This now days this is the worst landfills to come. It is supposed to be the Prince Georges County's landfill where you can come and throw the trash that they will not pick up from you domicile but this is the 3rd time that I have come in the last 2 years and this last three times have been the worse. Before I used to come, weighed my car and go to the trash and then pay for what I had dumped, then they made it free for all people that came on personal cars and lastly they made it so the you can only dump construction/debris trash once a year and the will not accept any kind of comercial or cars with any special/construction modifications. So I you had come here they one time don't even bother to come the second time in the same year you are better off finding another place or just renting a dumpster. Really messed up how the #1 place for Prince George's County for dumping trash is not even accepting trash anymore. Not even if you try to pay to enter.
Please like this review and hope that this can be fixed so we can have somewhere that is really dedicated to the disposal of trash.
I came here today to throw some woods because I have small project in my house but they will be charging ke 185 bucks. I am a resident of PG. This is BS
This landfill is crazy. They want to charge and put a hold for $280.00 for 5 days on
my card for less than a ton of garbage, plus the disposal fees. I never heard of a landfill charging you before you unload your trash.
Was turned away from this landfill and told that the reason is due to my truck having a lumber rack, it seems that you can no longer haul common household junk here if your vehicle has any modifications.
This is the worst county ever I been trying to get some answers I did call and leave messages but they never return the calls or always got the answer machine I been on the landfill they treat you like they doing you a favor when you make some questions they ignore you or mistreat you
Highly recommend a visit to a landfill to realize in 3D and with all your senses the impact of our daily waste generation. The kind and professional personnel of this facility share valuable insights about the process and answered all questions from visitors of all ages. Grateful to them and to the Sierra Club Maryland for inviting us to this tour. I’m not giving them a 5 star, because I strive for zero waste. Yet, let me recognize that this landfill is one of the best ones I’ve seen and that it’s light-years ahead of open dumps that still exist worldwide.
I’ve been to the landfill three or four times and it’s always quick and easy. Check in with the people upon entering and they’ll tell me where to go to depending on what I have to dump. I don’t know if it’s a pandemic thing but I’m here on Wednesday at noon and there’s a very long slow moving line to get into the landfill.
Very disorganized in the morning I suggest not coming early I got there 7:50 and left at 9am for a 15mins dump. Time is money. delaying peoples day is very In considerate
Let me tell you the tale of king trashman:
Once, I had to drive to the dump to drop off some trash. It was a wonderful summer day, but still, traveling to the landfill is not fun. First, I turned right, and the trash guys who sort the trash told me, this was just for metals, oil, etc... For household trash, I would have to go up to the hill. So, I drove up the hill, my trash in tow. I kept driving until the road turned into dirt, and that dirt turned into trash. Yes, a big pile of dirt road and trash beaten down to a flat surface. It was there upon that hill that I encountered king trashman. He wore a high-visibility jacket and held a mighty fiberglass staff. Birds were everywhere, I have never seen so many birds in my life. Seagulls, crows, ravens, vultures. All just coexisting. The smell was, of course, unbearably... unique. King trashman beckoned me over and I waited my turn to hand him my one bag of household trash. I was not worthy. It wasn't until I descended, that I realized the unique and special privilege it was to see him in all his bearded glory. Was it even real?
Men and young woman working at 9:30 on Aug. 11, 2022 at #2 and #5 are excellent employees. They were friendly, energetic and enthusiastic. They answered questions and removed materials efficiently. PGCPS taxes at work!
Could not have gone more smoothly. Super organized, efficient and layout was easy to understand. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful about where to go and what to dump. Great customer service!
I have been waiting in line for almost 30 minutes to dump some unwanted furniture. When I lived in Charles County, I would be in and out in a fraction of the time. The wait is terrible.
Starting my empty nest phase and had to get rid of a few things. It was a new and professionally handled experience. The swarm of various (I may have seen an eagle) birds were a sight to see)
Well organized, and there's no disturbing smell. The cost is very reasonable and customer service one of the more pleasurable experiences relative to other places I've visited.
I've never had a problem waiting when I've gone to the landfill. I've been able to drive straight in and go to the various locations to drop off materials that I have in my car and leave and it didn't take long at all very easy process
I've taken several trips to the landfill recently and been very pleased with the experience. I haven't had to wait at all most of the time and the other times it hasn't been more than a few people in front. The gentlemen who work at drop offs 2 and 5 are always friendly and helpful. I'm an older lady and they always rush to help me even when I say I don't need help. Thanks guys.
We have been more than a dozen times now. Any private vehicle does not get charged. We have come in with things strapped to the top of our hatchback and we were able to go in uncharged.
Also super nice is on Saturdays they have a special line for private vehicles (cars, SUVs, and minivans) so we don't have to wait for all the trucks that have to be weighed.
We have done a truck once and it is pretty painless too. Get weighed, dump, and reweigh. Make sure you bring cash for this!
As far as dumping, this is what we have figured out. Lot 2 is for hazardous waste/electronics - only open Thurs, Fri, and Sat (maybe Wed too but I can't remember).
Lot 4 is for metal recyclables (including appliances) and yard waste. And lot 5 is for other stuff - they will direct you to which bin to put your waste in depending on what you have.
Everyone is super helpful as long as you do what they tell you to. They will even sometimes help you unload.
I have gone there many times in my 6 years living here. Always had great staff and great service. Never waited in line more than 20 minutes even on a Saturday. Great service to the residents of the county. Good to see our tax dollars at work.
Went on a Thursday @1030am. The wait was about 15 mins in line. The attendants were extremely friendly! They unloaded my car for me and it was completely free - as I'm a county resident. Great experience overall.
It’s the worst landfill I’ve even been to!!!! After waiting for more than an hour today the woman told my friend to pay $20 cash, unfortunately we don’t have cash. All we have household waste and we couldn’t even damp it because we didn’t have cash! Awful experience! I’m from Howard county and I’m just helping my friend since I have the truck, to damp few household waste. Howard county landfill is the best no hassle, nice people, and FREE for resident like me! I will never come back to this brown landfill again!!!
The staff is extremely slow. Signage and information is lacking. Not very customer-focused. If you ask a question you feel like you're bothering the staff. Processes appear to be very inefficient. Of course you have no other choice but to go here. As for myself I rather drill a hole in my own head then a frequent this place again.
