My truck was stuck on a rock that I didn’t see next to a driveway. These guys figured out how to get the truck off the rock without damaging anything any further. It would have been easy for them to ridicule me for doing something dumb, but they were really professional. They were great to work with and got me on my way quickly. Awesome service.

Dave !!!!! Dave!!!!! Dave!!!!!! We were on the family vacation when our rental vehicle broke down. After spending an entire day trying to get help . My phone rang it was Dave saying he was delivering me a new car. But then when he looked he realized the car was way too small for our family and not what we requested . Dave went into the rental office and stayed there for hours until he was able to get a vehicle that was suitable for our family. Dave was the ONLY person who actually tried to help us. His positivity and perseverance saved our vacation. After over 9 hours of numerous phone calls Dave arrived with a smile on his face and a new car . He has restored my faith in mankind . Our original rental car stopped working only 2 days into our vacation. We needed to get a new car but it was a struggle because we needed a 7-seater. We were on call with several people from 1pm-9pm and Dave was the one who came through. He dedicated his entire workday to helping us get this new rental car!! Dave personally helped our family get a new rental car after our original wasn’t working correctly. We were on call with different people from 1pm to almost 9pm and Dave was the person to help us and keep in contact throughout the day. He spent all day finding us a new car and even drove the car to us overtime late at night to get it to us. He was so selfless and kept a positive attitude the entire time!! Joe H showed up to tow my truck, but he spent a few minutes reviewing what was wrong with it first. He was able to fix my problem so I could drive my truck home and take care of the issue. Couldn’t have been a nicer guy and after he figured out my battery issue, he spent a few minutes explaining why jumping it didn’t work and answering my questions. I would recommend these guys 1000% - could have easily just towed it and let my mechanic tell me the issue a few days and several hundred dollars later. Good to know there’s still stand up guys out there.

After work realized car was towed, immediately threaten overnight storage fees on the phone, tell me the wrong address so they waste my time and get there after closing, didn’t tell me they don’t accept credit cards on the phone so i spend more time finding cash after i arrive - all just to get and extra 30$ for overnight fees. If karma is true - people who work here deserve the worst in life.

Dave was great. My lugnuts were over torqued when the tires were put on and I couldnt get them off to change a flat. AAA came' and Dave too attempted' but quickly realized he'd probably mess it up even more if he pushed it. Knew his limits. Had it towed to Sullivan.
In January, I had a very disappointing experience with this company. My car (a Ford) needed towing, and at first, everything seemed normal. They picked it up and took it to their location. I was told there would be a fee of around $45 and they would keep the car — which I accepted.
However, the moment I walked into the office, the atmosphere shifted. As a person of color, I immediately felt a sense of coldness and indifference from the staff. I tried to brush it off at first, thinking maybe it was just in my head — but it only got worse.
When I dropped off the car and was ready to finalize everything, I was told the fee was around $45. I paid $60 in cash (three $20 bills) and waited for my change. The woman at the desk (a younger, heavier-set lady) refused to give me any change. When I politely asked, she responded with a rude and arrogant attitude, saying I had no change to receive — despite what was originally quoted.
This entire interaction made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I’ve been living in the U.S. for over 15 years, and this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had — especially in Maine, where people are generally very respectful. The situation gave me the impression that the mistreatment was not just poor service, but discriminatory in nature.
It was one of the most unpleasant and disheartening experiences I’ve had with any business in the United States.
Kennedy picked up my Volvo yesterday. He was right on time and communicated before he arrived. He had to push the car out of the driveway which wasn’t easy.
He got the job done! Very nice guy.
Kennedy was happy to help & explained a lot of what he was doing/what I needed to do next to get my car back up and running. I appreciated him teaching without being judgy, still don't know how to change a tire so thankful for guys like him who do!
Due to closed stations, ran out of gas a few miles from the service plaza as I was headed home from a late flight around 2:30am. AAA failed to provide service but Dave showed up after a call to the State Police. Very professional and friendly, had me on my way in no time after making sure I was all set! 10/10 recommend.

I just had the greatest experience with Southern Maine Towing. My truck quit in my garage,and AAA notified Southern Maine towing in Biddeford. Roadside Tech Joe was here within 20 minutes. He ran diagnostics and found the problem. Truck started. Perfect. Joe is courteous, professional, and friendly. I am glad SMT & Joe were there to help. My highest recommendation!
Maine State law, attorney general office, Portland max tow 135, storage max 40 a day 14 days only, so, they towed a motor ycle I own, which was abandoned in Portland, the guy buying it moved and had possession of it while paying me off. Had No idea where it was, Southern Maine towing picks it up, sends me an bill 37 days later for 1850 to get it back, already sent in a title app on it. Seriously? No common sense why it's on a street in Portland January 30th? Owner lives in South Portland, just a way to ensure they make more money and shouldn't even be in business if this process is the way. Just send a bill for more than it's worth. No idiot is going to go get it. And they pocket money in the sale of it. What a business, I personally would contact the owner. We have your vehicle. This is our address and hours, as it was towed. Don't tell me you didn't know who's it was, your bill found my address No problem.
Came out to find one of my tires flat on my vehicle after work. I have AAA roadside assistance and was able to get a tow truck to arrive from Southern Maine towing. The driver's name was Zack, and he was wicked professional. Never felt like my car was in a bad spot. It was a smooth ride the whole way the tire shop. Quality service.
Unfortunately, my wife’s car had an incident that made it unsafe to drive home after our annual camping trip. After contacting our insurance company’s roadside assistance, they sent Southern Maine Towing, more specially Kennedy. Boy am I glad they did!
From the initial phone call to the final update, Kennedy provided exceptional service. He even sent a text with a picture of our car safely at our local Chevy dealer. His attention to detail and care for our vehicle was evident throughout the process.

Don’t trust these liars and cheaters. They tired my car and scratches up the front bumper and rear diffuser. They also jammed gravel into the muffler by dripping the car at too steep of an angles off the back of the flat bed. They also broke a rude height sensor and refused to take any responsibility! No one would return my calls once they realized I had evidence of the damage being done by them. Now I have to claim it on my insurance and have them to sue these criminals. You’re better off choosing anyone else! Do not let them touch your car!
Edit. I tried for weeks to talk to them. Don’t let their hollow reply make you think they actually care. They ignored me and only responded once I left a review. The owner and manager are both untrustworthy and don’t deserve your business!
Kennedy showed up with a pleasant attitude and attempted to do jump start on my truck (which failed) not his fault, he got an emergency call that he had to take and I resubmitted a tow request he showed up prompt after the emergency call and quickly and safely loaded my truck and got me home. He was very friendly and courteous and went above and beyond to provide me with the best service I’ve ever had from any towing company, I’d recommend southern Maine towing to anyone who was looking for a tow. Great service. Diagnoses was a hung starter gear that freed up with some mechanical persuasion 5 minutes after he dropped me off.
Unfortunately had to tow my vehicle due to coolant issues. The gentleman who helped me was very kind and understanding when I changed delivery address. Lovely company to work with and willing to go the extra mile for you (literally lol).

Requested roadside assistance through my car insurance company’s app to help get my spare tire on (the flat tire wouldn’t come off despite getting the lug nuts removed).
Drew arrived just on time and had the job done in under 10 minutes. In the past, I’d had such an unforgettably-negative experience with another towing company in the Portland area, that I labored in vain on getting the flat changed myself for an hour longer than I should have before reaching out for help.
The help I received from Southern Maine Towing was so prompt and painless that I consider my opinion of roadside assistance businesses to be fully redeemed! Should I need help again, there’s no question I’ll be in touch with them again without any delay whatsoever.
Yes they came promptly but even though I told my insurance that my Mother needs a wheelchair, Southern Maine Towing gave us no accommodation for that, at first saying that they weren’t told, then that they had no solutions if they had been told. Had to push my Mom in a wheelchair from the busy highway to service station.
“Only” .2 miles feels a lot heavier pushing a human being through dirt with no sidewalks. Truly let us down in an emergency and then when the driver dropped off car, heard him say to the service tech that he needed a “strong drink”. Sorry my car problem inconvenienced the guy driving a tow truck!
