I have to add my review because Dave, our tow truck driver, and Scott, our mechanic, were absolutely outstanding. These guys went above and beyond normal customer service. They were friendly, communicative, and knowledgeable. We were in a tough spot with our family car being unsafe to drive and they got us back on the road quickly and for a great price.
The only thing Southern Maine Towing needed to do was to show up for 5 minutes to help fix a problem they had already said, "we fixed the problem". Which wasn't the case. Southern Maine Towing wants to charge me twice for a service they should have taken care of the first time. I'll never trust Southern Maine Towing.
I had a flat tire, called them, the woman was so pleasant on the phone, told me the price, gave me an estimated time. They arrived ahead of schedule, they put the donut on, he was fast, nice, and effective. He helped me get the flat tire into the van. Will continue to use them.
I was in a bind and lost a key fob key for a Toyota Rav4. I stopped by a dealership, they couldn’t help, they needed to order it, would have been lucky with the holidays to get it before the new year. I called Southern Maine Towing & Locksmith. They came out within the hour, had the key fob in stock, and quickly programmed a new key for the vehicle at a very fair price. A lot less than i expected. Thanks guys you’ll be my first call anytime I need a key.
Great knowledgeable guys, extremely personable and professional. There were more than a few hiccups for my situation when I needed a tow, and Southern Maine Towing was professional, timely, and overall made the experience much less stressful/difficult. Dave came to help me out, cannot recommend enough.
Super lovely people throughout the whole process. Your car randomly dies while you’re driving and it’s freezing out? So stressful! But they made the experience so easy. Joe and Rusty were so nice and accommodating and I did not catch the woman’s name who answered the phone, but she was so sweet and I really appreciated everyone’s assistance.
Got a flat on a cold rainy night. After laying in the rain trying to get the tire off I came to the realization my lug nuts were stripped. Called tow company to get a tow to a tire shop first guy who stopped by tried to get tire off with no luck. The called southern Maine towing and they sent this angel Joe. Joe was just supposed to give me a tow. After further inspection Joe wouldn’t take no for an answer, he was getting that tire off. Can’t stress enough how bad the weather was but he was happy to go above and beyond and help someone out. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend. I’m sure all their drivers are good but hopefully you are blessed and get JOE!!!
If I could give zero stars, I would. I had my vehicle parked in a City of Portland lot, for which I was paying parking as I’m out of the country. Received a ticket and boot due to an issue in the system with payments, which I paid immediately after notification from parking, they advised they’d go remove it. Instead the vehicle was towed. Fine enough, not the tow company’s fault there was a miscommunication, but everything from there was a horrible experience. They made no effort to notify me that they had towed the vehicle, and meanwhile I was still paying for parking in the city lot. It turns out they didn’t notify me because they were hoping to claim it as “abandoned” after 30 days so they could steal it. They had already applied for a title for it, despite never making any effort to contact me so I could make the arrangements to get it back. I only found out because I sent shippers to the lot to collect the vehicle and they found it was gone. Because it had been in the tow company’s possession for so long, I had about $1500 worth of charges. The shippers were happy to manage this and bill me, which would have been fine, but the tow company said that they would only accept cash. In the 21st century if you’ll only accept cash, particularly for that large of an amount, you’re doing something shady you want off the books. That’s the only explanation. I spoke to several people in the company trying to sort something out. I offered to mail a check, do an immediate bank transfer, pay by card, etc and they completely refused despite knowing I was out of the country. The only reason I was even able to get the car back was because I wired the money to a friend in the area who then had to go out of her way to pay the cash to the tow company so my shippers could collect it. They made the whole process ridiculously unreasonable, expensive, and overall horrible in what is already a difficult situation trying to manage this from far away and taking on an unexpected expense of that much. The only positive I can say for them is that they don’t appear to have damaged the vehicle in the process. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is highway robbery.
I needed a tow and Via Liberty Mutual, Jayden from Southerner Maine Towing. I was impressed with how well and often they communicated with me. Jayden gave me a call as he neared my house. He deftly maneuvered his truck in the driveway. Fortunately, Jayden was able to get my car started and made sure I was able to drive it.
Engine died on the Casco Bay Bridge at night. Joe worked swiftly and thoroughly to get us out of harm's way, not without putting himself at risk to oncoming traffic. We are grateful for his professional service!
I called these guys and asked for help because locked the keys in the car and they were nice and friendly but the office was located 1 minute down the road from biddeford court house and the tow truck was only 10 minutes from the court house waited about a half hour or so and was charged $84.00 just to get the door open to get the keys which only took him 3 minutes. Ridiculous how much they charge you.
Tried to overcharge me the city's set rates and charge me extra days. I would not recommend this company for any services. Also very rude customer service unwilling to do what's right. The police department was required to call and correct his predatory ways. Beware of low life scammers like this. Edit::To the response, I am very concerned after finding out the owners history of scams and run in with the law surprised any police department would use this towing service. To anyone reading this don't be intimidated by scammers or anyone trying to take advantage of your situation or any ended ended threats.
Southern Maine towing picked up my vintage Volvo after a breakdown. My driver was courteous, careful and thoughtful. They will be top of my list when I’m in need!
Dave is the best! My son's car broke down at the airport. We're not from Maine and didn't know where to take the car. He gave me a set of great suggestions and then towed it to an out of the way spot of our choosing for no extra cost!
My car went bonkers today and I had to get it towed to my mechanic. I went through Progressive roadside assistance and I’m so happy they sent Southern Maine Towing. Dave was spectacular- he was super helpful, arrived right on time and followed up with me when he dropped my car off- even put my key in the drop box for me. Amazing service, I highly recommend Dave and Southern Maine Towing!!

My truck was stuck on a rock that I didn’t see next to a driveway. These guys figured out how to get the truck off the rock without damaging anything any further. It would have been easy for them to ridicule me for doing something dumb, but they were really professional. They were great to work with and got me on my way quickly. Awesome service.
Joe was so amazing. We had a serious issue with our car and he came quickly and had it fixed so fast while also explaining what was wrong and helping us to calm down. I would recommend Joe to anyone and I wish nothing but health and happiness to him
I can't thank Precious enough for her help after my accident. I was completely overwhelmed, and had no idea what I was doing, but she explained everything, kept me calm, and showed so much kindness. She truly made a difficult time much easier. The tow truck driver was great too. Overall great experience for a bad situation.
Dave !!!!! Dave!!!!! Dave!!!!!! We were on the family vacation when our rental vehicle broke down. After spending an entire day trying to get help . My phone rang it was Dave saying he was delivering me a new car. But then when he looked he realized the car was way too small for our family and not what we requested . Dave went into the rental office and stayed there for hours until he was able to get a vehicle that was suitable for our family. Dave was the ONLY person who actually tried to help us. His positivity and perseverance saved our vacation. After over 9 hours of numerous phone calls Dave arrived with a smile on his face and a new car . He has restored my faith in mankind . Thanks Dave for seeing our situation through to the end and working way past your schedule to make sure we had what we needed . You are one of a kind.
Our original rental car stopped working only 2 days into our vacation. We needed to get a new car but it was a struggle because we needed a 7-seater. We were on call with several people from 1pm-9pm and Dave was the one who came through. He dedicated his entire workday to helping us get this new rental car!! He even worked overtime and drove a long way late at night to get us this car. He was so helpful and a friendly guy. Thank you Dave!!!
Dave personally helped our family get a new rental car after our original wasn’t working correctly. We were on call with different people from 1pm to almost 9pm and Dave was the person to help us and keep in contact throughout the day. He spent all day finding us a new car and even drove the car to us overtime late at night to get it to us. He was so selfless and kept a positive attitude the entire time!! Dave saved our family vacation woohoo!!!
Joe H showed up to tow my truck, but he spent a few minutes reviewing what was wrong with it first. He was able to fix my problem so I could drive my truck home and take care of the issue. Couldn’t have been a nicer guy and after he figured out my battery issue, he spent a few minutes explaining why jumping it didn’t work and answering my questions. I would recommend these guys 1000% - could have easily just towed it and let my mechanic tell me the issue a few days and several hundred dollars later. Good to know there’s still stand up guys out there.
Unfortunately, my wife’s car had an incident that made it unsafe to drive home after our annual camping trip. After contacting our insurance company’s roadside assistance, they sent Southern Maine Towing, more specially Kennedy. Boy am I glad they did!
From the initial phone call to the final update, Kennedy provided exceptional service. He even sent a text with a picture of our car safely at our local Chevy dealer. His attention to detail and care for our vehicle was evident throughout the process.
While needing a tow is never ideal, Kennedy and Southern Maine Towing made the experience as stress-free as possible. Their professionalism and thoughtfulness truly stood out. Thanks again for the excellent service!
Don’t trust these liars and cheaters. They tired my car and scratches up the front bumper and rear diffuser. They also jammed gravel into the muffler by dripping the car at too steep of an angles off the back of the flat bed. They also broke a rude height sensor and refused to take any responsibility! No one would return my calls once they realized I had evidence of the damage being done by them. Now I have to claim it on my insurance and have them to sue these criminals. You’re better off choosing anyone else! Do not let them touch your car!
Edit. I tried for weeks to talk to them. Don’t let their hollow reply make you think they actually care. They ignored me and only responded once I left a review. The owner and manager are both untrustworthy and don’t deserve your business!
Kennedy showed up with a pleasant attitude and attempted to do jump start on my truck (which failed) not his fault, he got an emergency call that he had to take and I resubmitted a tow request he showed up prompt after the emergency call and quickly and safely loaded my truck and got me home. He was very friendly and courteous and went above and beyond to provide me with the best service I’ve ever had from any towing company, I’d recommend southern Maine towing to anyone who was looking for a tow. Great service. Diagnoses was a hung starter gear that freed up with some mechanical persuasion 5 minutes after he dropped me off.
After past experience with other towing companies I was nervous of having my car towed but my driver, Wayne, was super gentle with my car and talked me through what he was doing. He was super friendly and a great hearted person! Thank you again Wayne you are a true blessing!
Yes they came promptly but even though I told my insurance that my Mother needs a wheelchair, Southern Maine Towing gave us no accommodation for that, at first saying that they weren’t told, then that they had no solutions if they had been told. Had to push my Mom in a wheelchair from the busy highway to service station.
“Only” .2 miles feels a lot heavier pushing a human being through dirt with no sidewalks. Truly let us down in an emergency and then when the driver dropped off car, heard him say to the service tech that he needed a “strong drink”. Sorry my car problem inconvenienced the guy driving a tow truck!
