I understand that the people at the scale are just doing what they are told. I am a licensed state of maryland contractor and my business address is registered in Frederick. I collect my trash from different job sites at my location and sometimes they are from a different county! When asked where the trash is from, I had to answer with a truthful statement, which was true for the majority of the trash I intended to dump, however, I was turned away because I said some of the trash is from Cumberland, when however, some other trash in the same load comes from Frederick. I can't even believe this, since it's not a free service, we are paying for this trash to be handled at this facility! What does it matter where it comes from?

Easy access. Wished Center would fix the display screen when entering. Message was hard to read. Attendant was extremely helpful.

I didn't have any issues I went the very first time a couple of weeks ago. I can understand though if there where alot of cars, how it may take awhile to get in and out. Where you dump trash is about a 2-3 min drive after you enter the weigh station. If your not a truck just stay to your left as you enter. Took about 300+ Ilbs and only paid around $13. Would be nice if maybe they had a quick location for smaller cars with just small trash like they do in Rockville, but I get it.

Trash collectors will not pick up cardboard boxes meant for recycling. Recycling service rejected my neighbors cardboard boxes due to some styrofoam and plastic mixed in. They just moved in this labor day weekend. When I saw it, I decided to take it to the front before trash collectors arrive. When they did arrive, they didn't pick up the cardboard boxes on the ground.

How do we, as taxpaying citizens, put up with the fact that you can not take one bag of trash to the landfill without paying $10. The average home value in the County is around $500K so the average person pays $5,000 in property tax/year. Yet that does not buy you one bag of waste that you deliver yourself to the landfill. It is ridiculous and encourages illegal dumping. Our elected representatives need to be held accountable.

Have been to this location multiple times with one vehicle full with stuff and one vehicle with people who were going to help unload. Never had an issue. Today we were told it was a liability issue and were rudely told off, making it so 2 people have to unload dangerously heavy items by themselves. THAT sounds like more of a liability issue to me.

This review is for the curbside pickup. Usually they are terrific. This past cycle they drove past our recycle bin twice and did not stop. Our can was out on the street 2 1/2 hours before they arrived and the lid was closed. ALL of my neighbors can had been picked up. We called and spoke to a very polite woman who said she would look into it. A few hours later a county vehicle came out, drove past and then stopped. Sat in his vehicle for a little while and then came out with a yellow tag that stated there were non-recyclables in the can and that is the reason it was not picked up. Point is that the recycle tram had never checked the can since they drive past, didn’t stop and the lid was closed. They made a mistake but instead of admitting it they threw the blame elsewhere.

Was turned away at convenience center because I had a double axle trailer in tow. I was moving and only had 4 kitchen bags of trash and a grill to dispose of but the “guard” didn’t care. So I stated that I could drop the trailer and come back and he said no, and he would call the police if I did. I get that they want to make money by sending trailers over the scales, but that’s a pretty crappy thing to do to a person.

Spoke with a woman today, who seemed competent on the telephone. Did what she asked. She said she would call back and have the people pick up my recycling and she never did. Still sitting in front of my driveway while my neighbors were picked up. She thought of every excuse, I took pictures and sent them to her, I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s kind of scary to know that this person could be so nice On the phone but completely and utterly just saying whatever the hell she needs you to get you to hang up and then do nothing.

Called them to let them know that my recycling bin was missing, they answered almost immediately, filled the order, and got my new bin 2 weeks later. Awesome job!

Outstanding Facility – Efficient, Clean, and Well-Managed The Frederick County Division of Solid Waste is hands down one of the best-run public services in the county. I've been using this facility for years for everything from household trash and recycling drop-offs to yard waste and bulky item disposal, and every experience has been consistently positive. The site is well-organized and easy to navigate, even for first-time visitors. Clear signage, helpful attendants, and logical traffic flow make the entire process quick and hassle-free. Whether you're dropping off bagged trash, electronics, scrap metal, or old furniture, there’s always someone available to point you in the right direction and answer questions. Customer service is top-notch. Staff members are always friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They’re quick to offer assistance and never make you feel rushed, even when the site is busy. Their positive attitudes reflect a real commitment to public service. The recycling and yard waste areas are very well maintained, and I appreciate the county’s efforts toward environmental responsibility. I also like that they offer periodic hazardous waste collection events and publish information online in a clear, accessible way. For residents like me who appreciate a clean and efficient place to responsibly manage waste, the Frederick County Division of Solid Waste truly delivers. It’s an important asset to our community, and I’m thankful for the hard work that goes into keeping it running so smoothly. Highly recommended!

Great place and friendly employees. I bring my house hold trash to the transfer station at least every other Saturday. I went through a major house renovation and brought all of the construction and demo debris to the transfer station myself and found the cost to be very reasonable. Yard waste / trimmings are free and to recycle is free. I even bring my used oil and filters, antifreeze and scrap metal to the recycling center. On several occasions the workers at the recycling center have help to unload my truck. The gate employees are always friendly and polite. I find the landfill / transfer station / recycling center to be very clean and organized.

2 stars only due to the Very long lines at the transfer station - need a better option for residents. Otherwise, very good.

The dump is run very well in general . Of course Saturdays are busy in the afternoon. The staff is friendly and having two scales is fantastic

We used the dump often this was the worse time. Come to drop off trimmings loader operator would not speak to us to tell us were to pull into due to overfill just shook his head at us. Then needed to get mulch got to mulch another load operator came didn't say anything to use started to load are trailer. Had to wave him to even stop him from fill. Never ask how much we needed. Terrible communication with loader operator.

Would it be weird to say it's one of the prettiest, most peaceful places in the county?? Well, it is. Frederick County has a top notch program and makes it nearly effortless for all of us to "reduce, reuse and recycle." Best, cheapest mulch and compost too!

My 1st experience at a dump/recycle/landfill today. Spent extra time breaking down cardboard and recycle materials. Spent extra time loading truck to separate types of trash/recycle materials. 1st stop we went to drop off cardboard, which was half of our truck. When we opened back to leave cardboard and a man came over and rudely told us we were not permitted to leave our cardboard there, that we had to take all to dump part. The guy was a complete jerk and approached me in an aggressive manner and didn't let me explain we were only leaving cardboard there and then continue to other sections. Then as we passed where he was parked and i looked down to where we were told to leave and he was waving to me and laughing as he sat in his truck. I don't understand why an employee would act so antagonistic. I don't care about how much it costs to take trash and recycling there. I will gladly pay whatever to get rid of stuff properly. I will never return to this place. I'd rather pay 2 or 3 times the price to never have to see that man again.

Returned from a walk this morning to find that my car had been hit by what was obviously a very large truck, who drove off without leaving any info. The only large trucks through the neighborhood this morning was the recycling truck, so take your guess!

Great place for yard cuttings and tree trimming debris. Easy access, quick turnaround in and out in 10 mins.

April 22nd 2022 recycling employees come through on my street decides not to pick up my bin when there were other bins beside my bin that were picked up and I had a full bin full been of recycling. I've never had that happen before. I got a call back from the manager and had someone come out and pick up my recycling that's was full I thank God that they came out to fix and resolve the issue.

If they're not tossing the bin into the rocky ditch, they're failing to empty it sufficiently (last time it was left about a fifth full) or breaking off parts by the way they handle it. We had to get a new bin a while back because they'd broken it so much it would fill up with rainwater. How is recycling environmentally friendly if we have to go through huge plastic bins on the regular? At least they've actually picked up the recycling consistently for the last few months, they get a second star for that. Previously, it would simply sit there for days without explanation, and calling would yield promises to pick up which never materialized.

Went to Yard Waste section of landfill, did not encounter any staff, road is a bit bumpy and in some areas made of gravel, a pickup truck or similar type truck is best if you're getting mulch. Staff can be a bit picky about properly securing your load. Tipping fee is very high especially the mattress surcharge which makes no sense since mattresses do not receive any special handling. Not a fun place but is generally clean and well run.

Every other Friday we have our recycling bin picked up. Every other Friday, the lazy 2 guys pick up the 2 bins (the one across the street and ours, as well as the entire block) and throw them anywhere. Sometimes, we get lucky and my bin fall on my grass next to the curb, or it just block my driveway, or its end on the neighbors yard. If they just place every bin where they belong, that would be a 5-star service. Unfortunately, I pay high taxes to get this 0-stars service bi-weekly.

They literally walked past my recycle bin but got my neighbors. This is my third incident with them. I will say that they did try to make it right, but I wish they were consistent.

Went there a month ago when they had a special collection of toxic chemicals dropoff. Everyone was super nice even though i'm sure it was a tough day for them. I thought they were so nice that i called to speak with a manager the next day to tell them.

I live in Frederick now I moved from the Baltimore area and had some old furniture and trash that I took from my old house in Baltimore on Sunday March the 4th and it was late so I drove home in Frederick and decided to use the local dump but was only turned away cuz the junk I had didn’t originate from Frederick, this is what I was told , Only the website does not say anything about that at all ..I have been to many dump sites and was never asked where the junk originated SMH !!! And and all Honesty I believe I was turned away for another reason because first of all the lady at the window was very rude she kept talking to the other person in the building after I was already on the scale taking her time while I waited patiently, and even after she told me the bs about the junk not being from Frederick so they won’t take it, she was even rude about that never once did she say oh I’m sorry for your inconvenience or anything to that fact she just said turn around at the end of the grass and leave, this was very disappointing and disrespectful she was not professional at all I will NEVER bring my business back to that landfill EVER again nor will I recommend it , and in fact, I will suggest you to go to Marriottsville dump site on Marriottsville rd its quick and easy and they don’t ask you where your junk originated from cuz it’s just junk and you are paying to dump it there , they’re not doing you any favors ... please let me know if anyone knows or has heard of this problem before..

I love their service and well-kept roads. The rates are surprisingly low, too. They take credit/debit cards and give a small discount for cash, which is great!

This morning as I was running late for an appt, I noticed our trash strewn about the yard after an apparent visit from a hungry critter. Upon my return home a couple of hours later, I was expecting to get out the gloves and begin cleanup but much to my relief, the WM crew took it upon themselves to help us out during curbside pickup and I can't begin to say how grateful we are! Thank you guys so much!! Happy Holidays!!
