The Buttonball is a great place to see music. The atmosphere is really charming and welcoming, with a good staff and reasonably priced drinks at the bar. We were there on a busy night and both bartenders were engaged and helpful. The food from Minnie's truck outside can't be beat. It's a perfect match for the Buttonball. They made the best crispy chicken and beef sliders I've had in years - there is a lot of care taken in the preparation of these morsels. For the beef, think of super-high-end-cuisine White Castle/White Manna. It took me back to Northern and Bell in 1974.
I went there on Halloween. It was great fun. The band was great. They had fun and interacted with everyone and they had fun too. There were many people in the group that changed costumes and preformed songs that related to their characters. I would highly recommend it. Everyone else there were enjoying the show. The vibes in there were great.
The new owners are serving up magic. It's not specifically on on the bar or food menu, but you don't have to look hard to find it. The Egremont Barn is a well crafted atmosphere that comes across as if it just happened naturally. Bring your friends, make some new ones, hang out at the fire pit with the entertainment and have a chat after most of the people have gone home. Even the bathroom is worth a little extra time just to look around.
It was a Wednesday night, open Mike night. First time there. Walked up the door that was covered in handwritten signs about not smoking weed, cigarettes, etc by the door. First impression was to leave. We walked in and found a a few tables full. The bar had a few people. Read another hand written sign that orders have to be placed at the bar. Stood there dumbfounded for a few seconds yet neither bartender welcomed us in. There was no welcome at all. Luckily the menu was out on the table. A very limited menu with half the items being burgers. Walked up to the bar and a were told we could sit anywhere yet we were still not asked if we wanted anything, not even from the bar. We sat for a few minutes but could not pick out one thing we wanted to eat or drink. We decided this experience, and staff, were not worth our money and we walked out. If you don't want service, go here. Maybe the bartenders will stop talking long enough to help you or even greet you. Hopefully the entertainment is better than anything else here. I gave them one star, first because Google makes me, but also for an bad experience I will never forget.
There should be no place on earth without a venue like this one!
Music and community at it best. A home feel barn setting with a loft and a road house --combined! The simple menu is all you need to couple up with a drink. Not to forget the Wednesday, open microphone with a grand piano, sound person, and sign-up that fills up with a full range of novice to pro singer-songwriter, life long local folk artist, and on through to world class phenoms just old enough to reach the keys! Oh, and best of all --it's poet friendly too! ~ C.C.
The Egremont Barn delivers an amazing live music experience in a rustic barn that has been elegantly restored. Food and drinks are served and there are tables and chairs inside for patrons and picnic tables outside for hanging out pre-concert. All is not perfect, however. The metal chairs at the tables are unbearably uncomfortable for a concert venue and the tap beer was served at near room temperature.
Great venue for live music. Good, reasonably priced food. Great atmosphere. Be sure to arrive early for best seats, or any seats at all if it is a popular artist (a ticket did not guarantee a seat!)
this should be # 1. first time visit Saturday night, what a place, comfortable atmosphere, and the kindest people operating this wonderful space i have EVER had the pleasure of visiting. The food was good (reasonable) drinks likewise, the band great, just everything made you feel welcome and happy. Great crowd really enjoying themselves. Good place for all, nice outside space, a most go for family, friends, dates, you name go there.THANKS to the operators
Tonight the Internet was out and it completely derailed everything and made a ton of extra work for the people who work here and they and all the patrons were all like IT'S COOL because this is a LOVELY PLACE where people are NICE TO EACH OTHER and the music and burgers are GREAT
Food was delicious, cocktails were good but limited variety of liquors and garnishes/ingredients. They had a busy weekend so they were sold out of a lot.
You order at the bar, which was busy and had a line, so it was quite a wait before you could get a drink; the kitchen staff brings food to your table. Most of the staff were super friendly (except for 1 of the bartenders, who was noticeably stressed and in a bad mood for some of the night). But again, food was amazing; I would definitely go again for the burgers and shrimp and fish tacos.
We went for the live music and had an amazing night. The venue is perfect for this sort of event and really highlights the music well. Drinks were reasonably priced and the staff was awesome. We would definitely come back here again!
Why dont more places like this exist? The Barn is my favorite new place! The music was great, and the food was way better than it needs to be. The space was SO cool and the vibe was fun and loose! If you are lucky enough to be able to make it here, you definitley should. Highly recommend.
The burgers are DELICIOUS! I had one with lettuce (from their garden) tomato special sauce and blue cheese (fresh)… Never tasted a burger like that before. The organic shredded chicken taco, with cabbage, sauce and pico de gallo ?..
Great small venue for music artists. Warm atmosphere, nice roaring fire in stone fireplace, accommodating staff, and great smokehouse barn burger. We felt welcome as travelers in this local community. Tight on tables and seating if you don't arrive early. The cover band "Dead Mans Waltz" was very good and well worth the $15 cover charge. I highly recommend this experience.
A gem of a spot to see live music. Great old barn that's set up really well for performances. Such a great vibe. In the warmer months the outside area is an ideal spot to chill on a summer evening. The world needs more places like this. Highly recommend.
Great place ! AWESOME burgers! Best veggie burger my wife's EVER had! Very comfortable atmosphere and setup. Sit inside or outside & enjoy the show cuz they have streaming video & speakers outdoors! Great atmosphere, Great folks, Great great live music what more could you want oh yeah there's farm animals to hang out with too :)
We were driving up to spend the night in Great Barrington and just happened to see strings of lights and a roaring fire pit and decided to pull in. It was their first night of welcoming back live music after the COVID shut down. Our food was delicious, the drinks were good and the live music by William Lawrence was the high point of our trip. I just wish The Barn was closer to our home in Rhode Island because I could become addicted to hearing music at this venue.
Great place. Good bands but the food is terrible. There was so much garlic in my salad l was blowing every one away. No fries with your burger even if you beg. Go for the fun not the food.
Use to love this place until they changes their food to poor quality meat and reheated fries from a bag that could have caused an antifaltic reaction. All could have been forgiven if the manager wasn't so incredibly rude and condescending. Along with the waitress who we waited 10 min. To even notice us. Not worth the drive or service. Go somewhere else where they want to keep their customers. Oh and if you do go tip yourself cause you have to get your own food and water...all she does take your order.
Cool space, nice people, decent drinks. My wife enjoyed the tacos. We appreciate that they're trying to carry local products (even though most of the western MA breweries aren't yet competitive against the best of VT, NY, and eastern MA). We only had about 30 minutes to stop in, early on a Friday evening, but we're planning to make the 45-minute drive to check them out again later this summer.
The Barn at Egremont Village Inn gives a musician hope that there are still people out there willing to make a great meeting place for live music that isn’t cookie-cutter corporate.
The sound is great. The food is very good. There are sturdy paper straws and plenty of good vibes. There was quite a diverse crowd there for a country place, and I have to believe that that is due to the very welcoming environment created by the staff.
Go, and remind yourself, or experience for the first time, what an authentic live music club experience really should be.
