Got to give this company 5+ stars. I have had the opportunity to watch Grimm’s Automovation from the inside and had discussions with the owner and staff about the growth and changes small businesses of Frederick go through with the expansions and additions of Frederick. Towing is a need to be tough but fair occupation. And through my time with them I can not say enough how compassionate Grimms is from ownership to drivers. I have Witnessed Dale (the owner) work with a young woman struggling with mental health freezing storage fees and offer a flat rate to receive her car once she was feeling better. They was more then welcoming and informative when asked about fee’s,costs and state regulations. Never hesitated to explain. After spending a day with this lovely crew I can say for certain that they can handle any job big or little. From putting your spare tire on for you to making sure even the biggest roughest trucks are handled with the upmost care from loading to transport to service and repair.
Great service!!! Locked my keys in my car in a parking lot that they tow from. It was late at night and I was just going to leave my car and get it in the morning but with those negative comments, I thought it was going to be a major ordeal (stupid me for believing the negative). So luckily, they have 24 hour service and I got my car unlocked within 30 minutes!!! Grateful I only had to pay to unlock than a tow and storage fee. Dude was super understanding and helpful, by far the best service in town offered! Way cheaper than other local companies. THANK YOU GRIMMS!!!!!
Showed up with a crap job. They set me in position and started right away even though I wasn't supposed to start till the next morning. They showed up early next morning and started right up. They were patient with me and my company, did what was asked even though me and them agreed that the job should be done another way then what the company wanted. They were WAY more patient than me. Got parts ordered, and as soon as it got there, they got me finished. Price was cheaper than I thought would have been. Work was done right. They accommodated me and my dog and I was very pleased with their service. I got friendly, fast, professional service and treatment. Thankyou! If Ever broke down nearby again, I will see yall again!
We had the best service I've ever received from a towing company yesterday. It was my daughter's first accident, so she was pretty shook up. The staff was great, they took us to there office/yard and then gave us a ride home at no additional cost. I would us them again, without any reservations.

Unbelievable service. Mike and his staff were very compassionate and put our needs first. Our accident happened out of state. We had a brand new car that will definitely be deemed totaled. Needed a rental to get us back home. They never left us until we were set. Cannot thank them enough for their genuinely kind and professional service.

Our truck got towed from a truck stop. These guys charged us $1275 an hour to tow our truck. Our bill ended being $6600. These guys couldn’t even give us a discount. I would stay away from these crooks. They will steal your money. Idk how they come up with prices like this but honestly This should be illegal.
Please be aware!!! We agreed on the price with storage and when they towed the units they charged as extra for each unit and charged storage 150$ per day. The guy on the phone was very rude and blamed that trucking companies are trying to take his money and that he lost 150,000$ which I have no idea what he is talking about. Our bill suppose to be 400$ and we end up paying $1500. This is not the right way of doing business.
I experienced an unsatisfactory wait of over three hours, only to be informed that assistance was not possible. Although the rating system necessitates a minimum of one star, I would opt for a zero-star rating if feasible. The interaction was marked by rudeness and unprofessionalism, exemplified by an attempt to charge $140 for a 10-minute ride to the location where my vehicle was being towed, despite my insurance already covering the towing costs. I strongly advise against utilizing this company for towing services due to the office manager's apparent prioritization of financial gain over customer satisfaction.
I would first like to say if this company doesn't get it together I see them going under in few years.... It's pretty sad I only see one driver every night doing their patrols trying to keep violators out of the parking lots after hours. Notice that many lots they want to tow as per the signage posted "NO OVERNIGHT PARKING" they can't for some reason making the parking lots get over runned by vehicles and tractor trailers causing the businesses to look trashy. It's like they don't care where you park anymore. Like I said only one driver actually does their job but takes more then one to make an improvement where it is needed. It's pretty bad when you go to the movie theater on 40 and have absolutely " NO PARKING SPACES" people PARKING ILLEGALLY everywhere where is the enforcement when it's needed. Can't go enjoy a movie with nowhere to park and the cdl truck place is "Horrindous and COMPLETE EYESORE". They to overrunning the parking lot with broken down trucks, engines everywhere, trucks missing lights, illegally parked, crammed in spots that are fire lanes oil and gasoline spilling everywhere. This is a huge safety and health issue list goes on let's not forget bout the storm water program ( Frederick city drinking water) that's being polluted with oils gas antifreeze and etc. Let's not forget bout people sleeping in their vehicles especially in best buy parking lots vehicles on dead tags fowl smells coming from been their for months. As a mother I don't want my daughter seeing this disgrace of people when we go to Chucky cheese opening the door to vehicle they living in, in a business parking and using the bathroom in broad daylight and even at night. This is a safety issue and health. I'm sorry but if your going to have your signs posted then do as your signs say NOT THE OPPOSITE makes you as a company look bad! Your just telling everyone it's ok to do what you want you won't get towed. I can honestly say at least other companies keep their parking lots clean where someone would want to shop at that location. Vs a location that's filthy and overrun. Not only are you hurting your company but the other companies you have your signs for. Sorry rants over.
Broke Down Friday afternoon, 12/20/24 with my Peterbilt 579 in Thurton, MD. Started looking via the net for Pete Stores in the nearby area. Found one in Hagerstown, MD. Next I needed to find a heavy truck tow service to get my truck and trailer there. Found Grimm's and the first thing I learned was their pricing was very good. I was glad I talked with them. There was no bait and switch, just an honest price that they held true to. The second thing I learned was just how professional their driver Mike is. Your truck will be handled with absolute care. And they keep the time they say they will show up. You will not be waiting all day as other companies, who feel free to abuse your time with, "We will have a truck to where you're at in 30 minutes". Grimm keeps their commitments. I have nothing but good things to say about Grimm. These are good solid folks and I'm glad I went with them!

Dealt with a gentleman by the name of Chris after my vehicle was towed. Pick up cost was higher than expected, but Chris was a good guy to deal with. No issues personally or professionally.
If there was such a thing as zero stars that is the honest rating I would give. The dispatcher gave us one price. When driver showed up suddenly the price was almost double the original price stated. The tow truck driver had a truck following with a female driver! I asked if she could put her cigarette out bc I have asthma. I was told it was her truck and she wasn’t going to put it out. She had her baby in the truck and all! I felt like I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE! I was treated with disrespect. Also my questions were disregarded.
I can't say enough about this company. I was turned down by about 10 tow companies (or charged close to $600) because my car died in a parking garage. Apparently you cant tow out of such?? I called my mechanic and he said, "Let's get the big guns out!" and had me call Grimm's. They were so kind and so professional and said they could come right away! Chad instantly relieved my stress and Mike the driver pulled my car out like a BOSS in 3 minutes! The fee was only a few dollars more than a regular tow. Mike texted me as soon as the car was dropped off at my mechanic and Chad called soon after to make sure I had a great experience! I will NEVER use anyone else!! Kind, professional and very affordable: I wish more businesses had this winning combination. What a great experience.
If your car gets towed, 99.999% of the time, it's your own fault. Unfortunately, I recently experienced this myself and was upset—but only with myself. When I went to Grimm's, I met Chad, and he was an absolute lifesaver. As a woman, places like this can sometimes feel intimidating, but not at Grimm's. Chad was not only incredibly respectful but went above and beyond to help me. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to assist in every way made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. He truly turned my day around.

Anytime you have to use a towing or auto service company, it's usually due to a major inconvenience. Grimms Automovation made my inconvenience much more tolerable than I could've imagined. Very knowledgeable and efficient company to work with, from towing to automotive repairs. Would highly recommend!
I Honestly wanted to give these guys a good review specially after seeing all the bad 1 star reviews. I had a flat trailer tire . 53” reefer . I drove to their shop . Only 1 mile . So no road side assistance. 5th axel outer tire on driver side . Just needed a screw removed & tire plugged . And a blast of air to set the tire on the rim . Which they did without having to remove the tire nor jack the trailer up . Otr Drivers - here’s the shocking part ! They charged $175. Smh. It’s been a rough week . Didn’t have the energy to dispute this outrageous charge . Paid it and left .
Exceptional team; Chris (tow truck driver) was very kind and made my whole nerve-wrecking experience of being in a multiple car collision, smooth and easy. I followed up with Chris (dispatcher) who explained details and process and answered all my questions. I also met one of the bosses, who was also very nice, sorry didn’t catch your name!!!
It was an unfortunate situation but I was fortunate enough to encounter such a wonderful team, which seems to be rare nowadays.
Car was towed while I was at work. My general manager and district manager contacted the business and helped me get a refund. While retrieving my refund for $265, they weren't happy. I called my district manager at the location, and they initially refused to talk to him and kept trying to have me hang up and have him call the place directly. They finally talked to him on the phone, and started lecturing me about not contacting my manager the day after (i did). Then they also told my district manager that they told me about how to get a refund, and they never offered me that information. When I told the manager of Grimm's this, he brought a man i've never met before and was like "he told you that you had to contact your manager to call in order to get a refund". I told him "I've never met that man in my life. I DID contact my manager about the situation, and he did contact this business.". They finally gave me my refund, but their lying and manipulation was off putting.
Chris was the driver, I didn’t get the name of the guy who was with him but nonetheless, they both were awesome, friendly and extremely courteous. My wait time was not long at all. I know who I will call if a tow is ever needed again. Thank you guys and be safe. Y. Harris
Wow, where to start. Well, the secretary, great service, honest and polite. I went there to get my vehicle after it was towed from an accident. Paid my fees and then secretary proceeded to unlock gate and call some help to load my car on a flat bed trailers... everyone was able to pitch in and help til the owner came out. He started cussing at me, my son and his employees! Don't help that f-fing hillbilly he says. In fact I had to drive my broken car to street and load it while he was screaming at me and my son. Now my son is a minor and had no part in this at all, under no circumstances should have said anything to him let alone cuss at him and yell like he is in charge. THANK YOU MIKE (owners son) for all the help, expertise, and patience to help us load up. My thoughts personally, screw this business all together . All the employees should quit and get a different job because anything (I mean anything) is better than working for that a-hole!
Grimm's picked my Dad's Motor home up from 795 after failing brakes. Let him know that their shop in Frederick could fix it quickly for him. Tow truck driver was friendly, and knowledgeable. Motor home was fixed by 10:00 am the next morning. Everyone was pleasant from driver, receptionist, and owners. The price they charged for repairs was a very fair price. This is an example where you can't always let reviews help you make your decision of a business. Thanks to Grimm's Automovation my Dad is on his way to his bluegrass festival, and won't have to miss a beat. Thanks again!
Ilegally towed my truck, I got it back after 1.5 hours of waiting. They dragged my awd car in park and attached the hooks to my leaf springs.
Edit: I called Rob to inform him of how the towtruck driver towed my car incorrectly and he, without telling me he would be doing so, sent the driver back with a partner who proceeded to yell at me and get increasingly violent. They saw me 3 hours later and followed me to 7/11 and yelled at me from their window.

For background I work security and they had my car called in on a lot it was approved to be at, they ignored the security signs and towed it anyway. They were on another call so they weren't able to get my car back for another hour and a half preventing me from doing my job.
I have a 2010 Montana 5th wheel and broke the rear set of leaf springs on I-270. They sent out Russel to fix it. He apologized profusely for being on another job and us having to weight for him.
He helped us get the camper to a park and ride and off the interstate. He did not have the springs to fix them but helped us get them and came back the next morning to install the and the 2 new tires we had to replace.
I cannot thank Grimm's enough not Russel for their attention to detail and insistence on getting this fixed right. He gave us all kinds of advice for when we get back home for other small issues to check up on.
Hope you never break down in Frederick, MD, but if you do, these are the guys to call for auto, truck and tractor trailer repairs.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. This is a major bait and switch. Called roadside for a broken serpentine belt due to AC compressor locking up. I asked them to bypass the compressor with a shorter belt until we could get it to our mechanic. They said they couldn't but gave me a reasonable quote on towing it in and replacing the compressor. I agreed. They said they could have it out that evening. After towing it, they told me they couldn't get the parts til the next day. I asked how long it would take and they assured me they would have it out by 3:30 or 4:00 the next afternoon. At 3:30 I was told they weren't going to finished that day, but would be finished by 9:00am the next morning at the latest. I called for over two hours and couldn't reach anyone. Finally answered and was told they didn't know when it would be finished and that they had to go get parts that weren't included the first time. When it was finally done, it took them over an hour to get the invoice to me (still holding up my driver) and the invoice was $850 more than quoted. When I questioned it, they said the office manager would call me back. Over an hour later I called back and she was indignant and flat out called me a liar. I definitely should have read the reviews before I called them.
