Long story - I bought a citizen e-bike before the pandemic. I accidentally ran over the front wheel the other month so I contacted their support and found out the bike was discontinued and they couldn’t answer any of my questions. I thought I could figure things out on my own so I bought a wheel on Amazon and of course it wasn’t the right one.
So I reached out to ReCycles Bikes and within a short period of time they found a new wheel for me.
As I was there in the store, I looked at the bikes and saw a several bikes that really turned me on. I wanted a decent entry level mountain bike that I could putz around on in the watershed and I was pleasantly shocked that their prices were comparable to a new Walmart bike of lesser quality. They let me take the one I was I wanted for spin and that cinched it. That was my bike.

Love the concept, but I was hesitant about the price and quality and yes these bikes are priced higher than yard sale bikes. But these are not yard sale bikes. Looking closer at a bike that caught my eye, i noticed it was almost completely refurbished. New cassette, new crank, new chain, new tires, hydraulic brakes with new rotors and pads. New seat, new handlebar, new seat post. Frame was lightweight aluminum, that and the rims were about the only thing that was left from the original bike. A new bike of this quality would have cost 2-3 times what it was listed for at ReCycles. I bought it and took it home. Quite happy with the whole transaction, love the bike, really loved the price. If you're in the market for a bike, I highly recommend you go check out the inventory and look closely at what he's done to these bikes before he puts them on the floor.
ReCycles Bikes is such a friendly place to visit. The environment is very inviting and the owner as well as the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. If you're looking for a used bike or needing your bike serviced, this is the place to go. There is no other bike shop I would give my business to!
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the top-notch service at Recycles Bikes in downtown Frederick, and I couldn't be more impressed. Very friendly and passionate staff, brought my bike in just to see if it needed any service and they took care of me very quickly and the cost of service was very affordable! The selection of used bike parts is nice and it's fun to browse the bikes. Definitely recommend for any cycling needs
Absolutely fantastic service! I went in for an estimate- their website says 24-48 hour turnaround- and they had an estimate for me in less than 5 minutes. It was really impressive, and the price was very competitive compared to other bike shop quotes in the area.
My bike looks brand new, the staff was friendly, and work was done in 2 business days. Cannot recommend ReCycles enough!

It’s a great shop, his turn-around time on service isn’t weeks and weeks like other bike shops, prices on bikes, accessories and service are reasonable and they are always very helpful with answering questions honestly! Andddd they have 5 year warranty??? That’s unheard of! Great local bike shop!
I took my bike to Matt because it had been sitting for over 10 years. It had 2 flat tires and other issues that needed repair. Matt had it diagnosed and repaired in 2 days! It rides great. I would definitely recommend ReCycles bikes for all of your bike needs.
Brought my Surly Cross-check in the other day for a tune-up. Had a wonderful chat with Matt, who was down-to-earth and easy going. The opposite of the arrogance and condescension that I've experienced at so many bike stores in the past. I assumed that I would need to purchase the highest cost tune-up option, given that I hadn't ridden this bike in years, but Matt was able to cut the costs significantly. Will be taking my bikes back in the future.
Matt and his staff are so helpful! I purchased my bike from ReCycle Bikes back in 2020 and brought back for a tune up in 2024 (admittedly after some pretty significant neglect) but Matt fixed it up and got me back out riding within 24 hours! They also helped show me how to safely and properly place my bike on the bike rack on my car. Highly highly recommend!
Every time I go to ReCycles Bikes I’m greeted with a big grin from the owner. The shop is loaded with high quality bikes that he’s “recycled” if you will and selling for much less than new ones. This is the best place I know of to get a great bike at a great price. So what if it isn’t this year’s model. That new bike will be an old bike next year.

Matt at ReCycles Bikes got me back in the saddle! He took the time tune up and fit my existing Cannondale to my liking. My very old Specialized "Ground Control" is my indoor friend as it was refurbished and hooked up to exercise and watch my fav reruns. While there, I bought a new pump and donated some bike items. I love the convenience, personal service, AND ReCycles Bikes repurposing perfectly wonderful rides.
Matt is an experienced bike shop owner and mechanic. He is great to work with and very considerate and conscientious. I wholeheartedly recommend Matt to work on your bike as well as recycling your no longer used, good quality bikes.

My bike had a bunch of rust from the winter elements so I took it to Matt. Not only was all the rust gone, but he straightened up the wheel, smoothed the shifting and returned it sparkling! It rides like a dream again, good as new!
I have really enjoyed having ReCycles bike shop in downtown Frederick. I have been going there for a few years now, and appreciate that the shop and Matt, the Owner, have made it much more of a community oriented and personable bike shop than most standard shops. Matt helped me build my bike I ordered online a couple of years ago, has done tune-ups for me, helped me with bike supplies and parts, and answered a lot of questions for me. Matt is extremely nice and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable at the shop. They also have a great selection of used bikes available. I will definitely continue to use ReCycles Bikes for years to come. I highly recommend this place! If you haven't already, go check it out!

Back in 2010, I bought a used Cannondale SR 800. It had been about 5 years since its last tune up when I dropped it off with Matt. Matt is really good with bikes, and honesty, I don’t think my bike has ever ridden (or even looked!) this good. A lot of my riding is on crushed gravel, and Matt did a stellar job both tuning and cleaning it up. Frederick is a bit out of the way for me, but definitely worth the trip. Highly recommend!
