A really nice hidden gem and a place that has a really interesting history! The little museum is really interesting! The view from up here is very much a place that needs to be seen to be believed
This is a beautiful park with beautiful views up in the mountains overlooking waynesboro and surrounding areas with plenty of amenities like picnic tables up dated kids play equipment with a variety of shaded and sunny areas for a picnic. It also has an overlook, a train that comes through ever so often, and pavilions that you can reserve for use for an outdoor event. There are plenty of parking spaces available and paved walkways to easily maneuver your way around the park. Last but not least, the park is tobacco free and has easy access points to the surrounding trails and is very well maintained, too. All in all, this park has to be one of the best to visit that I've been to in the tri-state area.
A little hard to find, but a very beautiful park. Plenty of things to do for the kids, high rock over look up the street. An over look for the adults and the kids overlooking Smithsburg, Md. Right next to Fort Ritchie. Great place to spend the day.
Gorgeous park! There was a wedding happening when we arrived, so we couldn't go out on the viewing platform and get pictures of the overlook (which is fine, we'd rather respect the wedding than snag some pictures lol we'll get the pictures next time and add them to this post). Bathrooms were clean, park is also very clean. Plenty of parking spaces.
This is one of the best public parks in Maryland. There's a new playground for kids, pavilions for gathering, many picnic tables, a zipline, live music on Sundays from May - Oct, and the Appalachian Trail goes right through it.
Let me start off by saying this place is beautiful!! My husband and I was married here this past August. Our guest( most of them from out of town) was absolutely stunned with the scenery. This place is a hidden gem. If you have time stop in and enjoy the park.
This is such a nice little park. Nice covered pavilions, clean rest rooms, play ground equipment for the kids, great view of the valley, but most importantly is the history behind this park which you can learn about in their little museum.

Beautiful county park lots of picnicking availability, a really nice playground for the kids, info center restrooms and concessions available after Memorial Day, park sits just yards from the Mason-Dixon Line has a large pavilion for watching sunsets over a gorgeous view aswell as another large pavilion used for live music and dancing, definitely one of the more impressive local parks the Appalachian Trail passes through.
Penmar Park is located just a few minutes walk from the border of Maryland and Pennsylvania on the Appalachian Trail. It has a family friendly vibe, restrooms and immaculate sunset views overlooking the valley. The main parking lot closes at dusk and a permit is required for overnight parking at the adjacent lot.
This was a very good Park they had two different playgrounds for the children in a bunch of swing sets trails that you can hike in going every which direction also they had for Pavilions maybe 50 + picnic tables some of which were equipped with grills to Pavilions did come with grills and a place to have a laptop in case you wanted to set music to the mood and they also had a area where a band could play with completely flat fluted concrete surface and it was overlooking A View to which you could see Waynesboro Greencastle and Beyond clear to Mercersburg and Marian maybe even further south towards the outer edges Hagerstown and Williamsport all in all I would say it was a good place for family and friends and if you had just a get-together you wanted to have a good place for that thank you and like this review
Beautiful and large park with a great view of the valley below. Everything you need for a great day with the family. In addition, the Appalachian Trail runs through the park. So take a few hours to hop on the trail and walk in the footsteps of so many others.
Penn Mar park is a very quiet and relaxing place. Very clean and we'll maintained. Beautiful scenery overlooking to the Western mountains. Due to the epidemic that has effected most of us, the normal activities for this park has been postponed. The park and restrooms are open to all and very nice.
We love this park. My wife and I dance, and this park has live bands every Sunday during the summer months. It has a beautiful view and the weather is great. Come on out on a Sunday afternoon and enjoy the music.
I came here on a slow day while waiting for ny friend to fill out his discharge paperwork. It started raining and I got lost in the light drizzle making that pitter-patter sound.. It was easy to just sit and appreciate the beauty around me in peace.
My granddaughter had her wedding there last week. It is a park and it is on a hill so there was an issue with my 85 year old mom walking. There are very nice paved walkways and the groom had arranged a golf cart for the day. My younger grandkids had a good time on all the playground equipment. It was a great arrangement dance floor and playgrounds on the same grounds.
I've come up to Pen Mar Park a few times and each time I have it has been a very pleasant experience. The view is just very nice from the top of the mountain. With the dances throughout the year, it gives the park a very nice musical aspect to it. The Appalachian trail runs through and can take you wherever you want to go. Whether young or old, rain or shine the park is a great place for all kinds of people.
