my steering wheel and denied responsibility without so much as an apology. Their reasoning was that because they were changing my tires, they would not have been inside my car. As if they did not have to get in my car to drive it. While they may have been the cheaper option in town for tires, their customer service was terrible, and they damaged my car (that's on a lease).

I have heard great things about this shop but unfortunately experienced poor customer service regarding a faulty part and/or incorrect installation. I ended up having to get the car fixed at another shop, they notified me of this issue, so I had to replace the same wheel bearing not even 3 months later after Dave’s fixed it. Called several times to get an answer on what could be done to reimburse me for this error with no returned phone calls or solution. Disappointed to say the least, as I spent $1400 in service there, and couldn’t even get reimbursed for probably a $100 part.

We have had to take our car in several times for various things over the last few years and Dave's has been absolutely amazing. It's so nice to know there's a place you can trust to just be honest and do a great job and not overcharge. Dave's is always polite, honest, timely, and cost effective. I really can't recommend them enough and we are so grateful to have them in our community.

I’ve heard great things from this place! And I would truly recommend it to people who need an average car repair done. But personally with my experience I was not satisfied, as I was completely out of state, traveling here for a trip when my car ended up needing a necessary repair. And every single auto repair place except Lakeside Auto said that they were busy, backed up, and that I would have to wait several days to two weeks for them to check out my situation. I could have been stuck in literally Michigan for up to two weeks. I understand why they triage their cars this way; it’s fair to those who have been waiting two weeks already for their repair. But I have to feel that there is sometimes an element of urgency, right? Surely a hospital wouldn’t tell a bleeding man that he has to wait 2 weeks to be seen. Anyways I really don’t want to seem like some angry reviewer. This place was unanimously recommended to me by several friends from the area; it’s just that it didn’t help my situation.

I have been here many times to have my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix repaired while I was in college and every time I have excellent service and experience. I credit Dave's for having Scarlet be able to get to 400,000 miles! I have moved out of Hancock and I was visiting and had hit a rail. Scarlet was in pretty bad shape and I was really shaken up about it (first time in a fender bender). I was 9 hrs from home and by myself. They were able to fix her up enough that day to have her hobble back downstate. I am extremely grateful to the team there and I wish I could have them where I currently live now! Five stars isn't a high enough score.

We were visiting the area from MN when we realized our vehicle needed tires badly. My husband called and they were able to get us in within an hour, and the price was super reasonable. Great customer service, and we’ve never had that kind of care. They don’t even know how good they are because they didn’t even know how to accept a tip. Businesses could learn a thing or two from them. Highly recommend!!!

Damaged my tire on transfer between a steel rim and my car's, causing a bulge to develop later on old (2017) but unused tires. Refunded me for only mounting and balancing the single tire, $25, losing around $140 altogether. The mechanics there are very young, when I went back for the refund, the guy working the tire changer couldn't have been much older than 15.

We had to get a new starter on our minivan. They got it in and repaired it fast and at a great price. Unfortunately, the was an issue and the repair failed quickly. The great thing is that Dave's paid for the second repair that we had to have done (we had to have it done at another shop since the van died in the Detroit area). No argument at all. I would still go to them in the future for repairs.

Dave’s is amazing. I was driving in a car I just bought and got a flat. They were there quickly and very up front with the options I had. They got my car fixed and ready to go the very next morning. 10/10 recommend!

Dave’s shop highly recommended. We broke down in Copper Harbor and he was able to tow are truck and repaired next day. Great service and fair repair cost! We love Michigan ? Thank you!

Dave's has worked on my daughter's vehicle twice. Both times seemed to be transmission issues. We live 500+ miles away, while our daughter goes to Tech. Dave's not only diagnosed and repaired her vehicle on the day of the appointment, they were honest and the repairs were extremely reasonably priced. It turned out to be small fixes, and they did just what was required to get her back on the road. No up-selling, completely honest, efficient service. They even provided education to our young lady so she learns more about her car. Very grateful there is a shop we can trust when we are so far away!

I just really want to say, you guys are great. I had my car serviced 3 times for the same thing and not one of them times, was my brakes actually fixed, as a matter of fact, it added and create other problems with my car. The minute I got my car back from you guys it was a whole new experience. And I feel a lot more secure with my car this winter than last year for sure. Thank you.

My wife and 6 kids and I were stranded with a flat tire, broken rim and badly damaged brake line after an incident about 10 miles outside of Hancock/Houghton. I was able to change to my spare tire but couldn’t do anything about the leaking brake fluid. So after a quick phone call, they had someone set out to tow our vehicle (I think the son of the owner) and in less than an hour we were already on the road to Hancock. He was very accommodating, and made space for half of us while the other half of us followed in our other car. On the way, he discussed where we might stay in the meantime and gave great recommendations on where to go, and even dropped us off right at the hotel. After a little while, he said he had checked out the issue and needed to special order a part, but he got the order in just in time to receive it around noon the next day. After we checked out of the hotel, we weren’t sure how long it would take to fix it or how much it would cost, but knew there was potential for it to be well over $1,000. We decided to head over to the shop and wait for a little bit, and right around noon we received a phone call that it was ready. After everything was said and done, we were only charged $350 for the fix and the tow combined, and were incredibly thankful for the entire experience. These guys were incredible all across the board and we appreciate the care and empathy they showed all throughout our encounter. A++

UPDATE 2: It has been several weeks since I called about my rim being scratched up when I watched the young man place it face down on the garage floor before checking the back of the tire for leaks. I was anticipating some sort of follow up on how this issue was going to be resolved, never heard anything, I’ve also tried calling several times. I’m not sure if I’m calling at inconvenient times, but I have not been able to make contact with an actual person. Disappointing because the staff was so friendly and hardworking. I’m changing my review to one star because apparently if I want my rim returned to the condition it was in before it got laid face down on the garage floor, I’m going to have to pay for that out of my own pocket. UPDATE: What I thought was dirt from hands and tools, is actually scratch marks from when they laid the rim face down on the garage floor. I called today and it sounds like the situation is going to be handled appropriately. I’m still upset as I take pride in my vehicle. I was impressed yet again that it wasn’t just immediately dismissed. If you are from the area or find yourself in the area and need a tow, work done or gas, go to Dave’s!!!! The tow truck driver was the absolute nicest person ever! He went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and able to make it home that night. The guys in the garage were all super polite and hard working, bouncing between the garage and the full service gas pumps. With out a complaint. So, thank you Dave’s for taking care of me and making sure I got home safe! And bonus points for not being scared of a foreign car!!!!

My boyfriend and I had planned a trip up north. He and I broke up so I decided to go alone. I was just outside of Houghton when my car broke down. I had my car towed to Dave's and, despite how insanely busy they were, they looked at my car so that I'd have an idea of the issue. They let me sit in their lobby for 5 hours waiting for someone from back home to get me, charge my phone, and cry despite making other people uncomfortable. They also gave suggestions on good places to eat within walking distance. Not the best day, week, month but they were all genuinely kind and helpful.

Dylan came all the way north of Copper Harbor where 41 ends down a dirt road to come help me get my spare tire on. We couldn't get it dropped from under my truck. He was amazing! Very friendly, polite and professional. He even took my tire back to the shop even though they were closed at the time to patch my tire! This all on the Sunday of memorial weekend. I can not say how much I appreciate all the help! 10 out of 10 recommend! Thank you Dylan

I had a detailed list of 14 annoying issues with my truck that had slowly piled up and had me feeling like my truck was falling apart. I dropped my truck off, they had me text them the list, they called me up with a quote, fixed almost all of them that day (because I told them I had a small budget till pay day) for half the price I thought it would be, gave me a detailed breakdown of everything and what exactly was wrong with the two things they didn’t do. They had it done in a few hours and I picked my truck up that day. The office staff was straightforward and easy to deal with. I am beyond impressed at how much this place runs like a well oiled machine. Communication was great. I probably wont ever use another place. Its like I have a new vehicle.

We had a break down while very off grid camping in Copper Harbor, these guys were quick and brave enough to come to our campsite to haul our Yukon to a repair shop. They were awesome and didn't charge us an arm and a leg. Will definitely recommend them!

On vacation and had a flat tire on a Friday night. They arrived in 15 minutes after I called AAA and changed tire for me. They also took my tire and I went to their shop Saturday morning and it was repaired by 9 am. All staff we very friendly and polite. Great weekend service!! Keep it up!

Dave's Marathon is an honest and recommendable garage and towing service. I will use them again in future. That being said I will not give them five stars. My car broke down on Sunday night, first thing Monday morning I called to have my car towed to their garage to be repaired while I got a ride to work. I got home after five pm to find my car still sitting where I had left it. I called Dave's to find out why they had not picked it up yet and from what I can tell they plain forgot. But after calling this second time they were here in less than twenty minutes. Now Tuesday early afternoon I called to see if they knew why my car would not start and they still had not looked at it. A few hours later they called back, gave me a diagnostic and a price estimate for parts, labor, and towing fee. Wednesday early afternoon my car was ready and running better than it has in months. And the total bill was exactly what they had given as an estimate. Dave's is fair and honest but I did have to wait two and a half days for my car to be repaired.
