I go here for everything from oil changes to check engine lights they are probably sick of seeing me. Great bunch of people, very honest and the work done on my car is great too.
I broke down on 84 east. Jason was able to get me back on the road the same day. He was very knowledgeable and honest. I thought my car was going to need major repairs but it turned out to be a quick fix. I will definitely be returning for any future maintenance.
My car engine started overheating while I was in traffic on my way to work. I happened to be down the road and saw they had good reviews. They looked at my car right away, ran a diagnostic, refilled the coolant, and even swapped me for the coolant I bought at the gas station up the street. They were so nice and honest and incredibly helpful. Absolutely recommend!

We were driving from NY to Maine in a storm this weekend and our check engine light came on along with AWD being disabled. We stopped at John’s to ask them to check the warning thinking it was the gas cap so AWD could be reactivated. He was so helpful and even though he was super busy, he shared with us that he had already seen several 2017 Rav 4s like ours that had the same emissions issue. He showed me what the part looked like and how it was failing and then encouraged me to make a smoke test appt at my local mechanic. I couldn’t be more grateful for their help in figuring out what might be wrong with our car on such a busy day for them. Would 100% entrust my cars with them if we lived closer! Incredible service. Had an oil leak didn't know where it was coming from, the guys took it in, found a hairline fracture in the oil pan and had it replaced within a day AND at a good price and communicated well the whole time.
My son's car broke down on a Sunday and got towed to John's. By Monday afternoon they had diagnosed the problem and communicated the problem with me. They had the repairs completed Tuesday. The price was about half of what I was expecting
ExcellentWe moved to Charlton in 1985. My entire family and now grand kids have used John s Auto Service in Charlton for many years. His shop does magnificent work and very fair pricing. In today s world is hard to find. We highly recommend this facility.
My family and I got stranded on Sunday because my older 2013 Ford F150 truck (100K mi) Check Engine light was flashing and running super rough making my truck undriveable as I was worried I was doing more damage.
The AAA tow drivers knew John and immediately recommended him so I had my truck towed to John's Auto. The next day pretty early in the AM John told me what causes the Check Engine light to flash (misfires) and temporarily fixed it for $50 telling me what I should do in future to ensure it works more reliably (new solenoid electical connectors re-soldered). Truck runs fine now and I was pretty impressed at how fast they fixed it. I'd recommend Johns Auto to anyone that gets stranded in that area!
I was sent here by my tire guy for an alignment job and came away extremely pleased. They are the alignment pros! Price was right and the car now performs better than ever. It took only 45 minutes (I had an appointment) and plan to go back with my wife's car when she gets her new tires. So glad that my tire guy sent me here!
Update 10/18/23: John’s Auto has now been my family’s mechanic for over 3 years. Tending to our 3 cars, 2 with high miles, John is always friendly, professional, and his work & prices are excellent. Still highly recommend John’s Auto!

John was recommended to me by AAA Premiere as their preferred service provider. I’m new to the area and didn’t have an established mechanic here yet. I do now! John was amazing! He called me within a couple hours of my vehicle being towed to him to tell me what was wrong and had the estimate ready for me. My car was completed within 24 hrs of arriving at John’s Auto and for not a penny more over the estimate I approved! John called when he said he would, is professional, friendly and very thorough. I’m beyond pleased in my dealings with him and will be using him for all of our vehicles going forward.
Nate was the mechanic that worked on my car and put in a new starter after my car wouldn’t start. Price was fair and he was extremely professional. Cannot say enough good things. Also got it done in record time when other shops were gonna take weeks. Highly recommend!

Told my girlfriend she needed to replace the whole wiring connector that hooks up to the coil pack no u don’t he wants a 150$ get out of here the part is 30 bucks from Toyota
We were 6 hours from home, traveling to our vacation destination when we started having car trouble. AAA towed our car to this shop. The shop was closed for the weekend, but we were promptly taken care of when they opened on Monday. I'm so thankful they even kept my car for the remainder of the week while we enjoyed our vacation with a rental car. Jon's Auto made a horrible situation easier for us! Thank you.
Called the morning after getting my car towed, they were able to diagnose the problem and recommend a battery replacement so I wouldn’t have problems down the road. They kept me updated via phone call every step of the way, I will definitely be going here for future car maintenance and repairs.
The big guys here are trustworthy and know their stuff. Suprisingly soft spoken and a pleasure to talk to. I got a nail puncture in my tire while on vacation and every service center near my hotel was booked til next week. These guys heard about my issue on the phone, told me to roll in, and I was ready for the road <25 mins later. They charged me less than expected and effectively saved my vacation. I drove 6hrs that same day with no issues. Didnt see other tourists here so it's a bit of a local gem. Highly recommend this place and wish my repair guy back home was this good.

The service here is top-notch. John and his staff have always done their best with our vehicles. Honesty is key for us, and they have never misled. We left my husbands van off giving instructions on how the engine light and problem of not being able to drive above 10 miles an hour happens when the van is warmed up. We get a call saying pick up the van I drove it ten miles and it didn’t come on. So we go and pick up the van and guess what.... we don’t even live 3 miles away and the van shuts down into safe mode and the engine light is on. Awful experience at this garage
