I have a Kia Soul and the engine light came on - it had the code that Kia has been having with bad engines that needed to be replaced. They decided to charge me $1,000 for repairs that didn’t fix the problem and my car was back in their shop within a week - same problem, same code. So they decided to replace the sensor. I picked my car up and didn’t make it home before the problem happened again. Third time - same problem same code. They decided to replace the engine but won’t discuss a refund on the parts and repairs they had me purchase the first time. They knew the problem and the right thing to do, but they made me jump through hoops and pay for bogus repairs. Now telling me to contact Kia and Kia is telling me to go to the dealer. Sounds like a scam. What a crock!!!

We had a great experience buying a used Kia Niro. All the staff were great and easy to work with. I highly recommend Joe as the salesperson who was extremely accommodating and fair with the process.

Good experience. Issannet, Diego, Joseph and Gabriel were a good sales team. After a few days, I noticed a minor issue with the car, but Bryan at service fixed it at no charge. Happy with the car.

Service is generally quick, but quality varies and the story is different with what needs to be done every single time. According to the advisor, I need new brake fluid despite the fact that it's less than 10,000 miles old and tests clean. Multiple examples of stories like this. Advisor will generally treat you like an idiot who is wasting their time.

I’ve been a loyal Kia owner for over a decade and never had any issues until dealing with the Frederick Kia dealership. In 2022, I purchased a brand-new Kia Sorento, and just eight months later the vehicle began experiencing major mechanical issues. Since then, the transmission has been replaced five times. Each repair required my vehicle to remain in the shop for a month or more, causing ongoing disruption to both my personal life and my business.
Most recently, while my vehicle was once again in the shop, the dealership provided a rental vehicle that also broke down. I was initially told the cost of the tow would be covered, only to later receive a text stating that I would be responsible for paying for it. The explanation given was that the issue was due to a lack of gas; however, AAA confirmed that gas was not the issue, and I personally verified that the tank did in fact have gas. Being told one thing and then later told the opposite—while already dealing with extended repairs—was extremely frustrating and unreasonable.
To make matters worse, the service advisor, Jack, has been consistently condescending and dismissive throughout this process. Instead of being treated like a valued, long-time customer, I’ve experienced repeated frustration, poor communication, and a lack of support.
I hope this review helps others make informed decisions and encourages the dealership to seriously improve how they handle recurring service issues and treat loyal customers. No one should have to endure this level of repeated inconvenience and disrespect.
Update:
Following my original review, the situation escalated further when I went to retrieve my vehicle.
I was told my vehicle would not be released unless I paid a fee that had not been properly disclosed. While my husband was on speakerphone explaining that under Garageman’s Lien law a dealership cannot legally withhold a customer’s vehicle without a valid, disclosed repair charge tied to that vehicle, the service representative assisting me, Ado, laughed and walked away while the legality of the situation was being explained. When I was again told my vehicle would not be released without payment, I contacted the police to document the situation.
Management later reversed course, acknowledged the fee should not have been applied, and released my vehicle.
After I left, the service manager accidentally called me while discussing me and the situation, believing she was speaking with someone else. During that call, she questioned my response, despite being fully aware of the conduct that led to it. That interaction further highlighted the lack of accountability and professionalism at both the service and management levels.

I've coming here since before it was Darcars. I've always received excellent service. My current service guy Jake always makes me feel welcome and always looks out for my best interest. Jake is the type of employee you don't want to lose.

I purchased a used 2013 KIA Sorento for my son, and every time his car requires service, I bring it to DARCARS KIA for one simple reason: Jake Smith. Throughout my experiences, Jake has consistently been courteous. Whenever timing was crucial, he ensured the work was completed promptly, often ahead of schedule. His professionalism stands out; he clearly explained which repairs were necessary, focusing on those that ensured the car's safe operation. I truly recognized Jake's integrity after I took another vehicle to a different auto service center, where I noticed a distinct lack of courtesy, timeliness, expertise, and reasonable costs. If you own a KIA and need maintenance, I highly recommend choosing DARCARS KIA.

I had an exceptional experience with Darcars Kia of Frederick, and I want to specifically recognize Brett and his team for going above and beyond.
I originally purchased a used Ford F 150 from Darcars and unfortunately began experiencing issues almost immediately. I genuinely liked the truck and attempted to get the problems resolved, but at the time I was assured everything was fine. About 10 months later, the truck suffered a catastrophic engine failure.
When I returned to Darcars Kia after the breakdown, I worked directly with Brett, and the experience was completely different. From day one, he took ownership of the situation. The moment my truck arrived on a tow truck, Brett arranged a rental car for me, no questions asked, so I was not left stranded. Over the next two to three weeks, he worked tirelessly to find the right solution for me.
Although we were not able to get me into another truck, Brett found me a newer Ford Explorer with fewer miles than my F 150. Even more impressive, Brett and Gabriel went to bat for me with the bank to lower my monthly payment, making the transition essentially a clean swap from my truck loan into the new vehicle. Brett also committed to addressing a few minor issues with the Explorer, which he followed through on.
Despite the challenges at the beginning with the old manger of this process, Brett and his sales team completely turned the experience around. Their professionalism, honesty, and dedication truly set them apart. Any issues that existed before Brett’s involvement were fully alleviated, and I left feeling taken care of and respected.
I would absolutely return to Darcars Kia of Frederick and confidently recommend Brett and his team. Brett is an honest, respectable salesperson who genuinely looks out for his customers. Five stars without hesitation.Dec 16, 2025 -
I just purchased a 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige yesterday and had an absolutely amazing experience! My sales rep, Issannet, was incredible from start to finish, friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and truly made the whole process stress-free. She answered all my questions, kept me updated, and made sure I found exactly what I wanted.
I also worked with Gabriel in Finance, and he was equally fantastic. He explained everything clearly, made the paperwork easy, and never made me feel rushed. Both of them went above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service.

I bought a Kia Carnival from Darcar Kia in Frederick this past weekend and was thrilled with the experience. I found the car online and it was the only one within 1000 miles with what I wanted (seating, colors, trim level, 2023 SX Prestige) and I called to inquire. Contrary to bad experiences I have had buying other used cars, this one was totally transparent. The price they listed online was the price they had on site, with no additional "add-ons" -- and in fact the salesperson -- the very kind and helpful Joseph--gave me a bit of a discount because I came from so far away. Joseph and his colleagues (including Gabriel in Finance) were helpful, transparent, and extremely accomodating and helpful throughout. The financing beat out my credit union with a great rate with no hidden charges. All in all, I love my new car and can't say enough good things about this experience!

really wonderful experience with DARCARS tonight. unfortunately my Honda HrV transmission blew on saturday and would have cost us 10k to fix.. had to find a new vehicle big enough for our growing family, so came to Kia in Frederick. With the budget we had set and the predicament we were in, we were able to make a deal with them as Gabriel was phenomenal and super helpful in getting the monthly payment as low as possible for us to afford a brand new 2026 Sorento. we are incredibly blessed for all the help he was willing and able to give to our family. Thank you! Issanette was also wonderful as our saleswoman, very personable and knowledgeable in the vehicle and its features. Thankful we came to Kia and worked out a deal as Ford was unable to give us for a “new” vehicle.

Set up appointment online and spoke with cashier about diagnostic fee. Received email night before confirming appointment and drop off instructions. Arrived the morning of appointment and told it was never confirmed. Service staff was nice enough and said I could leave it for drop off, but would not be able to wait. Why have an online scheduling option of it is not valid. Reread email and there was nothing about having to confirm appointment. Even though I did when I called. Waste of a day.

Went in to check out their used cars a couple of weeks ago super late in the evening.
Issannet greeted me and ask me a couple of questions about what I was looking for, price range, use case, and important features. Within 20 minutes, she was able to find the exact car I wanted, in the price point I wanted it for, and brand new compared to used. I was really appreciative of her knowledge of what they could offer and get me exactly what I wanted without trying to upsell me on something I didn’t need. She walked me through the setup of Kia connect which was super painless and did a thorough job at walking me through all the features of the car. There wasn’t a question she couldn’t answer. She was 5 stars.
The only reason this is a 4 vs a 5 is because of the finance department. Honestly this review should be a 3 but issannet did such a good job that she brings it up to a 4.
Going into finance, I had an interest rate from my bank for used cars at 5.2% and my credit score at the time was in the 800s. They insisted the best they could do on financing was 7.8%. I was insistent that they could do better but they insisted they couldn’t. (Which I kinda understand because it was later at night but I’ve never had an issue). It wasn’t until I pulled up Kia 2.8% promotional rate on the Kia website where they begrudgingly did it. (I had to not take a $1000 rebate but with the the amount saved on interest, I didn’t care). I really don’t appreciate being lied to. That’s really slimey and scummy. Please be respectful in the future. If you had offered me that from the beginning, this would have been the most painless car purchase I’ve ever had.
I also don’t appreciate them trying to hide GAP insurance. I wanted it but I wasn’t offered it, I was just handed a paper to sign and I noticed it was for GAP. I would have liked to been offered it like every other dealership vs trying to be tricked into it.Aug 21, 2025 -

Exceptional experience at DARCARS Kia of Frederick. I was upside down on my trade in and my loan was with a predatory lender. I had to get out of that situation and get into something else. I tried car max first and what they offered wasn’t great. Lucky I stopped at Kia. They gave me more for my trade and got me into a new vehicle that I love! I did a lease with option to buy but was able to get their rebate and will most likely buy it at the end of the lease or get a newer model but I’ll be a Kia customer for many years to come.

I highly recommend Issannet! I went in with some pretty specific requests and requirements. She worked with me over a period of 4 days to find the perfect car by my deadline. She showed me a few vehicles until I found one that was perfect! She took time to test drive multiple vehicles with me and explained all the features and how to use them. She was very patient and professional and wrote us a handwriting note to congrats us on our purchase, and included a little gift bag. I will absolutely be going back to her next time I need a new car!

Had a great seamless experience buying my first car here! Not only did Stephen work with me on a competitive price but he also got the car brought up all the way from Waldorf for me. Then upon coming in we were given a warm welcome by Brian who got us through the process efficiently without sparing any detail. He was very helpful throughout the process and my dad was very happy that his son was buying a car from a fellow Springbook Blue Devil! Would definitely do business here again.
