Liz who runs the place is wicked smart! She is the epitome of a truly local Maine business.
The lobster rolls and breakfast sandwiches are phenomenal and she is super generous and kind. Do yourself a favor and stop in!
I stopped here last week for lunch on the way by, decided to try the lobster roll and wow! I’ve had lobster rolls before in small stores like this one so let’s just say I wasn’t expecting anything above and beyond. Well to my surprise I opened the container and was met with a full roll of fresh lobster delicious claw meat, without the fillers a lot of places try to put on theirs. I had to get another one a couple days later. Over a week has passed and I’m still telling people to give this spot a try for a lunch destination especially a lobster roll destination.
Had never been here before and the woman who took our order was very patient and helped us to get our order right. The store is cute and the food is delicious. At $20 for a lobster roll, it really can’t be beat! The veggie burger was also surprisingly delicious and you get a lot of fries with the basket. Super good deal!
We found this wonderful restaurant/sandwich deli quite by accident. You are doing yourself a disservice if you are in the Belfast area looking for great food at great prices and you do not try this place out.
We were met by amazing staff who were kind and able to provide help and accomodations for our odd requests. The staff and the owner had amazing spirit and energy and treated us like long lost family.
And then the food...really good sandwich selection, of which my party tried 6 different offerings. I tried clam bellies for the first time ever at the owner's encouragement and it might be the best thing I have ever eaten.
I cannot give this place enough stars.

Two words….lobster roll. Yes, it’s a quaint corner store, and no you might not expect it - but the lobster roll is fantastic. I’ve had them all over the mid coast and this one is fabulous. And an absolute steal at $19.99! Simple and straight forward. Because it should be. So much lobster meat (4 oz!), the roll is toasted to total perfection (this part matters to me) and you choose to dress it with mayo or butter. Heck, choose both if you want…just don’t miss out on this! Then get some Gifford’s ice cream and go home happy. You can thank me later!
This little gem is everything it should be. Liz runs a tight ship and is one of those rare shopkeepers that genuinely cares about her customers. We ordered everything from little nibbles like fried clams and oysters to local craft beer and wine. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in Bayside.
Great little store with awesome sandwiches and one of the widest selection of local beers! Kids like the ice cream and candy, so usually lots of bikes laying around on a hot afternoon. The croissant egg-sausage-cheese breakfast sandwich is a great way to start the day!
Wow! What an awesome little store. We stumbled in looking for a morning cup of coffee. The owner made us fresh custom breakfast sandwiches while giving us (tourists) tips on what to see and where to eat. Everything Liz said was spot on. We returned everyday of our vacation for coffee and tips for our daily destination. Liz never gave us bad advice or bad food. She greeted every customer- most by name, and was focused on creating a friendly atmosphere and top notch service.
I do not leave poor reviews. I normally only write a review if I find something to be above average, whether it is food, or great customer service. However, I know that there are a number of seasonal residents and visitors that have come to stop at Bayside Store over the years and look forward to eating there when they're in the area. This is ONLY in reference to the chicken salad. The first thing I want to say is the service was good, the staff was polite, efficient, and friendly, and the store was clean and neat, but the chicken salad has definitely changed, and in my opinion not for the better. I was really looking forward to getting my favorite chicken salad sandwich like I used to get almost daily when I worked in Bayside. (The last time I was at the store for lunch was the Summer of 2018 before we moved.)
I knew the store had been sold but I specifically asked prior to ordering if the chicken salad was the same as it always has been and the young lady said it was. I ordered 2 large sandwiches, got a small bag of chips and a 20oz Coke and it was $35. When I went to the car and my husband and I opened the sandwiches the first thing I noticed was the bread had changed and the chicken was cut differently, it was shredded not cut into chunks like it had always been, and there was no celery. It also looked really dry, however we had already bought and paid for the sandwiches so we figured we'd try them. I couldn't even eat half of the sandwich. It was so salty and the bread was dry and hard. I forced myself to eat half of the sandwich but couldn't bring myself to eat the rest, it was so salty it was all I could taste. My husband had gotten a different kind of sandwich (The big hot pig) so I asked if he wanted the other half of mine? He said no because he hadn't even eaten half of his sandwich. He said the bread was dry, and hard, and the ham was really salty, and wet. We were both very disappointed, he said he wasn't going to finish his, and I couldn't eat the rest of my sandwich. When I went back in the store to throw out the remainder of our sandwiches, I told the girl at the counter that this wasn't the same chicken salad that I had remembered and she said it has been the same since she had been there. I said I hadn't been there in quite a while and another woman (I'm assuming the owner) said it's been the same for 4 years. I told her I hadn't been in since 2018. I asked if it was canned chicken and she said yes. I told her it was very salty, and that I guess I should have been more specific when I asked if it was the same chicken salad. (I should have asked if it was the same as Mark and Laura, the previous owner's used to make. If I had known it was canned chicken I wouldn't have ordered.) It's on me that I didn't specify what I was asking before ordering. I'm not writing this to disparage the store, I just don't want to have someone else be disappointed like I was if they're expecting the same chicken salad that the previous owners served.
This was a diamond in the rough! We drive through Maine and saw this cute store located off the highway. There was a tiny sign for Lobster Rolls just outside, which is what we were in the mood to try.
When we walked in, my eyes lit up at the wide variety of homemade goods, snacks, and drinks. The space was very clean and we were welcomed by a staff member, who made us feel right at home. We got there around 3pm, and it was peaceful and quiet. We had the entire patio to ourselves for a quick break.
We tried the Lobster Roll; one with and without butter and mayonnaise. The coleslaw was a perfect side and we ordered one side dish of French fries with balsamic vinegar and ketchup.
This is definitely a stop worth taking if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat along your journey in Maine!
Loved our lobster rolls at this roadside standard, enjoyed at the picnic tables outside. Great selection of beer, wine, snacks and a few staples for your camp. Full menu of fresh cooked burgers, pizza and fries also available. Lobster roll pricing commensurate with market - aka NOT a rip off.
So glad we stumbled upon this gem of a place. Delicious lobster rolls with a price point they can't be beat! Cute outdoor seating area. The indoor shop had a decent selection of local craft beer, honey, coffee and a small freezer with meals including fiddleheads.

Excellent gluten free options, including some of the best bread and pizza crust I’ve found in the area. It is clear that they put in the effort. Might not be suitable for celiac, but for a mild gluten intolerance like my own, it has been a game changer.

This place has really elevated its game over the past 3 years. The biggest win is by far the new burger, which is now making a strong case for best on the coast. It’s big, juicy, loaded with flavor. Highly recommend!
First time getting a sandwich here, the Reaganator. I heard great things and it didn't disappoint. Best sandwich I've had! I come from Bangor where sandwich shops are in abundance, but none compare to Bayside. My new favorite!
We love the Bayside Store! Great food, service, and convenient location. Enjoyed sandwiches, pizza, and ice cream from here this past week. My wife said it was the best turkey sandwich she has ever had! Our son enjoyed the ice cream, and the pizza takeout was delicious. They also have a great wine and beer selection. Definitely worth a visit when you are in the area!
A small convenience store for drinks and grocery basics with a sub/pizza/ice cream place attached. Had a sausage and mushroom pizza that was fantastic. The dough was chewy, not soaking in grease, and just the right amount of toppings.
This is a must stop if you are traveling on RT 1. The food is delicious, we had pizza, a sandwich and Mac and cheese bites everything was so fresh. The employees here are also amazing, they make you feel right at home. We will definitely be stopping in again next time we travel up here again. Being from Massachusetts it was so nice to be greeted and welcomed like a local. I honestly can’t say enough nice things about the bayside store.
We ordered several pizzas for our workplace and they were delicious! Nice thick crusts and a great selection of toppings. A few of our employees thought there could have been a little more sauce on the pizzas, but overall everyone was very happy. The Bayside Store even has Gluten-free pizza dough and sub rolls, which was important for our employees with dietary preferences. Super friendly and very accommodating staff. Thanks for a scrumptious lunch!
My local corner store so I am biased a bit. Still, objectively, great for subs and pizza to go. Best sub rolls anywhere. Giffords ice cream cones. Usual snack and grocery items. Closed on Sundays. Closed in the winter.
Ordered 2 sub sandwiches from here last night. Even tho they tasted amazing, There was hardly any meat in them, definitely Not worth 8.00 a piece! Won't recommend this place an won't be going back!!
