This repair business is magical! The owner and his staff were top notch caring expert professionals. I was traveling on a Saturday back home to North Carolina when my car started having trouble. I knew it was not safe to drive 312 more miles. I googled mechanic near me and their shop was .3 miles away and open. Their kindness, the reasonable and necessary repair, got me back home safely, with no more issues. Without them, I would have been stuck and quite sad. On Saturday, July 26, 2025, my air conditioning unexpectedly stopped working while I was driving to Ocean City. My friend and I located Chesapeake Auto Repair Service as the closest repair shop and called ahead spoke to Tyrone. We specifically inquired if they could check and recharge the AC, to which they confirmed, also mentioning they would conduct a full check to determine the cause of the issue. Upon arrival, I handed over my keys. After approximately 30 minutes, I was informed there would be a $96 charge for the AC check. I was surprised by this as the fee was not disclosed prior to them taking my keys. My question about the uncommunicated charge was unfortunately ignored. Following this, I overheard an employee discussing the potential cost of a new compressor for my Honda with a coworker, seemingly in a joking manner, without addressing me directly. After independently researching compressor prices for a hybrid vehicle, I mentioned that I was seeing prices around $1,100, which led to a noticeable silence from the staff. The primary individual I had spoken with on the phone then informed me that the total cost for the AC repair would be approximately $2,400, and that parts would need to be ordered, meaning the repair could not be completed that day. When I requested a diagnosis sheet detailing everything that was checked, the main individual became visibly annoyed. He stated he would provide a printout of what was wrong with the car and explained that the issue was with the compressor clutch, but that the compressor itself was working. However, the labor receipt I was given stated "compressor not working." I explained that any shop performing the repair would typically conduct their own examination, and that diagnostic fees are often waived or incorporated into the repair cost if the shop is unable to complete the service. The employee then stated that the charge should have been $96, not the $99 accidentally charged to my credit card by his coworker, and offered me a $5 refund for the overcharge. Given the lack of transparency regarding fees, the conflicting diagnoses, and the overall communication issues, I would advise caution when considering Chesapeake Auto Repair Service for automotive repairs.

Tyrone is a true professional and also cares about people. With just a phone call he was able to fit me in last minute for an oil leak quote. I was previously quoted $5,000 from the dealership. Tyrone actually showed me what and where the issue was coming from and quoted me a much reasonable price to start the troubleshoot. Best service I’ve ever had. And also we had a few laughs too. A coil pack died on our way to Delaware for a short vacation. This was around 10:30 a.m., and I reached this shop based on great reviews and speaking with a tow truck driver. The family shop said to bring it by, and they addressed my issues within a couple of hours. They were very courteous, accommodating, and very knowledgeable. Tyrone made sure we had transportation to our destination while he worked on my car. He and his team made sure my vehicle was up and running by the time we had to return home. I couldn't wait to leave a review for this auto repair shop. I had heard very good things about them on Facebook, so I knew when our truck broke down that this was the place to have it towed. After talking to Tyrone on the phone and in person, I am sure this is the place for all our future needs. What a relief! So friendly, honest, fair, and accommodating. I was so pleasantly surprised when he told me the final total and it was what he had estimated. I am used to the final price being 100-200+ over what was estimated at other mechanic shops we have used in the past. I am so thankful for this place. Highly recommend.

The shop and business atmosphere are very welcoming, and customer friendly with free coffee, TV, and even massage chairs while you wait for your vehicle to be serviced. Tyrone and his family are doing a wonderful job and have created a wonderful family owned business that provides all the small town feels and benefits of living in a small town. Tyrone literally rescued me from the side of the road when my car battery died at night. I was able to get a tow and have the problem fixed in a matter of days - even over the weekend. I had my car back by Monday & am grateful to have found a great local mechanic to help me out. Highly recommend.

I had such a great experience with Tyrone and his team! Not only did I walk in without calling because my car started making some random weird noise but Tyrone accommodated me and was very hospitable. They ordered, paid, and installed my parts the same day. Explained the entire process all while answering my 21 questions. Provided pie, coffee, and a charger for my phone. My husband and I have been coming to this place for years. The owner is amazing, he does his best to get you in right away. Always does a wonderful job and has wonderful turn around time. You can tell the owner cares about the community, he is willing to work with you and will tirelessly try to find the parts you need. I told my sister to go to him and now she does regularly. I can’t say enough nice things about him, Centreville is so lucky to have him. I trust him completely with my cars.

Tyrone!! You’re amazing!! The reviews were so correct. We had a tire separate on our way home from ocean city md. Stopped by and talked with Tyrone. He was so eager and tried to find us a tire at all the local places. Unfortunately no one carried my tire size and you could tell he was very disappointed that he was unable to solve our problem. We made it home to northern Virginia and I took my car to the dealership to get a tire… but, I couldn’t go with out sharing our really nice experience meeting Tyrone. I’d trust him with my million dollar vehicle, he seems to have all the knowledge and you got an immediate sense of comfort as soon as you talk to him. Your vehicle will be well taken care of if you take it to Tyrone.

I called to make an appointment for an oil change and had no problems getting the date and time that I wanted. Mr. Tyrone is always very nice and helpful with any questions that I have about my car! There was a guy that came in and needed his brakes and rotors changed and Mr. Tyrone was willing to stay later(on a Saturday!!) in order to work him in, not too many places will do that. I love this place, and will continue to come here and recommend to my friends! Great job Chesapeake Auto Repair-I would give 10 stars if possible
