Fantastic customer service and best of all they don’t try to pull any tricks to give you a lower price for certain metals. I do a lot of commercial food grade repair work and as a result I’m left with lots of stainless steel and aluminum scrap. Yesterday I tried selling it at Carroll Scrap Metal in Finksburg, MD and they pulled the magnet trick stating that because the magnet sticks the slightest amount it’s considered “dirty stainless”. They wanted to give me $.09 / lb so I quickly got out of there. Thankfully I found Deckers and the gentleman took a few minutes of his time and pulled 4 of these long rods out that had a very hard pull on the magnet. The other 900 pounds of stainless they bought for $.28/lb. You heard that right…almost a half of a ton worth of stainless steel that almost sold for a third of the price because of 2 dishonest yard workers. If they’re cheating everyone the same way imagine how much extra money they’re literally stealing from the community. Additionally I had 300lbs of aluminum, 700lbs of ferrous steel, 600lbs of motors. Before I realized I was getting cheated Carroll scrap had already weighed in 220lbs of copper wire, 80 lbs of clean brass, and 25 lbs of copper pipe. I know I would’ve gotten more money had I been able to sell it deckers. Needless to say I will never ever make that mistake again and I hope this post helps everyone else to avoid them like the plague.
Friendly, helpful and efficient as I called to ask if they take an electrical appliance for recycling and they said they do so when I got there one of the workers took care of it for me and I was on my way. I recommend this place as they have been in the area for a long time originally in New Windsor and then a different Westminster location before where they are now located
One bad egg or bait & switch??? I called a few times asking how they wanted wire sorted. The ladies on the phones were very friendly as was the staff in the warehouse. But when it came time to sell, the young man told me my three piles all paid the same. (Extension cords, small appliance, and cat5.) I saw what was happening so I played dumb but pointed out that my 40 pound roll literally said category five and the office quoted more for that. His response was laughable as he described “the fluffiness” of the wires is what they went by. I told him I would just hold onto it and then offered up a small bundle of bare bright. But he was then annoyed, said it wasn’t worth weighing (5 pounds) and they were technically closed. I thanked him and collected $40 for a small assortment just to make record of my visit. I'm not going to make assumptions as to ignorance or greed. Not everyone needs that extra .50 a pound but as a single father of two boys I sell scrap for extra money to make ends meet. 2 stars because everyone was nice and I didn’t lose any money. However I recommend to do your research and take a small selection 10 minutes before they close. Hopefully my experience can help others that are not as familiar with the industry as I am.
Choose Deckers over any scrap yard in Carroll County. Respectable value on your scrap, they feel like family once they get to know you. Always friendly. No hidden fees. What you see is what you get and if you’re like me that’s what we want. Regular customer since I found them. Always recommend

Iv been coming to Deckers for years and years now including my family and also the friends of mine who i have referred them too! The employees are are alway oh so amazingly nice and respectful and just so helpful and the prices are satisfying, atleast to my standards of what type of unneeded products I take to them, leaving with a satisfied amount in return and smile on my face from the employees amazing service and respectfulness ! I use no other !
We took crushed cans in which takes a lot of time doing. They didn't open the bags to weight. They subtracted what they thought the bags weighed. I did asked them to cut open the bags as they have done before but said no. Other than that the staff was very friendly.
My first time stopping into Deckers. My experience was great! Staff was very friendly and a very easy process all around. They even gave me a tee shirt!
Fair prices, the few times I have went they were very helpful. Scale isn't drive-through, so if you aren't very good backing a trailer, let someone else drive. Conveniently located right off 97.
