Just about the nicest guys, gave them a call less than an hour before they closed to get a tire plugged. They got me right in, came in with just the tire, they got it plugged in about 5 minutes, I offered to put the tire back on my car to not waste any more of their time and they instead got my car on the jack, put the tire back on and topped all my tires off with air. Could not ask for a better service.
Over the years, I've gone here 4 or 5 cars long--a couple of Volvo's and Saab's worth! They are expert and knowledgeable about cars. I have consistently received clear and logical explanations of what was wrong and how it was fixed. Prices are fair and I always got a call if a job turned out to be bigger--before I committed to spending the money. I am grateful to feel trust in their word and work. It's rare to feel like you wouldn't want to go anywhere else. A friend w/a Saab who swore by ABJ referred me to them 15 or so yrs ago. After he moved to NYC he STILL brought his car from NY so he could go to them. That speaks volumes and now I know why--I'd do the same.
Lazy mechanic and crocodiles . They over charged for some little stuffs please be careful with them only care about your Debit, Credit Card, Cash not cars. Very stupid place to bring your cars there.

Despite the drab new building on Mystic Ave, if you like me still own a Saab, this is a good repair option. These guys are no-nonsense mechanics and usually have good tips for your Saab when you have some unique annoying issue that is inherent to Saabs. The prices are comparatively fair. My former dealer (Herb Chambers) have no more Saab mechanics, so ABJ is it and thank heavens they are fair and usually fast with their service options. If you don't mind walking for 10 minutes, the Orange Line is in Assembly Row to get you home, or take Uber/Lyft.
My go to when the car warranty has expired. I have used ABJ on almost all my cars since 2003. Audi, Subaru, BMW, Honda, Toyota each time no mess, no fuss, all plus.
Honestly this place has changed. There was a new manager or mechanic that is taking charge. There is no longer any women mechanics or owners. Aka they tried to RIP me off and they did. Ive had work done here 3 or 4 times before and I would come and they would check my car and then give me a fair quote. This time the new guy belittled and really made me feel uncomfortable. I told them that I needed my ac compressor replaced and that I would bring the part (what another mechanic recommended since I have a old car 1995). The guy said that was like bringing in your own food to a restaurant. Then he quoted a 500 dollar bill to just install the compressor. All the other 3 mechanics I called said that price was ridiculous. The guy said they would charge you a minimum of 95 dollars to look at your car. He looked at it for a total of 4 minutes = I timed him on my cell. He came back and said I'll charge you only half an hour...basically DONT COME HERE. I paid the money and left. I went with another mechanic from yelp. Wish they hadn't changed their values.
Didn't honor original quote and fee for service was about 75% higher than the highest of the 3 quotes I received from other local shops after the deal was finished. Parts fee was over 300% higher than if I purchased it from advanced auto parts. My mistake for not demanding a written quote prior to service.

They fixed the rotting rear shock mounts on my 2001 SAAB 9-3 in a day, which required grinding, welding, mechanical and painting.

I feel bad giving them a bad review since everyone else is so positive, but I was really not very satisfied with my experience. I took my car in because it seemed like my breaks felt weird, like they might have been off but I wasn't sure (I had been living elsewhere where it wasn't so hilly and wasn't sure if that was causing the different feel). So I took it in, told them this, and when I came back it felt exactly the same. I do believe they did what they said (adding break oil I think), but it didn't fix the issue which is the point of taking one's car in. There was another minor issue they did fix, though a month or so later it was back to not working again.
Absolutely honest. They care about their work and their customers. I am recommending this shop with confidence. The cost is very reasonable. Thank you!
Honest and smart. I've had my car towed to Abj from other mechanics a coupe of times, and ended up paying a fraction of what the other guys wanted to charge.
I have been going to ABJ since I first bought a car in Boston 15 years ago. They have been awesome. The owner, Al, died about a year ago. His daughter Mimi is now running the business, and she is every bit as knowledgeable and thinks of the mechanics as family. And she and the mechanics definitely don't assume that women are airheads.
I am very technical and I know about car mechanics a lot. Thats said, if you want a shop that knows what to do on your car go to ABJ. I have a Saab and many shops can easily screw it up, even Saab specialists. These guys are knowledgeable and they give the car the time it needs to evaluate. They also work with you on the cost of the repair, and their charges are fair.
I went to Al's twice for purchase checks on vehicles I was considering buying. Al and his crew steered me away from a terrible buy and lead me to the beauty I now own. I highly recommend ABJ for their honesty and skill; they'll do the job right, and they'll tell you the truth.
The ball joint on my truck snapped in a parking lot. I called ABJ and they cleared a lift and got my truck up right away. I said I needed it back as soon as possible. They had parts ordered before my truck was off the tow truck and ready at noon the next day. I am glad I found such a great place.
