Beautiful cozy atmosphere in the dining room. The host (owner?) was very friendly and made us feel right at home. One of our kids broke a glass and he made jokes while cleaning it up. It's clear that this place is a passion project. The food was delicious. Overall it's a pretty fancy place. We paid just under $200 plus tip for a family of five.

Had an absolutely wonderful birthday celebration this week at The Mill. We had a party of 9. Everything was delicious. I had the wedge salad, mushroom soup, and the grilled pork chop special with red cabbage and potatoes. Several in our party got the steak frites chicken parm, chicken with mashed potatoes. Everything was incredible. The desserts were amazing too! My fav creme brulee but the other desserts were very special. 10/10. Highly recommend.

We’ve been patrons of the old mill, aka, the mill, for over 3 decades. The owner used to be ingratiating to SOME regulars and was generally polite, if reserved, to us. On our last visit he COMPLETELY lost his temper having, perhaps, over heard our table’s private conversation which pertained to his kitchen staff’s refusal to add some onions to our salad, an ingredient we had often requested and received without incident. The owner began shouting, ordered us from the premises and even threatened to call the police, Shocking us. It was a completely hyperbolic response for one thing. For another it was an invasion of our right to free speech, misquoting what we said to one another since our voices were low. Lastly he had had our patronage, and that of our family, for decades. We were staunch in supporting this restaurant’s efforts during the worst of the pandemic. We were regular guests, known well by the former friendly staff and generous with gratuities. It’s taken us some time to respond to that night’s exposure to this unprovoked verbal assault. But finally it made sense to worn other potential diners that although this place can seem pleasant if you don’t mind up dealing with crowding, having no real handicapped access and challenging. Be forewarned that our visit ended with being bellowed at in a public forum and threatened with police action out of nowhere. In this day, it is something to consider when contemplating a simple evening out.

We always enjoy going to The Mill. We've been long time patrons for years. Terry and his staff are phenomenal. It's nice to have the lounge area to sit and enjoy cocktails and conversation with friends while waiting for a table. The overall genuine vibe has always been robust and consistent. Same goes for the food, cocktails and dessert.

The Mill is a fair establishment in Egremont, MA. Looking at the building, it has plenty of historic charm. The atmosphere was moody and rich but felt somewhat ostentatious. Dim lighting left the space dingy and had my mind on cleanliness. The staff was courteous but seemed stressed. The food was pleasant overall. While the pear and blue cheese salad was subpar, the french onion soup exceeded my expectations. It reflected a high level of care. Hats off to the chef for a piece of art. The boulevardier was tasty as well. In all honesty, I will likely not return. However, I am glad that I gave The Mill a try.

Such a great evening at The Mill last night. We walked in and were greeted by Terry, the owner, and he’s just awesome. Started with a drink at the bar. Yaomi was bartending and she was great. The drinks were fantastic! I had a New Fashioned and my wife had the hot honey which was also amazing. So good we got a second round of each, lol. if you’re into photography, keep an eye out for the gorgeous black and white prints on the walls in the bar area: they’re all from Studio 54 in the 70s, and they’re amazing. It’s a rare thing to see prints like that. You’re in for a treat. The dining room is gorgeous. I started with the onion soup gratinée (basically French onion soup) and it was probably the best I’ve ever had, no exaggeration. I had the cioppino after that and it was great, but the thing that’s still living in my head the next day is the pistachio mascarpone cheesecake for dessert. We heard a table near us talking about how amazing it was and we gave it a try. So glad we did. The Mill is a great find. We’ll definitely be back!

We went here tonight for our Anniversary. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing! We had a bottle of French wine, which was superb. I ordered the pork chop and my husband ordered the swordfish. Both dishes were excellent! For dessert we got the chocolate bread pudding and the pistachio cheesecake - both excellent! The owner was gracious and showed us around the restaurant. This was a perfect dining experience to celebrate!

I recently visited The Mill in South Egremont, and it was a truly wonderful dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, setting such a warm and welcoming tone for the evening. The ambience is fantastic—it feels sophisticated yet comfortable, with a club-like elegance that makes you want to settle in and enjoy. A huge highlight was getting to meet the chef/owner, Terry Moore. Terry is genuinely nice, and it's amazing to hear he's been serving the community for over 46 years! That kind of dedication and history shines through in the quality of the restaurant. And of course, the food was absolutely amazing! We ordered the burger and the Caesar salad with shrimp, and both were prepared perfectly. The burger was juicy and delicious, and the Caesar salad was fresh, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked flawlessly. The Mill is a must-visit spot in the Berkshires for anyone who appreciates exceptional food and incredible hospitality. Highly recommend!

My duck was as almost as dry as a jerky, the fish was tasteless. The service was a bit slow. The cocktail had a nice presentation but tasted underwhelming. Wouldn’t recommend for this price tag

We have been here 9 times, we love the location, decor and general vibe. We have had amazing meals in the past and they have been very consistent. This time we were a bit disappointed. Feel like some short cuts have been put in place. I ordered the latkes with Salmon and the latkes tasted as if they were made early and not fresh, my wife has a Berkshire pork chop that was not very thick and a bit dry. Our server was not like the others in the past. My wife asked for a substitute for the red cabbage and they offered rice. She has rice and mash double starch, we feel the server should have made a better offer, or tell us it includes rice as well. I ordered a second beer and it came at the end of our meal. We feel our server could have done more to ensure a great meal and they were not very shall I say good. The owner is very proud of this location and they underwent a refresh very cozy and the addition of couches for waiting is neat. We enjoyed the plush chairs at our table for two.

This a very elegant restaurant. Loved the atmosphere and staff is lovely. The food was excellent. It's price but well worth it particularly for a special occasion.

Wednesday night, the place was packed and deservedly so…. It was amazing. Despite being crowded, our host Terry seated us within 3 minutes. The food was amazing, the service was on point and the lounge vibe makes me want to come back soon. Thanks for a great night Old Mill.

Two words: Class Act. The owner/host Terry is a true English gentleman and the staff are wonderful. We, a group of four motorcyclists visiting from NYC, decided to have dinner here as it was close to our rental. It would be a while for a table as it was a Saturday night, but Terry offered to seat us at the “lounge” area which is a comfortable dark brown leather couch amongst the tables and made sure we were comfortable and took our drink order (New Fashioned cocktail is delicious and balanced). The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Food (creamed corn chowder, Berkshire pork chop) and desserts (coffee caramel sundae!) were outstanding. We are sure to visit again. Thank you Terry and staff for an excellent experience!

So happy Terry reopened this restaurant. The Mill has more of a lounge feel in the dining room. Menu is different from what the Old Mill was. Creative menu and still has the oysters I always get. Staff is courteous. Check it out! I highly recommend it.

From the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be special. We were greeted in the parking area with a smile and assistance with parking. Lovely flowers as you enter and a warm and inviting gentleman greets you at the host podium. No rushing, asking about our day. ? The interior is warm, cozy and you just want to linger. Cocktails- strawberry special was amazing. The cod entree was delicious. Gluten free options available. Dessert options are plentiful! You will not be disappointed!

Great service from the moment we walked in. Loved the decor and atmosphere. Dessert and appetizers were excellent. However, while a couple main courses were good the cod, mashed potatoes, & corn chowder dish was quite bland. The beer on tap was great.

Really sweet charming place. Very warm and welcoming. We were surprised how elegant the restaurant felt when we walked in because we were expecting more of a pub. The bar area is also small, atmospheric, inviting you to linger. Having been there a few times now, I’d say the menu is carefully thought out, but occasionally, the quality (freshness) and portions are hit or miss, but mostly hit. It’s a nice little neighborhood treasure and always an enjoyable place to go.

I called to make a reservation for my birthday as I have always wanted to dine here. I was told they don’t take reservations unless it’s for parties 5 and larger. No problem. I just wanted assurance if I drive an hour that we can get in. I told the person I’ve never been there to know whether or not we can get in. His answer was “OK! Thank you.” He hung up without saying goodbye. I’m glad I didn’t waste my time and money. I think that pretty much gave me a great impression of how they handle customer service.

Among the finest restaurants in the northeast - if not the country. Super-fresh ingredients transformed into mouthwatering delights. A warm welcome is always guaranteed, too! It’s not cheap but by the standards of today’s 5-star spots, highly reasonable. A must to visit if you’re in the Berkshires.

Every time I visit the Berkshires, dining at The Old Mill is a must. Their appetizer of prosciutto, burrata, and poached pear is a delightful beginning, and the seared calves liver with mashed potatoes and green beans is superbly prepared. Sitting by the fire added a cozy warmth to our evening, perfect for the chilly weather. The welcoming staff and charming ambiance always make our experience special. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to The Old Mill - it’s a highlight of my trips to the area.

Restaurant worth driving to. Very friendly atmosphere, good service and good food. Great appetizer selection, great selection of specials. The same for the main course. A desert menu worth dining for.

Absolutely fantastic food! The service was very attentive, without being overbearing. The food quality and taste are akin to what you’d find at a top NYC restaurant. The porcini mushroom arancini was a standout; one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The seared ahi tuna and the steak were also delightful and cooked perfectly. I LOVED the cheese spread, olives, and bread they provide before the meal. What a lovely touch!! I highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to go back! 2023 update: Food is just as delicious as I remembered. Great cocktails too.

Amazing experience. Excellent food, welcoming and attentive staff, clean and cozy environment…this place has it all. My husband, 8 month old baby, and myself went to dinner here a few days ago after visiting Bash Bish Falls. Everyone was so excited to see my baby (who happens to be very well behaved at restaurants, despite the awkward stares and eye rolls we usually get going into a restaurant) but they were super welcoming and accommodating for us. Even had a high chair, not always common at upscale places. I ordered the halibut special and my husband got the tuna dish. We got the mussel appetizer too, which oh my goodness was so delicious!!! We each got a cocktail as well. Two drinks, an appetizer, mashed potatoes for the baby, the halibut and tuna entrees and bill was $119 before tip. Excellent place, highly recommend! We will definitely be returning.

Excellent food and very cosy, quaint atmosphere. There is quite a line to get in - and it's well worth it. From appetizers to entrées to deserts, everything was tasty, well cooked. A gem in the area!

Stick to the drinks and you’ll be fine. The old mill is romantic and charming and a great place for drinks. We’ve eaten there 5 times over the past few years and I keep wishing the food would be better. There are a few bright spots, some soups are good but overall the dishes really need a quality bump. Hoping it improves and would love to try again maybe if they announce an update to the kitchen leadership.

Honestly some of the best food and service I have had in a while. Beats most experiences you can find in NYC, we're lucky to have stumbled into this gem. Prime rib was tender and flavorful, braised short ribs were delicious, and we ended our meal with some incredible tiramisu. Water pitcher was kept filled without asking. Exactly what we needed after 6 hours hiking

Looking for traditional cuisine, cooked to perfection and accompanied by good service? Then the Old Mill fits the bill exceptionally well. We had an excellent meal, including cocktails and dessert right through to coffee. Why not five stars? I really would rate it 4.5 stars, with some reservations concerning the originally of the dishes. The trout could have benefited from some diversity of texture, like fried fish skin to add a bit of crunch. Again, everything was excellent, just a bit predictable. The waiting staff could be a bit more personable, although with a clientele over 60 they reflect the overall sober mood. Recommended for an upscale calm dinner with family or friends.

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Always a good meal; and great service. If you are a large party; they will accept reservations. Otherwise, they don't take reservations. You can also get the menu at the bar which is a good option. The desserts are particularly great. Love the lemon meringue sundae!
