Super disappointed on this cheap cheap cheap cheap as hell go elsewhere to sell your metal. 0.02 CENTS PER POUND THATS FRIKIN ridiculous I guess you guys choose where to go sell that scrap metal next time
I visited Maryland Recycle today for the first time with a variety of ferrous metals (steel), aluminum, and copper, and plan to be back with all my future metal "trash"! Akim was extremely helpful and efficient. (I didn't know how this would work.) They took everything I had including wires, (clean) aluminum foil and food trays, various steel hardware and pieces, and more.
(I had kept the metal types separated. I'm not sure how important that was.) I wasn't intending to get paid - just happy to have the metal recycled.
I use the Alpha Ridge Landfill (Howard County's waste center) for most of my "special waste" needs. Maryland Recycle seemed more organized for metals, and gave me more faith that things will actually be recycled. Alpha Ridge said they'd take anything, but their metal area is essentially just a large outdoor dropoff where all metal types are mixed together. I think it's probably okay for large steel appliances, but I'm skeptical about other things. E.g., I wasn't sure where loose things would go, and lightweight aluminum like foil would likely blow away (unless I put it in my own container).
This maybe the last time I deal with them. I always take at least 3 large batteries in that weigh about 130lbs each. I usually get between $90-$100. On my last visit, I had the same 3 large batteries as well as an additional over 500lbs of steel/metal. This mix had a control board, a vacuum motor, and another motor from a ride on vacuum. I somehow cleared only $91 and some change. This is the second time this has happened. Not good.
Very ignorant I was getting my metal all separated and they rushed me to leave after I was Al ready In the gate ten minutes before they closed not my fault they are slow just sharing they are ignorant and had the nerve to say u gotta leave not only one time but 2 times
Helpful, friendly people. Hunter, an employee at the Owings Mills location, recommended this location to me, as it would be closer to my house. I'm happy to say that the employees at this location were every bit as nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the guy who helped me, but he was awesome. He was patient with me and seemed genuinely interested in hearing about my previous experience at the Owings Mills location. Even the guy sweeping took a second to say hello to me and exchange pleasantries. Overall, I was super happy with the service I received at both the Owings Mills and Elkridge locations.
When you see these high rating on this place its all lies! They are currently giving you half the price they should be on metals like brass and copper. Straight rip off dont ever go here! Stay away! Go anywhere else!
A great place to get some extra cash for old car parts, scrap metal, wire or pipe. Not the cleanest place, but usually when you are recycling metal you aren't either :)
The staff is reasonably friendly, The hours are a little restrictive so if you show up close to closing time don't expect to get a warm welcome.
4 stars for the service they provide, 3 stars for the hours.
